I am definitely one of the slow and deliberate types when it comes to technology purchases. I was still using the large Sony Wega tube televisions when most people had already gone over to LCD. Partly because I was that picky about Picture Quality. But also because I always want to buy quality even if it means spending more. I didn’t go with an LCD flat panel TV until 6 years ago and it was also a Sony. I am still using that TV in a bedroom. I waited 2 months to post this review because I wanted to be sure before giving my opinion. Despite a few small issues, I think I made the right choice. The PQ is simply exceptional. You will have to fiddle with the settings until you get it right. Everyone’s taste is going to differ so no sense in sharing mine here. Also sites like CR and RTINGS will give you their settings and that’s a place to start but I can tell you those settings were not perfect for me. Things I like; the pointer remote is really nice and allows me to even work my Apple TV without swapping remotes out. Why Apple TV? Because HBO isn’t available on any smart tv platform except Samsung because of some exclusive deal from what I understand. So that’s a dislike! The viewing angles, colors and sound are exceptional as well. Minor dislikes: the tv WiFi seems weak or else the Sling app is finicky on the webOS platform. I got some buffering via WiFi especially on Sling so I went with a WiFi extender with Ethernet to the tv and now that problem is mostly gone. But I still see some buffering when first loading Sling and changing between Sling screens. This doesn’t occur with Sling on Apple TV or Roku platforms. Overall setup: I am using this TV with a TiVo Bolt and OTA antenna on my roof. I also use the Apple TV (not 4K) for HBO as mentioned. And it’s connected to a Denon AVR with 5.1 Boston Acoustics speakers and Velodyne sub setup. I’ve got all the most common streaming services as well suck as Netflix, Amazon and Sling. I also occasionally use Redbox steaming or rent a Blu-ray which I play on an old Sony Blu-ray (not 4K). With this setup and now this great TV especially, there is no need for cable. After 30+ years of paying for cable service we are done as of a year ago and don’t miss it at all. The TiVo was key to that because of the built in DVR and you must have a good antenna. The streaming services help too - especially the Sling. Also it’s now hard to leave the house to go see a movie, concert or sporting event. It’s honestly that good!

Owned this TV for little over 3 weeks and here are a few observations: 1) The top part of the TV is paper-thin so don't press too hard when handling it. 2) The sound quality is above-average. It gets loud, not too much bass but still sounds better than most TVs on the market today. 3) Don't expect all the contents you watch is like the demo at the store. Some will look great while others make you shake your head. 4) Blacks on the TV look impressive because the OLED screen each pixel is turned off so it gives your absolute black. 5) Picture settings...there are many. I'm still playing around with it to get the best possible picture. Great TV, recommend buy.

The picture quality is great specially the sharpness and clarity. This product is a marvel of art and technology. With its sleek and slim design and breath taking image quality I would definitely recommend it. Built-in speakers sound quality is great for single room, but if you are placing it in big living room then sound bar is preferable. I went for B8 series instead of C-series because B8 is more economical and has almost similar features as C9. Furthermore I bought it on sale so it was cheaper as compared to original price.

Love the depth of color, clarity and crispness of picture. My only concern is what I read about burn in, but purchased the five year geek squad protection plan. I guess time will tell?

I’m a previous Samsung plasma guy and let me tell you, that picture quality was un matched by most modern Led TVs. Obviously if you want brightness then go LED. BUT THIS Lg B8 made my transition to LED much smoother and better for my eyes. I loved the soft brightness that plasma emitted as it was easy on my eyes. This tv has a phenomenal picture. And it’s the closest I can get to plasma with it’s perfect blacks and unlimited contrast ratio. So glad I made this purchase. I got it on a 4th of July sale that was incomparable and so hard to overlook. So glad I made the purchased. I’ve fallen in love all over again with my home theater entertainment.

This OLED TV has a great picture! I am amazed how much better than my old Panasonic Plazma. As another has stated I would have, given the chance purchased the model with the 2018 processor. Unfortunately when I bought it I was under the impression this had the new processor. I am not sure if it is the streaming source or the processor but I have noticed an momentary interruption when streaming YouTube Music Videos just into the video, I did not have this on my ROKU device. I also have had some movies streamed from Amazon Prime freeze yet the sound is still normal, I had never had that happen before. The magic remote is a bit of a disappointment, I am having to reset it a couple of times a week as it locks up. The picture is great, not so sure about the processor and the remote is not so good. I will not recommend this TV as I would go with the next model up with the new processor.

This a really great TV. The resolution and contrast is awesome. Watching 4K is a terrific viewing experience and sports viewing is exceptional. My viewing distance is about 9 feet, and the 55" screen is the perfect size. I view primarily Netflix and Amazon and the new processor switches between the two and loads content really fast. I can't think of anything lacking in this unit.

Great picture quality. The picture quality is on a different order of quality compared to even the best LED TV's. I am now kicking myself for waiting so long to step up to an OLED. The simulated HDR, although not perfect, is good enough in combination with the perfect blacks of the OLED to make a case against having to buy 4k HDR versions of your favorite movies. The video perfectionist will not be convinced, but the average person might. Had a slight problem connecting it to an LG xx-90 4K player, but it worked just fine with the Samsung 8500. I would recommend this to anyone who can afford it . You will not be disappointed.

Would give this TV a five-star rating, but have only had it a month. The picture quality, especially in watching 4K is outstanding! Working the settings and menus takes a little getting use to, but is easy to figure out. The internal speakers are good quality sound, but recommend getting a sound bar or a theater system for the ultimate experience. The picture quality was the main deciding factor in purchasing it. The only disappointment was that is has no 3.5mm output jack for sound so I could use my wireless headphones. My precious headphones allowed others to listen to the TV at the volume comfortable for them, and the headphone allowed me to hear it better due to a hearing problem. Had to purchase a bluetooth headset to use only to find that you can have either the TV speakers or the bluetooth headphones. You can not have both at the same time. That is my only complaint on this TV. Even so, the picture quality made the purchase worth it.

Always loved the picture since I first saw it in Best Buy When LG brought the OLED TVs to market. It was only unit I thought could replace my plasma TV black levels. It did not disappoint! Got this TV on Best Buy sale for under $1K which made it a great deal! This LG is a year behind, but not sure current year unit is worth the price difference. Setup was easy! TV picked correct max resolutions with no hassle! Works great with Apple TV 4K and Roku premiere+. Sound is good through 7.1 system. Only negatives are strange remote and lack of documentation(available on LG website though)

A long search led to the B8. It was well worth it. The colors are fantastic, the motion is clean and the sound clear. Chose this over the Sony X900F and the Q9F, and it was well worth it. The OLED difference is real, and it truly brings everything to life.

I planned on purchasing a lower model TV to replace a 5 year old Samsung that we were never really happy with. I did not intend to purchase this model as it was more than I wanted to spend but after comparing the picture quality and the amazing deal Best Buy had on this set there was no comparison. The picture is clear from all angles it’s easy to setup and use all features. Couldn’t be happier with this choice. The only issue we had was our wall mount placed the set very high due to the design of this TV so we had to modify the bracket.

I’ve never owned nor watched a tv with a picture as crisp! The colors pop. Black is black. You can see the screen without distortion standing almost even with it to the side. My friends stand in awe when they first see the screen. Then they curse me because they want one. It’s that good. The native sound is decent but not great. I run mine, via Toslink, through my amplifier and 5.1 system. I think even a good sound bar and sub would work well. But the picture...it’s just amazing!

the lg oled b8 55in is an excellent tv. The colors are deep and true to life. Fine detail for 1080p and 4k images are very sharp. Well done 4k blurays are very impressive. I'm all about picture quality (could care less about about all of the "smart" features, which this tv seems to have many) and this tv meets my expectations. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

The LG OLED 2160p Smart 4K UHD with HDR produces the most crisply contoured images I have ever observed on a television screen. The blacks are no longer shadows, they are onyx-like jewels that pull you into their depths. Watching outdoor programming on this TV is like standing in front of an open window, within a finger's touch of the animals, trees, flowers, birds, and waterways. I cannot imagine more concise colors or images on another set.

Been looking at these TVs for a while. Loved the depth of color, the sound from this tv is amazing right out of the box. Took me a minute to figure out how to get my PS4 Pro to do HDR only because the picture looked so amazing I didn’t realize it wasn’t. I honestly just watch a bunch of toddler TV on it, my kid says she loves it. Haven’t watched to many movies but the Black Panther shows off the ability of this TV.

After tons of research on different OLED TVs the LG came out as the best choice for me. A year later and I am still very happy with my purchase. I do still wish LG would fix the price gap between the 55 inch and 65 inch was not so disproportional. It was nearly twice as much to go from the 55 to the 65. I guess I should be happy to have found such a great deal on the 55 b8 model.
