It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to flat panel TVs. I am always looking for the absolute best, even if I have to pay more for it when compared to what else is on the market. Case in point, I bought a $6k Pioneer Elite Kuro plasma, eventually adding a really nice HD Samsung plasma as a second display (just before every manufacturer bailed on plasma technology.) After seeing the difference between pixels that create their own light source vs ones that must be backlit, I've always felt that an OLED based TV would be in my future.
Fast forward to January when I decided to give my two working plasmas to my son (who was moving out). I began looking at the various LCDs on the market and compared them to the LG OLEDs. For me, it was an easy decision. I immediately selected a new 2018 LG B8 series OLED that Best Buy was offering at Black Friday pricing. I am so happy I did.
I always felt that the picture I could achieve on either my Samsung or my Pioneer panel was incredible, but neither of them were UHD capable. Every time I saw one of the OLEDs at Best Buy I'd end up being drawn to the clarity, color and contrast inherent in the technology. I was hooked.
So this OLED panel is the first actual UHD TV I've owned (full disclosure... I also upgraded my AVR and my blu-ray player to get every feature available for this TV, including Dolby Vision and full high speed HDMI switching for my other sources.) I have to say that as state of the art as those plasmas were, this LG just makes them look bad in comparison. The ability to get to absolute black blows away any contrast advantage that other panels offer with respect to maximum brightness. There is plenty of brightness here to allow HDR sources to shine. It may take some tweaking to get everything right, but when you do this panel can rival any Plasma for contrast, color purity, off access integrity and ease of use.
My new Panasonic UHD player mates perfectly with this unit as it can upscale everything to 4k and tweak HDR parameters. So all of my standard blu-rays look almost as good as my UHD discs. Streaming on line sources mastered in Dolby Vision look fabulous as well.
It's now been about a month since my purchase and I have found no weaknesses at all with this TV. I would highly recommend it to anyone who, like me, wants what is arguably one of the absolute best television panels available today. It may cost a little more than other panels, but I learned a long time ago that you get what you pay for. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Ok... After having a 65” Vizio M Series for about a year I wanted an upgrade in 4K TVs so I bought the 65” Sony 950G (which is the same tv as the 900F so don’t waste your money on buying the 950G just because it’s got a 2019 sticker on it, save money and get the 900F - check out the specs on both TVs). I had it hanging in the wall for a couple of weeks and just wasn’t liking the picture so I took it back to Best Buy and was going to get a Samsung Q80 until I saw the LG OLED B8. I ended up buying the LG because of the OLED screen and the picture at the store was incredible! I’ve had it for over a week now and I’m in love with it!!! It’s the most amazing tv I’ve ever seen, and I’ve researched a ton of these TVs. Spectacular picture and movement and LG has the built in sound bar so you get a pretty good sound, though I’ve always encouraged everyone that wants performance to get a sound bar or surround sound system. Beautiful clarity and has the blackest of black. I’ve read it performs better in a dark room but I have a halfway sunny living room and this tv gets plenty bright enough. Only drawbacks, which aren’t anything really, are that one. doesn’t have the HDMI 2.1 input for whenever they come out with something to use it for so, no biggie, and two. the B8 has the A7 processor and the C8 has an A9 processor but I’ve stood and watched both of the TVs side by side and you can’t tell any difference in the performance of the tv. The picture on the B8 was every bit just as amazing as the C8, so don’t waste your money getting the C8, unless the (not even being used yet) HDMI 2.1 and the A9 processor over the A7 (same performance as the A9 processor) are that important to you. The LG B8 is worth every penny spent and I’ve yet to see a better picture on any other tv. RTNGS.com named it Best TV in 2019

The LG OLED picture is far and away more amazing than any other screen I've laid eyes on. It's far more than a 4K TV. The OLED's deepest black contrast is so noticeable compared to other screens it's almost a distraction, a welcome one. The motion rendering is incredible, this TV is truly a joy to watch. The only downfall I think it has is the webOS operating system in regard to app availability. It's clunky and severely lacking but it's by no means a reason to not buy it. BUY IT. I did find I had to upgrade my dish satellite equipment to the hopper, my receiver and my blu ray in order to play nice with the ARC HDMI but that is not an LG thing, that's an inferior ARC HDMI thing and will be an issue with potentially any brand until eARC is released. All things attached must be ARC compliant if you want to enable it or you may have weird "bugs" like your receiver constantly defaulting to your blu ray or the TV not syncing to the the proper receiver audio input when switching from streaming back to satellite.

I went into best buy convinced I was going home with the Samsung 65 QLED Q8F. WHen I got there, the salesman showed me the difference on the LG B8, with the richness in color, the specs, the ease of internet, etc, and after some thinking, I decided to go for it. All the way home I wondered if I made the right choice, but upon getting it home, super easy install, and playing around with it and viewing many movies/sports, I am glad I made the choice. SUper rich details, great blacks, great voice feature on remote, so so far I feel I made the right choice with this TV. I hope I continue to be happy for years, but this so far is a brilliant TV.

Love the picture. The view from an off angle and the picture in the dark is awesome. The hand held remote system to manage all the inputs is truly amazing. Very easy to learn and operate. The only issue is the sound/picture sync. My external sound system runs just a little late compared to the picture. No ability to delay the picture so the sound is in sync. The sync is just a little off, so we live with it - but it is frustrating. Search "LG B8 Lip Sync" to get details.

I own two of these, one in my bedroom and one in my livingroom. The picture quality is the best out there bar none! No backlight tv can come close to the contrast and perfect blacks this tv displays. My first one I've had for a year and no burn in issues or any issues at all. Would 10/10 recommend!

Have bad retinas that are severely affected by blue light from screens that use LED light. This television has OLED technology where the pixels adjust to light individually collectively that allows me to sit in a room with it for a movie or other times of day and have NO eye problems even with the 65" screen. I hope it doesn't develop burn-in like it has for others but I have the manufacture's and then also the Best Buy warranty so am not afraid. Can finally enjoy movies and the news to monitor emergencies in the tornado weather and earthquakes in my home state. Love the perfect colors and ease of use as well as the ease of using it. The Home Theater people at Best Buy helped me choose the right TV for my eye problem. Very good experience and they are available to me in the future.

I originally got a 75 inch Samsung QLED tv, but for some reason, that screen kept disconnecting the video signal from my computer at random intervals and would not work at all outside of Windows, so I traded that in for this 65 inch LG OLED and I am so glad that I did. OLED gives a MUCH better picture quality than QLED with higher contrast and color. No problem with it working on my computers and the BIOS screen never looked so good because that's where you really see the pure blacks. Watching 4k content (The Expanse on Amazon) was a pure joy and would highly recommend it. This tv was also $400 cheaper than I expected when I picked it up and trading in the other 75 inch was no problem at all, so I am very happy with both Best Buy and LG on this purchase.

Let me start by saying I have never owned a TV that it this good. I needed to replace a 55” TV with standard HD. So when I started looking, I decided to not only go bigger but to go with 4K and HDR since more and more programming is becoming available. I looked at all the brands and it came down to Sony and the LG. Picture quality and features were similar but the price is what clinched the deal. I would recommend this TV to anyone wanting a quality OLED 4K.

First OLED TV I've gotten. Came from a high end Samsung QLED Knew of all the up side OLED, but once you see it, it's a totally different world. This is the best technology that currently exists and it is relevant for new and old material. The line of contrast between light and dark colors is incomparable. You've literally never seen anything like it before. It almost seems weird as first. No black banding in dark scenes. GoT Battle of Winterfell, looks beautiful. So many people complained of how dark it was and banding issues. No issues on the OLED. Beautiful and unmatched.

As someone who works in the Cinematography business, watching netflix programming in 4k HDR is stunning even to me. The colors and contrast are second to none. LG has a great interface (webOS) that you would try out before buying just to see how easy it is to use. With a proper receiver, you can run everything through the TV and control the receiver through HDMI meaning you can get away with only one remote, which was my ideal setup. My only grips are 1) No HBO app on WebOS, gotta still use the chromecast or game system for this. 2) HDMI ports are only HDMI 2.0 and not the new 2.2 standard, meaning no Earc support (only regular arc), which means Dolby atmos won't pass through and neither will the Nintendo switch surround as it's uncompressed 5.1. If you really need atmos support for the In-tv apps and passthrough for games (or 4K HDR @ 60fps), I would suggest waiting until next year. Otherwise, full 4K dolby vision support is amazing and I would definitely recommend to anyone that prioritizes image quality.

This TV replaced a 13 year-old 42" plasma TV. The configuration of our family room is such that often someone is viewing from an angle, and the unlimited viewing angle of an OLED is a real plus. Picture quality is great, and robust features, easy to use. Sound is good - better than I expected. Was going to purchase the 55", but my children convinced me to go with the larger screen size and glad that I did. Movies and sports much more enjoyable with the larger screen.

I upgraded from an older Samsung 1080p LED with all the bells and whistles of its time. I found this tv on sale during the super bowl and got a great deal. The picture quality is amazing. The contrast is unreal due to the extremely black pixels from the OLED technology. When the screen goes black in a dark room, the tv disappears into the wall because there is no dull gray color from a full backlit display. I would recommend.

As good as my Plasma

I got this TV three weeks ago to replace a 2009 top-of-the-line Panasonic Plasma. So all comparisons are with the previous 1080P set.
I saw a demo unit at our local Best Buy store where it was connected to a continuous feed of 4K material. So my main concern was: How would it look if my primary content source is a 1080P cable box? My previous experience with 4K TV was at restaurants where they host Samsung and LG 4K. The pictures I saw were never as good as my Panasonic plasma. My main concern was that the pictures looked soft. The Best Buy associate assured me that restaurants generally buy lower priced TVs build with lesser quality 4K upscalers and LG OLEDs are superior. I took his words and pulled the trigger. I then connected the TV to an Onkyo TX-NR585 4K receiver.
The Best Buy Associate was right, LG OLEDs do have excellent upsacalers for regular HD content. I would recommend this to anyone considering OLEDs. With the TV set to expert mode, here is my experience with of all the video contents that have been tried:
1. HD Cable (Comcast) content shot with video cameras (e.g. Football games, reality shows.) are as sharp as my 1080P plasma. You will not notice much difference. At the Best Buy store, you can use the Youtube app and bring up a sports event (e.g. Super Bowl highlights) and get a feel of what cable programming looks like.
2. HD Cable content shot on film (e.g. prime-time TV drama) are also as good as the plasma. I have to assume that the networks have optimized the video when converting to 1080I so the TV does not have to work very hard to upscale to 4K.
3. Blu-Ray disks (24P) vary from disk to disk. Most are as good as my plasma. One showed less smoothness when the camera panned across the scene.
4. 4K content. The only 4K content I tried is with the built-in Youtube app. I connected the TV back to the receiver with an optical audio cable so I can use the receiver’s HDMI ARC feature. 4K video is a little better than 1080P when viewing from about 9 feet away. However, the sound quantity from 4K content totally blew me away. It was way better than regular HDMI. I would recommend anyone with a sound system to switch to digital audio cable.
5. TV’s built in Speakers are not very impressive. They are better than most flat screens, but cannot compete with a true sound system.
Overall I was very happy with this purchase.

Top of the line.
Picture quality, ease of use , smart controller and all other smart functions without any issues. I think the sound on this TV is excellent, volume i think goes up to 40 ? i rarely go over 10.
Its extremely thin and sleek but deceptively heavy. Don't try to move it yourself.
TV has a screen saver to save you from burn in , i highly recommend you keep it on.
I have one issue with the tv and only one. I dont have cable and only use the smart functions for streaming so every time i turn the tv on , it goes to a channel ( which i dont have ) and its static so i have to mute that god awful sound until i get into netflix or prime video. Maybe im just dumb and don't know how to fix it but i wish i didnt have to at all considering how much i paid for it.
Nevertheless , TV still gets 5 stars. Considering getting another 75 inch for the other room.

I’ve had this new LG OLED 65” TV for over a month now and I am very pleased. A little background on my TV experience. I have purchased 4 top of the line Panasonic plasma TV’s in the past. I’ve been buying plasma TV’s since the early 2000’s and I was waiting for OLED TV’s to become affordable enough to jump into 4K.
The picture quality is excellent and the blacks are true black. Just as I have with my plasma TV’s. It was easy to hang on the wall because it weighs half of my Panny plasma. I customized my picture to my personal preferences and after a week, it is where I wanted it to be.
I love that all I have to do is hit a button and start Netflix or Amazon Prime and that these services now offer a good amount of content in 4K. If you’re in the market for a great 4K TV, go with the LG brand. If you’re looking for the best bang for the buck, go for the b8. The 2019 model doesn’t offer enough advancement to pay the cost differential.

So I don’t know how to describe the technical effects of the TV (look on almost any other review for that). I’m just going to tell you the simple man’s version:
The TV is easily the best on the market right now (without buying the ones that are priced higher than $3k). Compared to the Samsung QLED and Sony Bravia, this wind hands down.
That being said, at first I was a little disappointed... I thought I owned SOME 4K digital content, and turns out I didn’t. So be prepared to dish out some more $$$ to see this thing the way it’s meant to be viewed. Upon seeing it, however... breathtaking is the only way to describe it. And truthfully, I haven’t even seen it in 4K disc mode yet (just digital 4K), and it’s hard to imagine it looking better than it already does.
It makes regular HD shows look outstanding - there is hardly any 4K TV content except drom Amazon and Netflix (and both companies offerings suck, IMO) but it’s still awesome to watch football in HD on this thing.
I know the price point isn’t for everybody, and i personally waited 2 years for this to get perfected (it has been), but if you can justify the spend and know this TV should last you almost 10 years if handled properly, then I couldn’t recommend it enough.
