Avoid OLED Tech due to Pixel Burn-In

Major pixel "Burn-In" after about a year in use. Also, had a service event less in first year to replace "power on" circuit. Beautiful picture and awesome user interface does not make up for the burn in. After glowing about it to friends, we watch movies on it and TMobile commercial shows all the burn in logos of CNN, GMA, and Breaking News all over the bottom. I don't even watch CNN that much and definitely do not leave it on any station longer than normal. Disappointed because the first year was heaven with the 4K. Trying to get LG to replace panel now and its a process in itself since its not specifically covered under warranty. The panel clear process the TV comes with does not work. The sales people don't tell you about this so that is why I am posting my review.

    Beware of image burn in!!!

Stay away from this TV. I paid $5k for this back in August 2016 and now there is permanent image burn in on the bottoms of the screen from watching cable news channels. I tried the pixel refresh feature many times but it doesn't work. LG claims these TVs won't get image burn in or shadowing but that's not true. They also won't cover this condition in their warranty. Mine has image burn in and now I'm stuck with this expensive TV that I'll have to replace very soon because it annoys me and is all I see when I watch it. I'll never by another LG product. I've had Panasonic and Sony TVs in the past and had no issues. This was my first and will be my last LG anything.

DO NOT BUY--OLED BURN LG DOESNT STAND BEHIND

I will never buy an OLED LG TV, or an LG TV again for that matter. You will get picture burn in even with normal in home use. It is quite frustrating paying a lot of money for a TV and then to have these issues. LG is no help on the issue and will not stand behind their product. I would suggest Samsung, have never had any issues with their TVs. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY AWAY!!

Spent $3k on this TV and after a year, huge green spots started to appear on screen. Called LG, they said it was caused by over heating but since it was out of warranty, I would have to pay to get it fixed. $3k for a tv that lasted 1 year. Total rip off.

Picture quality is amazing but sadly, after four years normal use, the panel is degrading with dead pixels. In the attached photos, see how the left top corner is black, compared to the right.

Plasma being the benchmark unto which all pictures(TV's) should be judged. OLED technology is as close to plasma as you can get. Excellent off axis viewing, dynamic range, color reproduction. The operating system WEB OS makes setup/connectivity incredibly easy. As a smart TV it offers many different functions. There is a slight amount of jitter during fast moving action but it is hardly noticeable. The biggest complaint would be the magic remote is not so magic. You can only program the remote to work with accessory devices if they are directly connected to the TV. If you connect your devices through a home theater receiver you cannot program the remote to work with the devices. Therefore, I recommend purchasing a separate programmable remote. In summation, there is no finer TV you can purchase. It's not cheap, but you'll agree it's worth every dollar once it's setup in your living room. CAUTION: After setting up the surround sound home theater system with the TV all our neighbors are coming over every weekend for cinema night! Hmmmmm maybe I can start selling tickets.

    Great picture, bent panel

I'll start by saying I am VERY particular about my tech and this review is strictly about the LG 65" B6 and not Best Buy at all. At a price of $3,299 the B6 was not my first choice. I started with the Samsung KS9500 but returned it due to its edge lighting (which is terrible). I then returned the Samsung and bought the Sony x930D as it was supposed to manage the edge lighting a bit better. It did, but wasn't perfect. The problem I had with the Sony way it being android. It kept locking up on me. Finally, I saw the B6 on sale ($2799) so returned the Sony and bought it. Amazing picture. Best TV I have had. Picture and motion have been amazing. Why 4 stars? I am currently waiting on Best Buy to call me back about the replacement B6 I received today that has the same issue as the original B6 - It's bent. Not creased bent, but looking at it from the side, it's not completely flat. The first one I bought was wavy so I went back in and spoke with the sales guys about it. No problem. Let's get another. None in stock, so sure I can wait. This one still functions properly. They even had it set up to be delivered to me and pick up the first one. Today, the replacement was delivered. Opened the box... results: bent. The attached photos show both TVs. I called LG to see if there were any other options aside from exchanging it again. The rep told me she hadn't even heard of this issue before and said the best option was an exchange because it's not supposed to be like that. So, I call the local BB and guess what? None in stock now as this one still sits in the box and I wait for a return call after they talk with a manager to see what option is best. To be clear, this review is strictly on the LG B6 and not Best Buy. They have handled this the best way they can and have very little control over how items come out of the box. During the writing of this review I received a call back and it seems that they are going to have this taken care of potentially better than expected. At the very least, all I want is a flat TV.

I highly recommend you read professional reviews and you will find that this is easily overall the best consumer TV available in late 2016. And, with the price cuts by LG and Black Friday sales, it is a no brainer if you can afford it. 10-bit color, all four ports support 60 Hz 4K deep color (HDMI 2.0a) and HDCP 2.2, plus HDR10 (sometimes called HDR1000 by others) AND Dolby Vision, and 98% P3 color gamut. Virtually everything is adjustable, making it easy to get a fantastic picture. Brighter than my plasma and better picture. It blow away my LCD also. Looked at very top Sony LCD, nice, but can't live with its poor viewing angle. Nothing is perfect, 65" is a bit small for me but $20k is too much for the 77" model. A few other minor setting quibbles that aren't persistent, but that is it. Sound is much better than others I considered, but no replacement for a good sound bar, much less Atmos.

Color and contrast is truly awesome.. Motion, color shading, and up converting non 4k broadcasts is not good (get weird edge effects and un-realistic shading when the source is not 4k). Bottom line is that TV broadcasts and 1080p video looks better on a 1080p TV set than it does on this 4k set.. That said, once a 4k signal is provided, this TV looks better than any other set currently available, and the HDR is amazing.

Did a lot of research on CNET and eslsewhere after being burned on a Samsung SUHD TV that at 15 months (and out of warranty) developed lines and blotches that made any white screen a distraction to watch. Cost of the repair out of warranty almost as much as the original cost of the TV. After researching I bought into the concept of OLED. Believe me there is a huge difference in color clarity and quality. Debating whether to go for professional calibration. There are so many options to adjust picture quality I'm inclined to leave it to the professionals. Sales price at 2999 really should make it a no brainer with similar high end LEDs

For reference, my previous tv was the infamous Pioneer Elite KURO. This LG OLED B6 is an amazing TV and I'm very happy I upgraded. I have had it for 2 months and here are my impressions so far: Pros: Blacks, like lights off dark room black. Contrast is great and colors are amazing. Each HDMI input can save its own picture setting profile, which is convenient. The TV switches to HDR 10 or Dolby Vision when it detects the source, which allows an additional picture setting profile. HDR/DV is where this TV shines. It seems to upscale non 4k content well, and even standard blurays look amazing. CONS: The TV struggles a little bit within the near black range. Because the TV seems to very accurately display exactly what it receives from a source, it shows every imperfection. This is noticeable when the source material is compressed and usually shows up as posterization. I'm also running sound out from the TV to a soundbar via the HDMI ARC, there are occasional drops outs but I don't know if its caused by the TV or the soundbar. I have not had mine professionally calibrated yet, but I plan on it. Also, I don't have a UHD BluRay Player yet, holding out for one that is DV compatible. Overall, I have not regrets getting this TV!

I read reviews before making any decision; alot of reviews. IMHO this is the best picture you can get without spending a fortune. Blacks are really black. Picture detail is astounding at 4K. HDR will make you feel like you can reach out and touch things even if it isn't 3D. It is THAT amazing. I recently went to an IMax theater to and was shocked to realize this TV has a BETTER picture than IMax. Keep in mind that my TV room is dark which is where this set really performs. If you have a dark home theater room, GET THIS TV!

After reading many reviews I decided to purchase the LG OLED 4K Ultra HD TV. I have not been disappointed. The picture is fantastic. Very easy to set up. Lots of customization features (if you wish to do those). The magic remote that came with the TV is pretty nice. There are a couple of features I wish it had that it doesn't - like being able to push one button to record the TV program you are watching. Other than the minor remote issues (or shortfalls) I am completely satisfied with my purchase.

This is the ultimate TV if you love movies! Watching 4K with HDR for the first time on this TV was like the first time watching HD years ago. The color variation is unbelievable. As well as the black contrast. You will need to calibrate your set to get the best out of it on regular TV, as well as turn off all the judder and smoothing settings to get rid of the soap opera affects. But when you hook up a UHD bluray player with HDR the capablities of this TV shine!!!

Been researching this TV for some time and finally made the purchase. The picture is fantastic. Great blacks even in our well lit room. Viewing angle is fabulous. I can stand to the side in our kitchen and there is no wash out. My only complaint (minor) is that you can't watch video with flashplayer on the internet. Tried watching CBS online and it won't play without flashplayer. Still worth it and glad I purchased this TV.

The pic on an LED just can't compare to the old Plasma's, until now. The LG OLED's are great. No white bleed, almost unlimited contrast, no blur at all. It really is miraculous. They are not so good for gaming because of lag (although I wouldn't know about that since I only use mine for watching), but the picture is great for movies. Only downside is that they are expensive. But if you can afford it - go for it.

OLED were price inhibitive and LED LCD TVs were a compromise to that. Finally I found this at open box section and I knew I have to buy it! In one word - AWESOME. OLEDs have better color than any LED LCD 4K sets on market. When it goes black in dark scene - boy oh boy! LG OLEDs will beat any high end Sony or Samsung 4K set. Very sharp, bright and perfect picture. The profile is very thin as well. 4K videos are mind blowing. Our living room is not truly dark in the morning, but TV still produces great picture. I would highly recommend OLEDs now that prices are coming down as well. TV has verity of inputs to select from, HD to 4K upscaling is very good. TV can play number of video formats directly from HDD. Sound from TV is very good - Harmon Kardon did a good job. We have ours mounted on the wall - be mindful of swivel mounts and not to pull TV hard. Geek Squad person told to old and use the TV mount itself instead. One minor issue with newer LG OLEDs is limited number of TV mounts. But you have options for full motion mounts from Rocketfish and Sanus.

Cried the day that plasma died

I was so disappointed the day Panasonic decided to stop making plasma TVs I didn't know what I was going to do when I decided to get a larger screen and upgrade to 4K technology. Well after seeing this TV and doing extensive reviews, I decided to spend the extra dollars and go for it and boy am I glad I did. Now granted my Panasonic plasma isn't 4K but it was calibrated and the picture was amazing. The picture quality of the LG Oled is the plasma on steroids. The black levels are amazing and the colors blow me away. It is far more than I have ever spent on a TV which is the one downside to this technology but every time I watch sports or a movie that guilty feeling quickly fades. If there is anything that I find as a negative it's the thinness of the screen. Now I know that thin is in but I'm almost too afraid to move the tv (it's on a stand) because the slightest touch shakes the screen so you definitely want to make sure that there is no chance anyone can come into contact with the set if you don't have it mounted.

Shopped long and hard. Lots of TV's with pretty pictures these days. Almost settled a few times. But I wanted the pure blacks only OLED can provide. Not that much HDR content out there yet, but what I have seen is stunning, and this TV does it all! Even the upscaling of SD pictures is impressive. Honestly could not be happier with a TV.
