This TV looks amazing and I am very happy with it. The interfaces are user friendly and I love the remote with quick access to Amazon, Netflix, Hulu! Never thought I’d purchase a big screen Tv with this price tag but I love the look of it in my home and because it is mounted I can see it from different areas in my home. I was also able to get it $300 cheaper because of the pre-Black Friday deals!!

Not very good with dark scenes. Contrast really suffers. I even calibrated with a couple different softwares. Local dimming is quite horrible. I honestly believed I had a defective unit until I saw the same results on Rtings website. The tv that was supposed to be replaced by this, has better blacks and it doesn’t even have local dimming. I took it back due to bad blacks and bad light bleed even when using local dimming. I mostly watch tv at night and this was super distracting. Especially considering this isn’t cheap. HDR didn’t look well. On the pictures I added, the top is the LG and bottom is my old 1080p. Top right corner shows light bleed at where there should be a Black horizontal bar.

Beyond belief I am absolutely amazed at how well the picture is. The overall and set up was great as well except for setting up the Direct TV. Fortunately was able to schedule Direct TV for the next day.

I bought this tv for a new house, hung it up in my mancave, and within 2 weeks my wifes cousin found a reason to move into my mancave and take up residence on the couch for the last 4 months. I mean... 65” Super UHD!!! Can you blame him?!

I love this TV. We were thinking about a 70” UHD 4K but saw the difference in picture quality between the Super UHD 4K and I’m so happy with the decision.

I recently bought a 75" LG TV and was so impressed by it that I bought this 65". The 4K Super UHD is mind blowing. The internal speaker is loud and crisp. The LG WebOS and remote are fantastic! This TV is so good its turning me into a couch potato!!

(Jump to the 3rd paragraph AND very bottom for the meat and potatoes) I own a 55 inch LG 3D Smart Tv back from 2012 (which after 2016, there were no more 3D tvs if that's your thing). We still love that tv to this day and the picture quality and etc is great for it's time as well as the 3D quality is a 10 out of 10. With this being said, me and my wife REALLY wanted to support this 65 inch tv, but ultimately we returned it a week later for a Sony 900e. We needed a 65 inch for gaming, movies, regular tv, and etc. It was the 12ms input lag for gaming that also pushed us towards this tv for online competitive playing which we do a lot of when we do play. I spent over 2 months daily reading and watching videos online as well as visiting the store to see it in person and was sold. The whole IPS vs VA panel issue wasn't even much of a factor in terms of annoyance (we need wide viewing angles in our living room). I knew about the black levels issue with HDR/Dolby Vision content, but I figured the reviews were blowing it out of proportion and it can't be worse than our LG 3D TV (meaning it HAS to be better being this is a Nano Cell TV). I was wrong, it was a deal breaker, and my wife even agreed lol! Pros: - The tv is a looker and will look great in your home! - The Web OS 3.5 system is super fast with a great layout. - The ability to play Dolby Vision content was one of the reasons why I chose this tv over other brands for the price point. Honestly, if you don't have the money for a top tier tv at 65 inches (which gets very pricey very quickly at that size), you don't need Dolby Vision if a tv can do HDR "BETTER" than Dolby Vision (hello Sony 900e). - The wide color gamut with the Nano Cell made colors pop and looks amazing! - The IPS panel (in-plane switching) did it's job to keep the colors accurate at wide viewing angles in our living room for guests. - Great price for what you get especially at the sale prices CONS CONS CONS, DEALBREAKER CONS! Disclaimer: You WON'T be able to see these issues in the store while the tvs are in store mode! - Local Dimming banding issue. (See the picture I posted as example) WARNING: You won't see this issue in the store! This was the MAIN REASON why we returned this tv (for the Sony 900e. When you watch 4K HDR/Dolby Vision content (even regular tv and etc), any dark scenes show big white columns on the screen as well as the edge lit lights in the 4 corners of the tv, and this DISTRACTS, ANNOYS, and RUINS the viewing experience, even when trying HARD to overlook it. YouTube 4k tv light banding and local dimming issues. AVOID Edge Lit Local Dimming with a PASSION shy of MAYBE the Sony 930e that has a special dual edge lit local dimming VA panel (another topic). - (You MIGHT be able to see this in the store if the employees let you lol, MAYBE, but look at my pictures for that example) The lack of deep black levels and this one issue hurts the viewing experience. Again, we have a 55 inch LG 3D TV that we love that has this issue, so we tried to overlook it, but with the 4K quality content, it's a lot more apparent despite us still LOVING out 3D LG TV. The reason why OLED has all the hype is the realistic deep black levels allows the other colors to pop and etc. IT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE IN YOUR VIEWING EXPERIENCE....believe the internet videos and reviews. Blacks look gray and you can't see shadow detail. Any LCD 4K TV with FALD (FULL LOCAL ARRAY DIMMING) should virtually solve this problem (i.e. TCL P605, Vizio M or P Series, and Sony 900e and up models). Bottom line: I STRONGLY suggest investing in the Sony 900e since they're on sale to make room for the new 900F model if you want the BEST PICTURE QUALITY FOR THE MONEY to cover gaming and input lag, movies, HDR content, regular tv use (i.e. DirecTV, Xfinity, etc), and app options. If this tv (LG SJ8500 not the Sony 900e) didn't have the light banding issue and lacked deep blacks, it would be a perfect 5 out of 5. If you must have a LCD LG TV instead of their OLEDs, I STRONGLY SUGGEST WAITING FOR THE SK9500 models dropping later this year (2018) that will have "FALD (Full Array Local Dimming)" that should fix the light banding and deep black issues. Also, DON'T GET CAUGHT UP ON THE DOLBY VISION DEAL LIKE I DID. I just HAD to have Dolby Vision at all costs at the sacrifice of more important issues such as picture quality ironically. Besides the obvious technical aspects, all Dolby Vision really does is make the 4K HDR content brighter and more contrast, especially if your tv doesn't get bright (and brightness is needed for darker HDR content). Brightness is even an issue for OLED and THIS IS WHERE LCD IS BETTER (in terms of brightness). We went with the Sony 900e because it does HDR content BETTER than Most tvs that can play Dolby Vision. On the Sony 900e, the HDR content is "brighter" and "more color contrast detail" than Dolby Vision on most/all sets shy of OLED and even THIS is debatable (IT'S THAT CLOSE). In the end, that's all you care about. On the content side, there's no license fees with HDR vs Dolby Vision, so this mean more content. Look at all the 4K DVDs in the store....99% of them are HDR and NOT Dolby Vision. IF YOU MUST HAVE DOLBY VISION, Get a TCL P605, Vizio M or P Series, or Sony 930E, 940, or go any OLEDs (they all have Dolby Vision support). Sony has new models out now so you could also get a Sony 900F that is virtually the equivalent to the 900e with a few upgrades but nothing significant according to reviews. Recommendations: If you're going OLED, you more than likely wouldn't be reading this in the first place, so with that being said, I will only recommend LCD tvs below that will give you a GREAT picture quality with FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) and option set for your money in order of best to worst. With this being said, the reviews don't lie. The Sony 900e will give you the BEST picture quality for the money, especially with them being on sale for the new models out now (i.e. 900F). BUDGET: 55 inches only: TCL P605 55-65+ inches: Sony 900e, Sony 900F, Sony 930e, Sony 940e, Vizio P Series (why does Best Buy not sell this model????), Vizio M Series

    Talking Smart TV

Well what can you say about a TV with a movie theatre quality picture that talks. I upgraded from a LG 4K TV that didn't have HDR and while I can say I loved the picture quality of my old TV, the extra detail of HDR on my new one is certainly noticed (for the extra money it should). When I was looking into the TV I didn't know it talked. It can be a little wordy and annoying (according to my daughter) but it does give useful information sometimes and you can activate the feature on initial set up or not if that isn't your type of thing. The magic remote is cool even though it seems a little more simple than my other LG remote which actually works for my new TV as well. I was disappointed when certain functions like the Live TV button which I liked were left off the remote, but pleasantly surprised to see that the TV still responded to all the functions of the old remote. The voice control for the most part is pretty good, with a misunderstanding every now and then. Overall a good purchase for a movie lover and a technology guy.

A beautiful picture with deep colors, intuitive remote control with great operating system, ease of use, good build, in my opinion this TV is better than Sony x900e which has a horrible operating system and other limitations (no Dolby Vision). In 2 years I plan to purchase an LG Oled after it has been perfected (burn in issues) and it’s more affordable for now this is a solid purchase. Extremely happy!

Recently purchased this TV for our living room. We researched many TV's for months prior to selecting this one. We looked at other TV's at our local Best Buy over the course of several weeks but kept coming back to this one. The picture is awesome, very close to OLED in my opinion but for less $. We knew we wanted HDR and it had to be minimum 65 inch. It includes Dolby Vision which was a huge selling point for us. The sound is amazing. We purchased the LG soundbar and subwoofer as a bundle package because we wanted home theater, surround sound but the internal audio on this TV is still pretty good. We've always had Samsung TV's. This is the first time we've purchased an LG TV and I am so glad we did. Very happy customer. Highly recommend!

This particular LG model has all the bells and whistles you can expect at this price point. This TV is used in a room with west facing windows and does a good job of handling the the sunlight. (Note - the TV is not a good prospect foe a home theater set-up in a darkened room. Go with one of the LG OLEDs for a dark home theater setting) I don't care too much for the Magic Remote but it may be the "old man" side of my personality asserting itself. If you stream content from Amazon Prime or Netflix you are in for a treat as both picture and sound are excellent. Set up was quick and easy. The LG Web OS 3.0 is very good and much more intuitive than what is available from Sony or Samsung. The up convert software from LG does a great job with content produced from the mid-1980s up to now but not so much with earlier PBS shows from Great Britain produced in the early 80s and 70s (with only 240 lines of vertical resolution). The Tru Motion 240Hz frame rate does a great job of handling fast paced - very little judder.

I won't get into many details in this review as their are plenty of other websites out there that can give you a much more significant run down of the pros and cons of this TV. It is a beautiful TV when viewing non-HDR content - the 4k image is crisp and clear and overall very gorgeous. However, when it's time to utilize HDR, that's when this TV - with it's Edge Lit design - shows its flaws. The beauty of HDR is that you get a brighter image while retaining color clarity. When viewing HDR content on this TV, wherein you need to crank up your brightness, all I noticed were the numerous light sources bleeding in from the edge of the screen. When you're watching a TV show or playing a video game where the image takes up the whole screen, this is a less noticeable flaw. When you are watching a movie with the black bars across the top and bottom of the TV however, all you will notice is the light bleeding in from the edges. It is distracting and not something I was prepared to deal with long term, so I exchanged this TV for a Full-Array backlit TV from Sony and am much more pleased with the visuals that it is capable of producing.
