This tv is amazing! Some of the information is not accurate as described. LG has 2 models for this tv. One model is 65EG9600-UA and the other is 65EG9600-UB. The 'UB' designation does in fact have HDR support via HDMI ports (HDMI 2.0a) despite what it is listed as on the site and even despite what LG has stated. LG might not be saying anything since they don't want to replace those UA models? They have replaced the UA models in Europe with the newer model so not sure why they aren't here in the US. Anyways, if you have a 'UB' model it does have HDR via streaming and HDMI. The picture is amazing. I have never seen contrast like I have on this television. The blacks are exactly that...black. Fluid motion without judder and blur on everything I have watched (sports and video games included). I have not purchased a UHD player yet, but I cannot wait to do so as my regular bluray player and movies already look amazing on this tv. It is a little pricey, but now with the 2016 models out they have come down in price. I am not sure what the main difference is between the 2015 and 2016, but if you have a UB model I can't imagine it being much as HDR is the latest tech. OLED is the way to go if you are a picture perfect person. Each individual pixel is lit on its own giving infinite contrast. Prime and Netflix currently stream in 4K and what I have seen via those apps on this set is superb! If you have the extra dough...GET AN OLED TV!

The Third Time Was A Mind-blowing Charm

After being unsatisfied with the picture quality from a set priced about $2K less from another vendor, we decided to take the plunge because what we saw in the stores was just incredible. As advertised, the picture was AMAZING in our living room. What I did not expect was how thin it was (which was actually the reason we bought the other vendor's product initially). What a nice surprise. Unfortunately, a week later, the HDMI 1 input went dead on us for no reason. The others worked fine but then we tried a 3D movie for the first time and there was severe ghosting/cross-talk. We made the hard decision to dismount and return. Fortunately, they had another 65" in stock so we took it home and discovered at home that the box was punctured (forklift?). We hoped that the set wasn't damaged but that was not the case as we unwrapped. The panel was grotesquely bent and it looked like such a waste. We took it back the first thing the next morning and picked up another a day later. Nothing but PERFECTION since. Everyone who sees the picture (even just regular 1080p/i sources) exclaims how incredible the picture looks. Blu-Rays just look unfair. I am not sure what I should be seeing for HDR as I don't notice a difference when streaming HDR movies but there is more to come there I am sure. Either way, very happy camper here.

    PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING

Hello All, I have researched extensively on the capabilities of LED/OLED TV's this past year; adding "Edge Lit vs. Back Lit" to the list of comparison pro's and con's. First and foremost, edge lit technology, whether it be Samsung, Sony, LG, etc, is a fad mostly to sell on the "thin" technology of panels. Edge Lit TV's do not and will not have the same capabilities of a Back Lit panel, just ask any Magnolia/BestBuy associate. With that being said, OLED TV's (currently only made efficiently by LG), have superior imaging and contrast in their color depth simply because of the ability for each pixel to be organically self lit (eacg pixel has it's own signal, all 8 million of them). The incredible contrast of this TV in particular is made possible because of the ability for the pixels to turn off completely for a "true black". Edge Lit panels have light bleeding issues around the edge of the screen (where the LEDs project the image on the screen), especially when watching media that has a different aspect ratio than the TV itself, 16:9. The light seeps past the default black bars on top and bottom of the content you are watching and looks all together horrible. Check out the reviews for the Sony 900C if you desire a reference. As far as this LG EG9600 OLED TV is concerned, it has the absolute best technology on the planet for creating smooth, consistent, vibrant imagery without a compromising design/hardware flaw. If you are looking for a TV that will end your search for years to come, 4k or regular HD content looks stunningly beautiful. I have had several friends come visit me after purchasing the 65" OLED and each one of them has been blown away by this TV - and wait until you use the 2D-3D function! True enthusiasts need only know this: stop searching, your TV is here. Please let me know if this review was in any way helpful. Thank you LG.

    Not Perfect...but Awesome!

Ok, I'm very picky when it comes to tvs. We all should be. I haven't been able to find a 4k set that I really liked until this one. Awesome black levels and vibrant colors. You really have to see this tv in person to appreciate the picture. I did notice some banding on dark scenes and occasional judder especially on the Amazon app at times. Compared to all the other tvs on the market, I was willing to let those things slide this time around. Netflix 4K looks great and 1080p content really pops as well. The apps on the TV are kinda limited to MLB, Netflix, Amazon, Spotify, YouTube and a few other good ones you will want to use. Apple TV 4 would be a great streaming box to pair with this tv. I got a fantastic deal on this tv and decided on it over the Samsung UN65KS8500. If you can get this TV at the right price, it's a no-brianer. Pros: Amazing black levels Beautiful design Nice remote Decent sound Vibrant colors Cons: Wasn't able to use the LG mount because I had my wires and power in the center and the mount wouldn't work. Not a lot of quality apps Occasional judder issues Poor performance on dark scenes with color banding. Tip: After you run the firmware update and the TV restarts back, run it for a bit and unplug the tv for a few minutes and then check for updates again. I didn't realize I had a new firmware update and the last one was a huge improvement.

Not much 4k content out there yet-WAIT!

Im basing my review on today. Man, what a lesson we learned! There is barely any 4k content out there so there so we couldn't justify keeping this tv we spent $8000 on. Here are some important things to know before purchasing! 1) the display in the store only features their 4k content so it looks amazing! All other channels are 1080 so it was just like our 4 year old tv. 2) You must change your cable box (us directv) so you can actually use the 4k feature. 3) There aren't many movies that are 4k ultra HD with any cable company. 4) 4k ultra hd movies are $12.99 to rent and the selection is slim! 5) There is only one channel the shows 4k content. 6) 3d is a cool feature on the tv but again not a ton of 3d movies that look great. 7) the curve and the glass shows a lot of glare. best if its in a super dark room. 8) expect to pay a few more hundred dollars for 4k hdmi cables -Seriously! 9) the protection plan is $1299 -not joking thats how we got to 8k! Bottom line is WAIT! Why have a Tv you can barley use the feature they advertise. even directv said wait a few years after the new features come out bc its useless. Its a beautiful Tv, don't get me wrong but the picture on most channels was what we already had. Just a few things to think about before buying. Maybe in a year or two well try again for now we returned it-which was a pain too!

I had the opportunity and took a risk in selling my Samsung 65JS900 and going for this LG OLED TV. I have the TV set up in a dimly lit basement and the difference between the picture quality was significant to me. Where with the Samsung the color saturation would make the picture incredibly but unnatural and had a decrease in visibility if you were not sitting dead center while viewing. As advertised the OLED true black has no glare and no halo affects that were seen with the LED set. If price is not a concern

I purchased my EG9600 several months ago, and have been in love with it ever since! Picture quality is incredible, almost too good to use with pre 4k resolutions! Blu Ray movies are excellent, the upconvert works well. Anything less looks a little grainy. Cannot wait to purchase a 4k player to truly test the television's abilites.

Best tv I have owned so far. Color is amazing when watching any type of content whether its 4k resolution or not it still looks fantastic. Gaming on the xbox looks better than ever with this tv. Glad i picked one up. Like others have mentioned, it only has 3 hdmi ports which for me however, is the exact amount that i use so there is no problem for me there. The only issue I had was mounting it on the stand, It felt so flimsy that I had a hard time trying to screw it on while not snapping the tv in half. Other than that difficulty, everything is great on the tv.
