This TV is perfect for my needs. It might not be perfect for everyone but it is overall well rounded and has amazing specs/performance. Unboxing is simple. Open the top, take out the extras, lift the main part of the box off the bottom and the TV will be standing there in the bottom part of cardboard nicely padded with Styrofoam. The TV is heavier than I expected (granted it is 65”) but with the trend of TV’s being thinner and lighter I assumed it might be a little less heavy. A single person can lift it but I do recommend a two person carry to protect your back and the TV. Set up is a breeze, take out the stand, attach the other part of the stand to it and screw it into the TV. Initial TV power on walks you through the setup of channels and wifi. If you have used smart TV’s before you might be used to slow interfaces, this one uses WebOS with Android Assistant built in and I gotta say, it is so smooth of an interface you will be wowed. The gyro inside the controller allows you to point to specific parts of the screen to interact. I thought this would be more cumbersome then clicking left and right but it actually is quicker once you get the hang of it. It is equipped with Dolby Vision, I have used HDR tvs using HDR10 before but once you compare it to a Dolby Vision device… the first words are WOW. The colors pop so much more on supported content, and the brights will amazing you. I hooked it up to my Xbox One X and watched a few 4K Blu-rays, they looked amazing and I realized I had been missing out this whole time on many details. On the standard settings, you do not get much of the soap opera affect (smoothing) so kudos to LG for making that a non-issue. The TV supports Dolby Atmos which does not give you much benefit on the TV speakers or a plain old 5.1 system but it is nice to have support built in. Android Assistant felt half baked to me, it works but often times I would have to ask it a question multiple times. This did not seem like an issue with the microphone or volume but more with how it seems to hang for a second to thing then nothing happens. I feel this could be fixed in a future update but it was a slight issue for me upon review. There is a large catalog of apps you can download from the store and I do not think there was one I could not find that I looked for, all the major music and movie apps were there. If you decide to hang this on a wall it will work but just be sure you have a very good wall mount installation. As mentioned earlier, the TV is on the heavier side and if your mount is not properly anchored it might create issues. One thing I would like to see on this TV is a satellite input device. Some brands have it so a single connection goes to the TV and all the inputs for your other devices feed into a box at the other end of the cable, this is very convenient for a wall mount. This LG TV only takes inputs in the back of the TV so you will have to manage your cables wisely unless you have a receiver taking all your inputs. I give it a 5 out of 5 for quality, interface and performance. I give it a 3 out of 5 for design and engineering. Overall, this works out to a solid 4 out of 5 for me!

This TV is amazing! I love everything about it except the back lighting. I purchased this TV because I really wanted local dimming and I love LG TV's. When this option is turned to low, it's not that bad but it has terrible lag and the local dimming zones are way too big. If you are watching a very bright and colorful movie or show, this TV is about as perfect as you can get. The motion is amazing. Cartoons look insanely amazing. The only down fall is when you want to watch any movie with dark scenes... then it is annoying and unbearable... for me. My wife never noticed but her eye sight isnt the best either. I ended up returning this TV and purchased a 65" LG C8 OLED. The only thing the SK9000 has on the C8 is the motion handling and lower latency for video games. OMGoodness is it better with the SK9000. If you play a lot of video games and are not a huge movie buff, then the SK9000 will make you very very happy.

Overall I was pleased with the performance of this TV, even though I did end up returning it for a different (more expensive) model. The color are beautiful, the remote control is awesome, the TV handles motion very well 99% of the time (see below) and the menus are intuitive and easy to use. I also didn't detect any problems with the local dimming feature when turned to 'high', which some reviewers have complained about (it's possible that whatever problems they had with LD were fixed via firmware updates.) The two complaints I had were: 1. watching soccer with TruMotion turned on caused the ball to flicker, and 2. there was some noticeable color banding in some scenes where a large area of the screen displayed a solid color or a gradient. These are admittedly minor issues, and most people may not even notice them or care too much. I would rate the TV a 9/10 but since I cannot give it 4.5 stars I am rating it 4/5.

After using this TV for a little over a month, there isn't much that I can complain about. I initially thought that I wouldn't use the 'Smart' features, as all other Smart-TVs I've used are clunky and outdated. I was pleasantly surprised to find that WebOS (the interface on LGs) is quite intuitive and fluid! I've found myself utilizing it almost exclusively rather than any connected peripherals. The Dolby Vision and Atmos support are AMAZING. Though, I have found that if you aren't in a very dark room, the backlight will need to be increased, which does slightly wash-out the color depth of the picture. The Full Array Local dimming is very good - it's what allows blacks similar to OLED. That being said, on a mostly-black image, you will see some feathering between the area with the color, and the areas that are black. Particularly with HDR content. These tiny drawbacks aren't worth the extra $1k to get OLED - at least not to me. So if you're looking for near-OLED quality without the 'OLED'-tax, this is your go-to TV.

I bought this TV on sale and I really wanted to love it. It's a great size and the sound is really good. The picture was very nice and detailed and the viewing angles were also good. It was pretty bright too. I fed it 4K Dolby Vision HDR content from Netflix, the LG UBK90 and 4K Dolby Vision HDR content from Itunes. It did a great job with the stuff I watch like Scifi, anime, action and comedy shows. The colors were rich and I felt good about things. In a dark room is where the problems were for me. I had this in my bedroom. The blacks seemed like a very dark gray and there was some blooming too. I ended up returning it for those two reasons and I felt like if I was going to spend 2K on a TV then I better be extremely happy and not feel like I was settling. They have this tv and the LG OLED right next to each other on display and I could not get passed the picture difference. OLEDs as everyone should know are the best. You can't beat the deep inky blacks and all the other features. So I just upgraded from the LG SK9000 65" to the LG C8 OLED 65".

This TV is packed with many features with excellent picture quality. The only reason I give four out of five stars is because the native smart TV app is lacking key apps such as HBO, and most of the sports networks. I get around this by using my Apple TV (Which I prefer over natives interfaces) but if you are someone who is buying a smart TV and expect to not use a stand-alone smart box, I would not get this TV. When watching sports, I turn off the motion enhancer, as this feature seems to make a very fast motions very blotchy. Overall, I would deathly buy this TV again and would recommend it to anyone who wants a great TV

I think for the price i paid on sale it was a very good value, but at full price it would have me wanting to go for OLED technology and not have to see the blooming anymore. What it does well, very bright, great color, awesome detail, deep contrast, and amazing operating system and remote control! The bad is really just the local dimming, if you watch a movie in the dark it can be very obvious especially with subtitles or credits on screen. All in all i really do like this TV!

I replaced a Samsung with this LG and have been mostly happy I did. I began having very occasional pixilation and signal loss issues that started occurring immediately after the change. I had my cable provider out to the house twice to thwart off any cabling issues and it seems to persist, although less frequently. In fairness, my cable provider is adamant that it is not an issue with the TV but rather with their services. Seems more than coincidental to me, but it has not been such a big deal that I have taken it off my wall and returned it. When the picture is uninterrupted it is spectacular!

LG SK9000 Series : The picture quality is very good. I like all the features of the smart TV especially the remote control that can work as a pointer on screen. Very easy to set up and use out of the box. Only complaint is that some streaming apps (Amazon prime, Hulu, Vudu) lock up periodically. I also have a Roku and it's apps never lock up. LG sent me a checklist to ensure a good connection to my router. My router is <25 ft away and in direct sight of the TV. I've tried all of the usual items to ensure a good signal/connection including keeping the TV software and apps up to date but still have problems. I will use my Roku rather than the TV's apps.

Picture is great. Controls are OK once you get on to it. Sound is tinny and hollow. There is a shadow or echo sound in the background that sounds like someone else murmering while the main voice is talking. On the control screen, there is a place to change the sound from Standard to Voice, Sports, Music, games, Cinema. This was helpful for a while, then it became stuck on Standard and now it can't be changed. Consumer Reports had the sound rated in one of the excellent catagories. That was the main reason I picked this TV over the others. I will have still to buy a sound bar one day.

I like the look of the tv stand but miss the ability (of my old tv) to easily rotate/move the direction of the screen with the touch of a finger. The picture is clear and colors vibrant though extremely dark scenes are difficult to see on a bright day. I worried that the 65” tv would overpower the space but have really enjoyed watching it and the size feels perfect now. I do wish there was an IR option for the remote as I am unable to program my Harmony remote because of that and have to use multiple remotes to control all functions.

I purchased this tv looking for a 4K upgrade to use with my Microsoft Xbox One X. All in all this tv has a lot of features and options that should please almost every customers needs. This tv system can be very confusing and overwhelming at first due to all of the settings and options. But it does have it’s own manual and how to guide built in! With the HDR Game Mode option as well as the Audio Game mode option this tv unlocks all available options the Xbox one x has for 4K gaming!

So far I'm happy with the LG SK9000. I truly have only used it about 4 hours and I've had it for 3 weeks now so it's not like I'm that into tv. I'm doing this review because I'm getting Rewards points. I paid to have it delivered and set up and that went well. I have Comcast for my tv provider and also had a Roku set up with the delivery and so far it's going well. I have noticed that the corners of the screen are dark which I can live with and so far that's my only complaint.

Great TV but I have only had it for about a month..so we’ll see as time goes. Picture is great, love the smart remote as I already have an LG TV with a smart Remote. Simple to hook up. The smart remote has a Netflix and an Amazon button on it for easy access to unlimited movies as I have both services. I purchased because it has Dolby Atmos and I just purchased a Denon surround receiver with Atmos. Can’t wait to get the ceiling speakers hooked up! Great purchase!!

This tv has been good so far. Everything’s been easy to use. Remote connected to existing cable box with easy. Just had to take some time to learn how to tweak the setting. Picture is good and sound is good. Had to find the correct adjust for HD but it was easy. Thought about Samsung and Sony but decided on this model due to the base. Could have gone higher or lower in price but this was a great compromise. Some may not agree.

The picture is amazing. I upgraded a 10 yr old Digital LED 61 inch Samsung and the difference is tremendous. The only thing stopping me from giving this a 5 star review is that the LG Universal/Smart remote can only be programmed with one additional component. So I can have it control my directv receiver and my surround sound receiver at the same time. So I am basically stuck with a brand new $1200+ tv with a worthless remote.

The LG Sk9000 has two major issues: light bleeding (when watching in a dark room) and the dirty screen effect (when watching sports). It still deserves 4 stars. Picture quality is top notch and it has features like no other TV. It has a wide viewing angle and can handle any game smoothly. Way more pros than it’s two cons. I bought this tv at $1300. I wouldn’t recommend spending more than that.

This tv has a incredible picture and with a 4K DVD player with Dolby vision it’s as good as you can get without going to OLED. But we are having a problem with the sound. Every once and awhile we will turn the tv on, and no sound. Have to cycle the sound options to get sound out of the optical port to our sound bar. But overall a awesome tv.

So far so good. The apps are pretty great. I've stopped using my shield TV because the TV's apps are that good (no need to switch inputs). The interface can be frustrating when you set the picture type for all inputs but sometimes it doesn't take and you have to choose your color/tint/sharpness settings again (for that input) I use the standard setting for picture.

I have this TV in a darkened room. I end up selecting either the Sports or the Vivid display in order to have adequate color. I don't use the SMART features, but am using this basically as a monitor hooked to an Amazon cube and an Devon receiver. Jury is out on whether the extra money for this set, or a lower version of the same LG set would have been a better choice.
