This is only visible when your looking at the same level as the burner top. I believe this is left open to dissipate heat from the convection oven. This gap needs a panel to hide this opening that is visible. This is a poor design.

Then unless we were heating the oven up to a temperature greater than 400°, it does not stay hot. It will heat up to whatever temperature you set it at -325, 350 etc. - but then will start to cool down again, because whatever mechanism tells it to continue heating no longer works. I have to pay for a service repair man to come out and re-calibrate it berceuse it of course, stopped working right after the one year warranty expired. $1000 oven should not break within 15 months of regular use. Just for reference, we use the stove top to cook once a night and the actual oven to cook on average 3 to 4 times a week. We make meals that takes about 30 minutes to cook except for the three times a year when I make a meal in the oven that takes an hour to two hours to cook. It’s not excessive use. I’m so annoyed.
