The image quality is astounding and anything that supports HDR is brilliant. Blacks are deep and full and movies or games that rely on lighting (or darkness) to create a mood benefit from this TV. The price is a little high but since it's a relatively new technology it's understandable.

I came in planning on getting an LED -- the prices had convinced me it was finally time to move on from my trusty 12 year old plasma. I saw the fancy OLEDs but thought they were out of my price range (I was thinking $500, not $1500) but managed to split the difference with the LG and... WOW. Every time I turn it on for a new viewer, they say the same thing. It just grabs your eye and won't let go. It even grabs your attention when it's off because it's so thin! No regrets making the jump to OLED. If you go through TVs like I do (that is, hope they last a decade or more) I strongly suggest you think about it before settling for LCD or LED. Especially if you were a plasma devotee like me -- OLED is the way to go!

I was a die hard Samsung TV person, and I was heavily considering getting a QLED, but felt like I would have to spend a fortune for a TV (Q9FN) that could compete with the OLEDs. I could not be happier with my decision to go LG. First thing is this TV is impossibly thin. I thought I was going to break it when unboxing, but despite the TV being so thin, it is surprisingly sturdy. This TV is nothing short of jaw dropping. I watched several 4k movies on it and they are great. I was afraid that the colors wouldn't be as good as the QLED, but because this TV can achieve such amazing black levels, the colors POP off the screen and look excellent. The black levels are just amazing. I watched "Stranger Things" in 4k and the dark scenes were so much better on this TV. The only thing I did not like was the eco mode which caused the TV to transition between brighter and dimmer depending on the lighting in the room. I have this feature enabled on all my other TVs, but this TV seemed to suffer the most when this brightness level was adjusted. A quick adjustment in the settings allowed me to disable this though. Best TV I have ever owned. Stop looking and just buy this TV.

The picture and color on this TV is unmatched by LCD or LED. Just going the store and starring at the TVs is about the only to get a good comparison. The TV does what it needs to do, and HDR content looks amazing on it! There are 2 issues with the TV, one that can be solved by the user... One issue that cant be solved it that anything not HD looks weird on the TV. My wife has complained that our standard ATT Uverse content looks very grainy and worse than it did before. Well nothing can really be done about that, it is what it is. Something that can be solved by the user is right out of the box, the color on the TV doesnt seem right. It seems less vibrant and brilliant than it does in the store model. We almost returned the TV till we played with the settings to get it solved. For the record, there is a power save function that needs to be turned off to get the colors to pop. Its kind of hard and annoying to get everything set up right in the settings, but once you do then you will realize just how great of a TV this is.

My First HD tv was a Sony Triniton 34 inTube Hd tv, for years I was amazed by the picture. When it died in 2014 I bought my first LCD a mid grade Samsung, never got the wow factor. 2 1/2 years ago I bought a starting LG 4K it was better, but not great. I went to the store thinking of getting a Vizio p or Roku 6 65” for $799. I wanted the OLED, but it was twice the price. I was surprised to see the in store price was $999, was an easy decision. The picture is fantastic, deep blacks perfect colors. Watching Dolby Vision is amazing. No LCD can ever compare.

I really enjoy owning this tv. It's been my dream to own an OLED since they were first debuted YEARS ago, when they cost 5+ figures. I don't use the smart features, only because I have an Xbox, so there's no need, but the few times I did, it was easy to setup from the home screen. The only thing I wish I was able to do is mirror my screen from an Apple device to the tv, instead of having to use HDMI. The thing that really makes an OLED amazing is that each individual pixel can turn on and off, so the blacks are true black, which means you don't get that weird gray-black color that other tv's show. The OLED does run hotter than a normal LED, similar to the way plasmas ran when they were popular, but it's nothing to worry about. Watching movies is very thrilling and I don't notice any latency like some other *cough*Samsung*cough televisions have when fast moving objects shoot across the screen. The only time I've actually noticed latency is when playing videos and I make my character's vehicle spin around in circles really fast. But at the same time, OLEDs were designed around the idea of watching movies, not playing video games. The colors are bright, but not abnormally bright and the screen adjusts to what's being shown. For example, if I'm watching a movie, the screen is a lot brighter and vibrant and is usually in 'Dolby' mode (it pops up in the top right corner) and when I play video games the screen dims and HDR turns on. I'm not sure I'm even explaining or labeling the 'modes' correctly, but this is what I've noticed. Sometimes I'll play a 4k or 8k (yes 8k and 8k tvs exist) video from YouTube just to have the OLED play content it was designed for. When all is said and done I feel like I've gotten my monies worth from this tv. Oh, and the screen is super thin, so be careful taking it out of the box. I was really confused cause I didn't see the screen when I first opened the box.

I recently purchased this TV from Best Buy after I dropped my 50" plasma TV of eight years. I purchased a bargain brand for a few months to use before I got an OLED. Best Buy had this on sale in-store and I jumped at it. The picture is awesome and using settings provided by Rtings, I was able to squeeze out even more finesse. The OLED sits in a darker basement room where the colors and contrast really pop. My kids love it. Great TV. Definitely would recommend.

Would give this 5 stars now since brightness issue has been resolved:) Writing this to hopefully help if anyone else experiences the problem I had with initial set-up. Did a lot of research before purchase...OLED vs QLED...decided to go with LG OLED. Made the purchase, had Geek-Squad do the install and set up. Picture quality was dark and "muddy" looking...not AT ALL like the gorgeous, crisp image at the store. Neither the installer nor the DirecTV tech could resolve the issue. (Had just upgraded to 4K equipment with DirecTV). Lived with it for a few days, thinking it was me. Everything just looked dark and almost "cloaked" is the best way to describe it. TV Settings were: Vivid, and all recommended settings in Picture Mode. Finally, I was so disappointed I went back to exchange the TV. Best Buy manager, Jeremiah, listened and helped me trouble shoot. He was wonderful and wanted to figure it out before we made an exchange to a different set, model or brand. He suggested, 1. Settings>Picture> Make sure Energy Savings is OFF (Mine was not) 2. Settings>Picture>Additional Settings> Choose HDMI ULTRA HD COLOR (HDMI 1...my TV's port, turn that setting on). (Originally I did not have this ULTRA HD Color selected). PRESTO...Perfect picture!!! Bright, Crisp, Amazing difference! All other settings in Picture Mode: OLED Light, Contrast, Brightness etc. are set as it came out of the box. I'm in love with this TV now. Thank you Jeremiah and Best Buy staff for the assistance!!

This TV is by far the best that I've ever owned. The picture is always beautiful and the sound is surprisingly good. The TV itself is insanely thin, about as thin as a phone. Every time I look at it I am amazed by how far TV technology has come. However, I do have one note about OLED that may or may not be common knowledge. You should be aware before purchasing any OLED TV, not just this one. It is in the nature of OLED to have deep blacks and vivid colors, however the tradeoff here is that you need to ensure your OLED TV doesn't get image burn-in. https://www.lg.com/us/experience-tvs/oled-tv/reliability LG documents that and includes features using WebOS that help prevent it. My TV does experience light ghosting but that is most likely because my parents don't understand to properly take care of it. Just keep that in mind if you are purchasing it for people that are less tech savvy. It requires mindfulness to properly take care of it and you will be worried about it whenever you have still images on the screen. For example, when playing video games, static UI elements like health bars have potential to burn into the screen. I can never 100% comfortably play games for long durations without worrying about this. Be patient and buy TVs when they are on sale. I got this TV for $500 dollars off just checking randomly one day. You will not be disappointed.

OLEDs get a bad rap, but if you know what you’re doing you will never have to deal with those stereotypical problems. That being said, within a two week period I purchased 3 TVs. The first, and worst, was the Samsung Q7FN. I took it back less than 24 hours later. The second was the Sony X900F. This is a great LED TV, and did a decent job, but I wanted more. The last was the LG B8 55” (same size I got for the other 2). Nothing else compares in terms of image quality. Even upscaled 1080p content looks great. One of the common misconceptions is that OLEDs can’t be in a room with a lot of daylight. Our living room has 3 big bay windows, and with the blinds drawn open during the day, we never struggle to see. Also everyone wants peak nits brightness...when u need an LED to convince u that blacks rea actually black, u really have kick up the highest peak brightness. For OLED the blacks do all the work and the peak brights still punch, and all without the light bleed. I keep my OLED light to 50 or 60 to keep the display from dying out as fast as those people who want super saturation and what not. I vary a lot of content, I stream Netflix, game on an Xbox One X and stream other apps through the TV and the game console, and obviously game. Not one thing looks bad. It all meets and exceeds my expectations. Black crush is to some a concern, but this TV can hit perfect blacks, and blacks in between that usually get dirty or washed out on LED TVs. Black crush is what happens on LED TVs when they have to try to bring down light bleed, but in doing so the picture quality suffers. Not on OLED...they are perfect blacks with no odd display weirdness.

Great OLED tv! The b8 has a great picture and sound. The web OS operating system is fast and easy to use. The remote is outstanding. It is compact and intuitive. The tv has a lot of inputs including some that will help connect older av gear. Another plus is firmware updates that have added features such as airplay. Almost two years of ownership and no burn in issues.

I bought this TV on Black Friday on sale. Everything about this TV is exactly what you expect with such a purchase. The colors are unbelievable and the TV is truly in a class of it's one. I upgraded from a 1080P LG TV and everything is noticeable cleaner and more clear. The blacks are truly black and unless you see it in person you truly do not know what you are missing. Furthermore, I don't have cable and the online connectivity of this TV is flawless and seamles. Apps are easily accessed and downloaded, setup is simple and straightforward, and the overall experience is perfect. The only flaw, and it is a very minor one, is the controller. In general the controller is amazing however, there is no blacklight. Now as stated, this is extremely minor and picky however, for a $2000 dollar TV I get to be picky. Other than that minor and mostly irrelevant issue this TV is a must have.

Once you go OLED , you never go back!!! The blacks are amazing!! I regret not purchasing this earlier considering how many great movies I watched on non -oled tvs. (I’m rewatching all of em). You don’t see the blooming effect at all, of course that’s OLED for you! But I’m also glad I waited long enough for the price to be almost slashed to half and not pay a premium price tag that these TVs have right out of the manufacturers door. I’ll upgrade to 65 or 75 OLED once the price is right. So far this is one of the best TVs I’ve purchased!!! You can’t go wrong. I’ve read a few reviews where they complained that if you leave your tv picture paused for long , there’ll be burn-in. But LG comes with a screen saver out of the box that won’t let your pic paused for too long. So there you go. Don’t hesitate, if the price is right for you, get it. Oh one last thing, this tv has survived a cross country uhaul truck ride when we moved from Midwest to East securing it only in the box it came in. And it survived my kid’s toy-throwing-at-the-screen mornings a couple of times(luckily). This exhibits the build quality!!! Go for it!

I own last years 65' Sony Bravia 900E and this year's Samsung 49NU8000, then recently I bought this beauty, This 55 inch LG B8 OLED Tv quality is amazing for the price I paid on Black Friday! The C8 has a newer processor for the extra couple hundred dollars, but the B8's quality is supreb and you can naturally tell the difference unless you have the hardware to test the comparisons. Vibrant colors and nautral deep blacks, this Tv is awesome for movies, gaming, sports, all of the above and more! If you're looking for similar quality but you fear burn in issues could be a future problem after long periods of use, go with this years less expensive Sony 900F, or the Samsung NU8000, both great LCD alternatives!

This is my first OLED TV and I have to say, I love it so far. Movies look really good with great contrast and very dark blacks. HDR10 and Dolby Vision work well on most titles on 4k UHD Blurays that have them. Videogames look awesome with more colors that seem to pop more. Overall, very happy!

I absolutely love this TV, the picture is in a class of its own from any other TV I have looked at or bought in the past. The true blacks are exactly that true black and overall it makes things look so much better even if they are not in 4K and as far as 4K and UHD filmed things I havent found another tv other than the more expensive OLED ones that can compare and no brand that has a "comparable" tv hold up. This one was next to a QLED tv and the QLED looks like garbage compared to this. The only thing is I would highly suggest investing in a sound bar, the speakers on this are good but I think the way they are set up makes them not as effective as they could be but a sound bar paired with the TV fixes that problem and actually makes things way better. All around though a great TV and I would highly recommend this to anyone.

This television is worth every penny. Incredible picture, sound and set up was easy! Within 10 minutes of mounting and turning it on and walking through the setup i was watching my new tv. Built in Netflix and Amazon prime buttons on the remote (with speaking capabilities) and i am sure there are other apps you could download is pretty convenient. Replaced a 40” Samsung original LED (still works) but recently wall mounted it and was to small. After doing my research, reading other reviews and looking at the television in person i am glad i picked this model. The C8 only difference is the processor and for $300 more the salesman said i couldn’t tell the difference if you put them side by side. Can’t wait to watch the Patriots win their 6th Super Bowl on it!!

Hello Cleveland! I did a lot of nerding out on the internet before making this purchase. Specs and measurements mean nothing if it just doesn’t look good and this one just DOES look FANTASTIC! Crystal clear images and amazingly realistic, true to life color are one thing but the blacks are the blackest blacks that have ever blacked... When you look at it’s like, how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black. HDR and Dolby Vision content is mind blowing!!! It looks as good at home as the demo in the store. Best. Picture. Ever. (It goes to eleven)
