Amazing picture & best choice for Xbox Series X!

Let me start by saying sometimes things can vary from panel to panel so some may have slightly better or worse luck than others when it comes to blooming, banding, grey uniformity, black uniformity, etc. Now with that out of the way I can say I absolutely love this TV. My main motivation was finding a TV with hdmi 2.1 inputs that could take full advantage of the Xbox Series X capabilities. This TV fits the bill. I looked at numerous reviews and really listen to the folks at Rtings but I think they missed the mark on this one. In real world use, the flaws they outline of this set are hardly going to be noticable. Where you may notice its' deficiencies is in application menus and on start up of some apps where some blooming is noticeable. Gaming is fantastic and as seen in the photo I posted, shows the game mode 120hz and freesync options on - all of which is automatic. The AI in the TV also works with other applications. For example when watching a movie on the Movies Anywhere app, it automatically changes the picture to Dolby Vision Cinema Home mode with HDR. Or when watching a TV show on Netflix it reverts back to Standard mode. I am one that usually messes with settings on a TV and I have not touched anything other than using Cinema mode instead of Cinema Home mode when watching movies. I also have a Samsung Q80R which received rave reviews and I can honestly say I think this LG matches the picture quality pound for pound, and blows the Samsung out of the water with its gaming features. I cannot recommend this enough.

Obsessed with my new LG Nanocell. For the size and quality of TV I definitely got my monies worth. Brightness and colour is great. Pairs with my Sonos ARC and HomeKit enabled so I can tell Siri to turn on the tv when I come home. I also have the Apple TV 4K which pairs with the picture quality of this tv perfectly. Not a huge fan of the DolbyVision as I feel it lessens the blue light and tones down the picture. Overall love it and living a techy dream with this TV.

Managed to snag this TV for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately because it was “Open-Box” it did not come with a remote or stand. However, in terms of picture, it is everything i was looking for in a 65in. TV. The refresh rate allows for awesome picture for sports. Mpvie watching contrast and colors ccould be better, but definitely an upgrade from my previous Hisense.

This is my 2nd nano. Bought the same model 2 years ago. These tv's don't disappoint. Bought the first one when the series x dropped and it handles everything the xbox puts out. Colors are great and is the sound. This one is for the bedroom. Perfect!

I cannot tell you the regret I have about not choosing the 65inch TCL TV. I went off the Specs and Name recognition but dang did I get fooled by the Floor Models. These Higher End LG TV's have a very disappointing interface with an AI that is irrelevant that cannot be disabled (Trust me I spent 47mins on the phone with LG Tech) Issues:
1. Trending Now, Weather, and the LG Store take up the top of the TV.
2. The App store is trash, with No option to Download, FOX, NBC, ESPN, VRV Apps, etc. Instead you are provided with thrid-party apps like Hack News. I had to add my FireStick just to have the Apps I want to use (See Photos)
3. LG Free Channels is just Pluto TV that you have to sign up with if you want to continue watching a program.
4. I have to use the Web OS to watch local news
5. All suggestions in the App point you to YouTube TV, Peacock, or Prime
My overall issue is the OS, it is not friendly. I enjoy a clean look where the Apps I use the most are right there when I turn on the TV. I don't need to know what is trending I can care less that the Temperature is outside, and I don't Shop on my TV.
Let this stink in right... I have to use a "Fire Stick" to Watch the Apps I use the most. Again I have to use a "Fire Stick" to watch TV on this LG TV.. let that sink in. If you are asking why I haven't returned it is because... and I am not lying..." My wife says it is a thinner TV so it flows better with the living room."
The picture and Sound are awesome but it is just too much work just to sit down and watch TV. It's your call if you want a Clean, Easy interface than TCL.

The television looked nice in store and I am sure it would have looked great in my home but the first delivery the screen was cracked so I had it picked up and another delivered only to take it out the box and the antenna fell off the back of the television so I had to return it and purchase another brand having to pay the price difference. The first box looked like it was already returned.

After trying a handful of TVs from Oled to the Qn90, to the U8G, then to the X90j, I surprisingly have settled on the LG.
This is probably a rare case as even for me this was my last resort.
Oled aside from the burn in risk needs to have the brightness maxed for a good HDR experience. Playing games I can’t help but live in fear of burn in between using subtitles often and every game has static elements. I don’t put hundreds of hours into games but should I find one I do, I don’t want to ruin a $1300+ Oled.
I tried the Samsung and it’s brightness is unparalleled however the high price and the way the dimming works on the Samsung, you need to leave the local dimming on low which nets you worse contrast to prevent the blowout of colors in dimly lit parts on the screen. For instance detailed parts of a game hud when it’s night time in a game lose all of its contrast due to dimming and it looks like crap. Gran Turismo in another case when you flip to your rear view causes the entire screen to dim briefly. It’s very annoying. Plus no Dolby vision on this at all. It’s color reproduction of reds is weird as in you need to dial it back it seems to make it not pop off of every object with the color.
The Hisense U8G was raved upon on YouTube and it’s picture quality tops the Samsung. It does dimming properly and is really excellent. BUT some of its built in apps don’t work right or some are not supported. I had crackling audio issues and playing Apple TV would cause a big pause every now and then in the shows so to avoid this you need an Apple TV or external device. Ghosting is also an issue if you use 60hz games on the TVs 120hz hdmi 2.1 ports. Somehow many reviewers skipped over this or tell you it’s not an issue and it really is I’ve used this first hand.
The Sony while I like their TVs didn’t give me a good experience. The 50” had issues displaying faces in dark rooms in a show where the dimming caused the contrast to blow out. I tried a 65” and multiple clusters of dead pixels or dirt under the screen, the panel was terrible and at $1500 there’s absolutely no excuse. I would have expected that kind of low quality or QC from TCL but not Sony. Sony also has ongoing promises of adding gaming features and they failed to keep them on the 900h (previous model) that I own since it was past the return date when I found out it doesn’t correctly support 120hz 4k gaming.
So after a lot of talking with Best Buy sales and reviewing the situation, instead of chancing another Sony QC nightmare and unmounting a 65” again, I decided to try this years Nanocell.
First things first with this TV.
The LG has an IPS panel which means decent viewing angles but has the following issues:
Higher likelihood of blooming.
Large dimming zones (32 I believe) which in more cases than not can become noticeable.
Much lower contrast (greyer blacks in dark scenes).
I have also used the precious years Nano90 and returned it for how noticeable the zones are and the contrast just being bad.
With that said and all of those trade offs noted, I ended up with an exceptional panel on my Nano90 65”.
The native contrast without dimming is definitely better than it’s previous years.
Panel uniformity is excellent.
I reference a lot of tests from Rtings and they must have gotten a terrible panel. Mine truly looks excellent.
I typically game and watch movies in a darker room. The local Dimming can be a problem as some spots get over brighter for instance a swinging forearm in a darker hall way looks like they were swinging a flashlight. It’s really bad in some cases. BUT the native contrast is relatively close to the contrast you get without local dimming turned on. I turned off dimming and turned on Auto Contrast to High. It balances the picture out to where it brightens the highlights and darkens darker colored objects respectively without crushing the details. Netting you a very excellent picture without the need for local dimming and it’s distracting pitfalls.
Brightness on this is much improved over the last years model as well so HDR is much better. It’s not blindingly bright but it pops.
Another plus for LG is they have done very well including all of the gaming features for next gen consoles and it all actually works. It has VRR, Freesync Premium, 4k@120hz and I’m hoping this model gets 120hz Dolby Vision (lg is working on this still for later this year, it’s doing this for the top Oled models first).
The build quality for this TV is also top notch. It’s better than last years as well. It is basically a full metal body this time around. Heavy but solid. Thankfully I had no dead pixels and performance has been excellent.
If you are looking for a decent priced tv (on sale) that’s a 65” this TV is not as bad as other sites or reviewers make it out to be. Especially if the QC is lacking in even other top tier brands. If you’re a gamer the Lg will offer the best coverage as far as working features and inputs go. I think there are 2 inputs in the nano 90 vs 4 on the C1 Oled.
I would say this TV may not be for the type of viewer than wants to plug the TV in, in a dark room and use the default settings. The local dimming isn’t so much an issue in right rooms but you really need to tinker with the settings mentioned if this is going to be your basement movie TV. You will notice the dimming issues relatively quickly. Turning dimming off and using auto contrast resolves this very well. As far as bright room performance it greatly reduces the likelihood of noticing issues. It’s viewing angle is very good side to side, colors shift more moving up and down.
I hope that all helps and good luck!

I was hopeful about this tv when I bought it, but about two hours into owning it it got the flashlight effect. It was shooting blue red and white light along the sides of the tv. It was supposed to full array and not be prone to that issue. Unfortunately, this is all to common with lg TVs. I returned it and got a cx Oled.

Nice step up from our 1080p Vizio with "full array backlighting" from ~10 years ago. It was all plastic-y and felt cheap. Its picture was decent at its time but suffered pretty bad with bloom. It had decent speakers even back then. Its smart features died when they stopped using Yahoo widgets (true story) so we had to use an external device to stream.
Pros:
The LG feels much more premium than our old Vizio. All metal from what I can tell and feels very sturdy. I love the magic remote and its native smart apps work very well. I am a computer guy so my standards for that stuff are pretty high and I have no complaints. The picture is wonderful ... as expected. I have been impressed with its colors, its brightness, reflections, and its bloom is very limited. Yes it is there, yes it is noticeable, but barely. I have not seen the "dirty screen" that rtings shown in their testing. It is a panel lottery and the main reason I bought it locally instead of online ... just in case I wanted to return it.
There are plenty of features and "AI" stuff that I am still debating if I like or not. One feature I have not seen mentioned anywhere is that it can use the remote's microphone to do audio room correction. Speaking of audio ... IMHO it is pretty darn good for a TV. The frequency range is a notch below the top tier according to Rtings and its audio channel separation was better than our old LG soundbar (the bars frequency range was a bit better, however). The audio has some good low-frequency range and does produce a noticeable amount of bass. No it won't replace a dedicated subwoofer ... its more in line with what a "decent" pair of bookshelf speakers could produce ... buts its still impressive.
Other pros include all of the menu items you can tinker with. This is a tinker lovers TV. There are plenty of features that I do not see mentioned in descriptions or specifications. Look at the manual if you want to see what it really has to offer.
Cons:
Honestly, the only negative is the TV audio distorts at a lower than ideal level. Keep in mind this typically only happens when watching movies and Mandolorian\Witcher\WestWorld type shows. We have not really noticed it in other streamed "TV" shows (drama/documentaries). I used the equalizer to remove as much distortion as I can but at some point, it just is not worth losing the audio quality over. Rtings was right on this one but their rating looks worse because this TV has one of the loudest volumes and their volume tests will show higher distortion. Plus, to my knowledge, they do not equalize any frequencies so I question their validity here some.
In short, yes the audio is not "great" but IMHO it is good enough for most medium-sized rooms and for most people. I personally think a lot will be satisfied and not need a soundbar. I plan to experiment with a Bluetooth subwoofer (since the tv will do both tv speakers and Bluetooth at the same time) but will eventually get an Atmos soundbar.
Conclusion: I 100% recommend this TV. Depending on room size and your audio standards ... you may need a soundbar. This is a "tinkers" TV with many many many options. You will need to tweak the audio and screen settings out-of-the-box. But this TV also has many features that other brands are still struggling to roll out.
If you do not want to fiddle with settings ... honestly just buy a Sony TV - they have the best out-of-box experiences period.

I got a real good deal on this at Best Buy. I put the TV up myself, but I would recommend you have another person. The picture on this is a lot better than my old 4K TV. The HDR comes through really nicely providing vivid light effects which really make the shows pop. Comes on quickly, and the menus are pretty snappy. No real detectable lag when you’re navigating. I tried out the TV speaker and it’s definitely better than what I’m used to getting from a TV though I’m using a Atmos surround system I was just curious how it sounded. The only downside that I can find with the TV is it doesn’t have as many dimming zones as a lot of the newer TVs. Most of the time you don’t even notice but sometimes when the screen is black and there’s just one thing like a logo or something lit up you can see the bleed out around it. Overall though it seems to do a really good job of dealing with the lighting.
