    Infinite Contrast

Infinite contrast means perfect blacks because each pixel has the ability to turn on and off by itself. No backlighting needed. What this means is the picture quality, contrast, and color accuracy is phenomenal. One of the best things about the 2017 models is that all of the have the same panel and chipset. What that means is from the entry level to the premium models you get the same picture quality. Yes at one time I wanted a 75 inch screen but in OLED it was to expensive for me so I tried for the first time to get an OLED this is my second one. My first one is for the main living room(65 inch). This one 55" for bedroom. Sure I could've brought a cheaper tv but I will tell you this once you go Infinite black its hard to go back(to LED-LCD:-).

..but I don’t believe it. Great picture, obviously. Although, if you’re not getting 4K content, there can be some picture definition upscaling roughness, but nothing serious. And Perhaps it just needs to be tweaked. Which brings me to the main reason I didn’t give this 5 stars. Even though it really deserves 5 stars. LG has done some really nice things with this tv, but it’s pretty complicated to use. I LOVE the smart features. I love ALL the features. My 62 yr old mother has trouble navigating the interface. I’m tech saavy and I find it overwhelming and even confusing sometimes. But there’s no real documentation that comes with it. So there’s a learning curve that will take some time to get through, even for this IT guy.

    Good/Bad

The Good- Great amazing picture and sound quality. The Bad- 13 months and the screen has dead pixels. The center of the screen has a four inch green/gray line going across. I'm pretty good with tech so I tested the picture across different inputs including a DVD and had the tv clean noise several times but the line is still there. This should not happen with a year old TV. Credit to LG- I called them to report the issue. They advised me that even though the warranty ran out they stand behind their product and they scheduled a repair guy to come out and fix or replace the TV. As a consumer, we want companies to stand behind their products and so far LG has done that with my problem. Hopefully this will be resolved soon and I will update this review.

I was replacing a Plasma TV and went to Best Buy for a new TV. The original salesman talked me into getting an LG LED TV. There were no demos of that model to look at. After receiving the TV at home and turned it on, I was not happy with the TV. We then notified Best Buy and they told us to come in to the store which we did. They gave us 100% credit towards another TV which more closely matched our Plasma (LG OLED TV). They sent the Geek Squad to install the new TV and take back the undesired one. There were no problems or hassles. I am extremely pleased with the LG OLED TV and it closely resembled the Plasma to which I was replacing. Best Buy was friendly, helpful and I was extremely pleased with the outcome!

I have had a number of TVs over the years and this is the best viewing screen ever. Incredible blacks and brilliant colors with true cinematic quality. I've been primarily using it as a monitor in HD mode so far, I'm just not convinced that 4k makes that much of a difference. The resolution change doesn't matter all that much for normal viewing, but the HDR that runs in 4k does increased the lifelike qualities of the overall color. (Blacks seem a bit more graduated in HDR than in regular HD.) However you use it, be sure to calibrate the screen following one of the basic adjustment guides online for this model. Overall, its probably not worth the extra $$ if you only watch sports or news shows, but for films and higher end TV its simply amazing.

    Amazing Picture

I was debating whether to go with a Samsung QLED or this LG OLED. I decided to go with the LG brand even after I've had a Samsung LED for the last 3 years. What drew me to this TV was the reviews of "Plasma" like black levels. In the Best Buy store the guy showed me how amazing the Black levels were compared to a normal LED or QLED. If you're looking for an amazing picture all around, this is your TV. Be warned about 4k footage too. When we first got the TV we thought something was wrong with it because on Netflix their HDR footage looked like there was "noise" in the picture. It looked like spots moving around. I later found out it's because of the quality of Netflix's "4K" and not the TV. It looks amazing on video games so I knew it wasn't the TV.

LG OLED with HDR is awesome! Owned a 12-year old 50" plasma that started to flicker. Saw this LG OLED at Best Buy and had to have it. Amazing technology and about 1/10th the weight of the old plasma using about 1/10th the energy. Wall mounted and using my built-in home theatre sound system. Geek Squad came and took down the old one and hung the new one lickety-split. They even hauled away the old plasma for me. Booyah!! Took me a bit to adjust everything the way I like it. Had to turn off the Energy Saver function to stabilize the screen. It kept fading in and out ever so slightly. Overall, superb picture and now I feel green!! Won't be heating up the room anymore with the TV. Makes the wall look much purtier than the old one to boot!

After having the TV for a month, I have to say this is the best 4K tv I have ever seen. I have a Samsung also and its not in the league of OLED. I do not not have the words to describe the blacks. You just need to buy and enjoy this tv. Also I decided on the OLED55B7A. I have a Bose lifestyle sound system so the OLED55B7A worked for me. Buy the OLED55B7A to save some money. The HDR works great with my Apple 4K tv. The only issue, I wish webos and the remote was more intuitive. WebOs works but you can be frustrated with interphase at time switching from Apple TV to cable box or gaming system. But as for picture this the best. I really do not know how LG could make it better.

I did a fair amount of research and settled on the B7 and couldn't be happier. I actually like the look over the more expensive C7 so it was an easy decision to purchase the B7. Overall the TV is fantastic! I use it for everything; TV, 4k UHD Blu-Ray, Gaming (One X and Switch) and every use is great. Picture and color is amazing and well worth the price. The only thing I do not like is the remote, specifically the motion control and select button. The remote is too touchy and finicky. A few things I will state. 1) Watch the unpacking video before you take it out of the box!!! 2) Upon first turning it on if you are not happy with the color give it some time - play with the settings and let it 'warm up'.

I’ve done so much research on a great overall tv for watching 4K and playing video games on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. This tv is so thin and looks incredible. I don’t think I could ever go back to anything less than OLED. QLED looks great, but this tv is still way better. As for burn in, I haven’t experienced anything like that. It’s a possibility, but the Xbox interface has preventative measures built in that has the screen constantly have something going on. Even when I place my controller down to take a short break or have to walk away for a while to do something, I come back and my Xbox has side tiles come out and dims out the rest of the tv. Definitely recommend.

Finally a 4k TV that makes all video look better. Biggest problem with 1080 TV when they first came out was most content was 480. So 480 images looked bad on a 1080. However, technology must have caught up somewhere because this 4k looks awesome. When 4k first came out (not long ago) there was some of this same effect. The tehnology in these new HDTV 4k processors do a great job of making all content look good without the effect of adding the resolution and degredation. Needless to say it's a great TV. No need to comment on colors because this technology oled produces the best picture in the market. This tv replaced a 55w900a Sony TV with native 240hz.

The Best TV We Have Ever Had

We have purchased many televisions throughout our 30+ year marriage...Samsung, SONY, DYNEX, Panasonic, and some I cannot remember. We bought this LG television for a few reasons. Online reviews from independent agencies rated it very high, and the LG washer and dryer we bought years ago, convinced us that buying another LG product would be a solid purchase. The picture is every bit as good in our family room as it was in the store...which is probably hard to believe for anyone who reads this! I am not sure you will get the terrific Black Friday deal we received, but I find it hard to believe you would be disappointed watching this tv in your family room!.

If you’re going to get a 4K tv you’re going to want all the bells and whistles. 4K isn’t the next big thing. What you want that’s going to be noticeably different from 1080 to 4K is HDR and Dolby Vision support. HDR can be found in lower costing 4K TVs however the HDR effect in those TVs tend to have color bleed as well as light bleed across the image. In higher up TVs such as this one you will get outstanding contrast ratio with true blacks. Paired with HDR and Dolby vision Oled TVs are the best TVs you can buy right now. The TV is personally my dads as I pick it out for him. My own TV is a KS8500 another great tv if you’re thinking 1500 is too much.

    Stunning Picture Slim OLED TV

The contrast is absolutely brilliant and both HD and UHD look insanely vibrant, and from every single angle. The edge is so thin and is beautiful to see, even though it gets a bit thicker at the bottom for the TV's guts. The HDR in Dolby Vision is just stupendous. I cannot fathom how they replicate that much dynamic range on such a thin TV. Also, the consistency of the picture blows away anything I've seen. If you're in the market for a $2K TV, this is the set to get.

We upgraded from an aging 42" Panasonic plasma. OLED is the only way to go if you want the vivid color and deep blacks plasma used to be able to provide. This TV is everything I hoped it would be. Brightness is unbeatable, and the resolution is of course excellent. We haven't had much chance to watch 4k content on it (getting an AppleTV 4k soon), but Netflix and blu-rays look amazing. This is the first TV I've ever wall-mounted. Setup was a breeze, and the remote is really cool; it puts a little movable pointer on the screen (like a Wii) that you move around like a mouse and point/click on settings. Overall I'm VERY happy with this purchase.

Walked into BB with the intention of buying just a 4K LG TV somewhere under $1000. A BB employee who turned out to be LG certified had showed me all the LG TVs. After what felt like hours of watching each TV and their settings as well as reading all kinds of reviews and tech tips I decided on an OLED. And WOW was it the right choice! The colors are just unimaginable on the screen. It's very vivid and the smart features are great. Watching 4K content or gaming in 4k has never been better. Day and night difference between a standard HD TV as well as just a 4K. You'll never see darker darks. And you'll never want any other TV again!

We had a Best Buy consultant come to our home. He evaluated our situation and explained what we needed to upgrade our sound system. He suggested it would all work better with a new Smart TV. We reviewed the quote he gave us, we had already reviewed the TV and sound system on line. We liked the price so he completed the sale. He set up installation for us and the Geek Squad came and set everything up for us. The sound system and TV work exactly as promised and when we have needed help, our consultant has always been available to help. Very pleased with the whole process. Thank you. Would definitely recommend Best Buy and their products.

We had a previous "4k" Vizio television that this new LG 55" OLED replaced. We were on the fence about purchasing this on sale for 1,499 at Best Buy. After seeing the picture quality we were sold. The 4K OLED screen is simply amazing, and outclasses our old Vizio in every way. The software that the TV has is easy to use and it streams everything perfectly. We have been using our new Apple TV 4k with it, our Nintendo Switch, our comcast cable box, and our gaming PC on this TV. Everything simply looks amazing on this TV! HDR content is especially impressive. It is a lot to spend, but you get a LOT of picture for the price.

Pitch black is simply stunning. To view it in a large, well-lit store is to mostly notice the colors and the contrast. However, when it’s home and you’re watching the Earth II’s deep sea scenes, it is something else altogether. This was expensive. I bought it with the Black Friday sales in effect and it still felt expensive. For a moment I considered getting a larger LED tv for 2/3 the price. I’m so glad I stayed the course. Ridiculously thin display; easy to navigate controls; brilliant-brilliant colors; PITCH BLACK. Worth it. P.S. The fact that this will cost less than $1,000 one day is wild...but also encouraging.

    Audio problems

    Posted
    dmsmd

I give it only three stars because, while the video section is breathtaking with 4K input, the audio section is plagued by frequent lip sync problems that can't always be corrected by the on-board AV Sync adjustment, and by wide volume fluctuations between channels and even between commercials, for which there is no adjustment. A Sony in the bedroom running off the same cable company and through the same model set-top box has no such problems. I've been around since TVs came out and have never owned or even heard of a TV with those audio problems. Especially one costing so much.
