    A great tv

Overall a great tv! It offers a true 120 hz refresh rate and doesn't break the bank. This tv has fantastic detail and great picture quality. My only minor complaints with this tv are that in particularly dark scenes it does show that it is edge lit rather than direct lit, but this is not very noticeable and does not detract from the experience the vast majority of the time. Also, I was surprised to learn that the ESPN app is not offered in the LG store, so it will require an additional streaming device or something if you plan to use the ESPN app. Most other apps that I use have been available in the store.

I have a love hate relationship with this tv. The good, image quality is exquisite and the WebOS is second to none in my opinion. Out of the box there is very little calibration. The tv supports all versions of HDR including the superior Dolby Vision. Gaming on this tv is a dream. The response time is amazing in game mode and I find myself enjoying my games more. LG has made a commitment to gamers and it shows. Now for the bad. This tv is edge lit and the edge lighting in the corners is not good at all. The lighting bleeds in the image and at first is very distracting. You have to do a lot of calibrations to make it tolerable. I had to exchange the first one because no calibration would make it tolerable. Unfortunately the edge lighting problem is common with IPS panels. After three weeks of ownership I don't really notice it much so I can live with it. Because of the edge lighting issue I think this tv is overpriced and probably should be in the 500 dollar range.

We have no complaints. Just loving having a bigger screen. Not as big as we would liked, but decided to spend the money on the refresh rate instead of size to handle sports and action movies. Sound is louder than previous LG tvs we have had. Side lit is good enough. As per recommended by our best buy employee. Picture is richer and not as bright as previous tvs.

Closest you can get to an OLED, but on a budget.

4k, HDR, 120hz, need I say more? While yes, I must! I know, you reading this review trying to make sure if this is great purchase, I am here to tell you, maybe... It really depends on what you want. If you want a high end tv, this is not it, but if you want mid range tv that is almost like OLED, this is it. If you are a next gen console gamer and have limited budget, this could be an option, but $800 is far from cheap for most of us. You already spent $500 or more for your console, so squeezing that much more can be a challenge. I definitely recommend this TV. It is easy to use, the image is crisp and beautiful. HDR is great and next gen console graphics are amazing. Long story short, If you have a limited budget buy the 49" version, if you can afford this one, but this one, if you have more money to spend, then go for a higher end tv or buy this tv and get a Dolby Atmos Sound-Bar, yes I know... Your welcome!

I love this tv. The nanocell technology makes the picture better than a regular 1040p television. And the size is a definite step up from my 40 inch. The included apps are a welcome surprise with the ability to watch over the air tv. It does also includes such apps as Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu Voice control via the remote is pretty nice. It has ten different display options which is pretty nice, with the ability to adjust tint, temperature, contrast, etc manually. And it doesn't hurt that it was on sale for $755. I did notice the backlight would light up whole sections from the bottom up. This occurred when small slivers on the screen had any viewable picture on them. But I can get over that because of the number of features it has and the pricepoint.

Looked into this TV as my first 4K. I picked this item because I know how important lots of HDMI ports are. The picture is stunning when there is a lot of vibrant color. However the blacks are not great. Many times the blacks are very dark and it appears to lose the contrast of the darkest areas. Moreover, when there is a lot of black on the screen, any bright areas cause "vertical streaking" of the white areas. This is painfully obvious when there is a black screen and the cursor or any other light item moves across the screen. Sometimes low def programs appear a little jumpy and sometimes the audio is a little off. I don't regret the purchase, but the flaws are a reminder that I see every day.

This TV is awesome. Beautiful picture, great sound! The TV has a lot of technology i have not figured out yet. Great for gaming due to it running 120 refresh rate. Reasonable price compared to similar TV's with the same specs.

Great TV, does everything you need it to. 4K, 120 FPS, VRR, ALLM and HMDI 2.1 support for next generation? No problem. It checks all the boxes. Unfortunately The HDR picture is washed out relative to other sets at the same price point, but you won’t get all the outstanding gaming features this one has. Long story short? If you’re looking to game in SDR, 4k, 120 Hz then look no further. If you want a much greater HDR experience for both games and movies, look for a screen that isn’t edge lit, with better black uniformity and higher brightness. The corners of my LG NANO85 were remarkably light gray compared to the rest of the screen on darker scenes (in both SDR and HDR) which is why I ultimately returned it.

For all of the technical reviews that criticize the contrast ratio, etc., I find the picture quality excellent & the colors are brilliant. The 4K upscaling is very good, albeit, subject to the source video. The remote is pretty easy to use with a little practice. Sound like most tvs is adequate, but much improved with a sound bar and subwoofer. Overall, happy with my purchase, especially since the closest competitor, the OLED series was almost twice as much. A great picture to be sure, but not at twice the cost. You won't be disappointed. I used this article to calibrate the settings and it worked great. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/nano85/settings

This TV is fantastic, if you want a budget oriented tv to get the most out of your new console this is it. It also comes with LG's fantastic magic remote for navigating streaming services and content directly on the TV. My only gripe about this TV overall is that the local dimming zones are a little too large, however being that's the only thing I have to complain about it this price point it's fantastic.

Wow!! I am a huge loyal LG fan! This is my second LG. My first was a 32” LCD that I purchased back in 2006. I had it this long and NEVER had issues with it! In fact, I would have kept it but I really wanted a bigger screen and the Nano Cell seemed like the perfect upgrade! Ease of use, the picture quality, settings where you can adjust speakers, picture quality, etc! It’s an amazing picture. The sounds is awesome too but I upgraded my sound bar (LG, of course) to accommodate the newer TV.

We purchased a Samsung 55 inch 4K TV that we learned later had a 60hz refresh rate. Although the overall picture was good we saw the screen refreshing at the low hertz which affected the quality of the TV scree. We took it back and found an LG 55 inch class Nano Cell 85 series LED 4K TV that had a 120 hz refresh rate. We were able to exchange the Samsung TV for the LG TV and the customer help and support was excellent. The picture quality is superb and we're watching our TV shows in high quality 4K. Thank you Best Buy...

I bought an OLED LG TV that had a great picture but had terrible burn in with nexflix/youtube ect logos within a year. It made the tv unwatchable. Will never buy oled gain because of it. With this Tv the price is more affordable with an overall good picture and sound. The setting I use for the best picture is vivid with local dimming turned off- with local dimming on it looks like a crazy distracting spot light show from all around the edges of the tv when dark programming is on.
