Very impressive blacks and contrast. A little too dark for my taste though. I have a bright room, so the peak brightness wasn't impressive, even for one of the cheapest OLED's price wise currently. I've had bad customer service from LG in the past, and switched to Samsung since then. I've been happy with them ever since. I felt like I had to experience OLED in person at least once to see how I would like it. I noticed pretty bad image retention just by watching a movie, and playing a few games within the first six hours... I know it's a panel lottery, but for the price... I don't want to take that chance. I think a Qled is more suited for my needs with bright vivid images, and not having to worry about burn in with heavy gaming. I think I'll try another OLED in the future when they have more of a guarantee (and they've come a long way since 2016 models) , but it's not quite there yet. I think even micro led will be even more amazing ,and read about a potential QD- OLED from Samsung in the future.

I always wanted to get an OLED TV and i've know that LG are the most affordable ones. I knew that OLED are the top of the line but i didnt know how great they are to own. Every single content I view on this TV is a pleasure. The colors are vivid and the resolution is amazing. I have a first generation Sony 4k TV before HDR started to come out and when i look at a show or movie on it i see how much better this OLED really is. I also had no idea how much i really needed DOLBY Vision. The TV picks it up automatically from Netflix and any HDR shows on Amazon Prime. I am so happy with this tv.

The LG OLED tv has turned out to be every bit as good as the reviews say it is: outstanding color, depth, and contrast across a wide viewing angle. Out of the box, the contrast and saturation is too much, but a little tweaking of the settings has made it more natural and still stunningly clear and vivid. (This has to be done separately for HDR and photo, as well, but that's a minor inconvenience.) Excellent upsampling of existing bluray discs almost makes 4K unnecessary, and even regular DVDs look excellent at any reasonable distance from the screen. Looked at several and actually tried another top-line tv, and couldn't be more pleased that we made the extra investment to go with the very best.

I've been wanting an OLED for years and the prices finally dropped enough for me to take the plunge. The picture will not disappoint. Also, I've had no problems with burn in which I've heard some people have experienced. 4K HDR content is worth it!

I have been following OLED technology ever since it came out and LG is the undisputed King of OLED TVs. The B series from LG is the best picture and value you will find in the 65" OLED TV world. The set up was quick and easy. I had it up and running in less than 20 minutes.
The watching experience is incredible. The blacks are black and the colors are vibrant. Watching dark scenes this TV really shows it's perfect colors. I also like the remote with a pointer function. It is easy to navigate and intuitive all within a small package. It paired perfectly with my sound system through the HDMI ARC port. I also really like the Channel + feature that brings all of my favorite internet channels to an easy to navigate "Guide".
Bottom line is this TV will be the best you have ever owned. Well worth the premium over the LED competitors.

The OLED technology is awesome. The colors are rich and you won't find deeper blacks! Easy to use features with lots of apps already available for use. Google assistant is pretty useful, but wish Alexa was built in by default!

Love the picture. The color is vibrant and blacks are deep. It’s simple to use, but I would prefer a Roku or FireTV experience over LG’s platform. It’s fine compared to the other big name TV’s though.

Wow, where do I start?
I shopped for a new TV, and my finalists were Sony and a Samsung TV.
I had apprehensions on the Sony TV because of my previous recent experience with a Sony BlueRay Player. The software does not perform very well.
Then I read the reviews, and most of the reviews on the Sony and Samsung models I was considering were not very flattering; with this hesitation, I went to Best Buy.
I spoke to a rep there, and I told him what I was after and voiced my reservations with Sony and Samsung, due to the reviews I had read. The rep listened carefully (unusual for a young fellow), and without criticizing anyone, pointed to the LG OLED TV.
He explained the features and showed me comparing all three brands.
The LG OLED TV was a clear winner, although it lacked the Bluetooth feature that the Sony had, and which I wanted. However, everything anything else made LG a clear winner.
Since I had no experience with the LG software, I inquired about it, and the young sales rep at Best Buy carefully explained every feature.
I purchased the LG TV; the GEEK Squad did a great job installing it at my home and in using it, I have to say, this is a GREAT TV.
The resolution, clarity, color depth, and every visual detail to my tired eyes are amazing. I was using a Panasonic Plasma TV that weighs a ton, but it has worked well for YEARS and has great video; but not anything close to the LG TV I just purchased.
WOW!
The software operates flawlessly, it even updates in the background while you are watching your favorite show, it has NETFLIX, and Amazon Prime built right in, and it goes from OFF to INSTANT on, right on to NETFLIX with previews of the shows listed.
WOW!
The sound is outstanding, the TV is fast, and has many features I have yet to try or discover.
I am delighted with this purchase, and I would recommend LG to anyone looking for a great TV, and of course Best Buy and the Geek Squad, for suggesting a great TV. The Geek Squad for being ON TIME, when they said they were going to be, and for doing a quick and excellent job installing my TV.
What a great experience!
LG/Best Buy, YES!
Thank you,
{Diablo}

Was debating between this and the C8 and am so glad I saved the extra $500-600 and went with the B8. Picture quality is the EXACT same. Only difference is the slower WebOS interface, which is still super smooth. It runs maybe a few seconds slower. Overall, OLED is definitely the way to go. Perfect black levels, better contrast and a more accurate picture.

I've been wanting to pick up an OLED screen for a while, especially after my last LED suffered from severe ghosting, and dynamic contrast was so inconsistent as to be more distracting than enjoyable.
This is my 3rd 4K screen and probably my 5th LG, and it is night and day the best picture and TV I've owned. Colors really pop, including gaming (tested Switch, PS4 and XBox One X), over the air, and Video Services.
The most immediate thing that I've noticed from just about any TV in normal lighting is how you can see some leaking light (at least a little) around an LED or QLED picture. Quite simply, (Q)LED needs a backlight, which is provided in one of many zones. The screen will have to turn on zones around the text (it can't get any smaller than the size of the zone) to some degree, so you will see it in a dark room. Not so with the OLED. It's really night and day (pun intended) over and above what you can get on an LED.
The LG Remote is easy to pickup and figure out, but there are quriks (as there are with any remote, honestly). The TV is extremely responsive, and I was able to map it to my cable box in a few minutes.
The biggest drawback that I've seen so far is that the remote has eschewed a Menu button for it's internal channel guide (the menu button maps well with the menu button on a Comcast X). The channel guide does a good job of remembering the last channel you were on in Live TV mode, but not when connecting to the set top box. It's really a minor quibble, as the family is moving away from broadcast TV anyways.
Another quibble is that I'm not a fan of Clear Motion in any form, and it seems to be the default that the TV companies like to put out these days. It's just fake when presenting most movies, you can turn it on when you need it (or keep it on in certain video modes, if that's your thing). Having to remove it when playing around with different picture modes is obnoxious. Keep in mind that it's because I don't like it, it's totally personal, and YMMV.
Note that the B8 series is the late 2017-early 2018 model (I got it for $1900 when LG had a big price discount earlier this summer). The OS update adds a lot of features that let you minimize the chance of experiencing burn in. I'd definitely recommend taking some time with any new TV learning how to customize the picture for the individual set. It will make all the difference based on what you watch.

I have been looking at OLED for a couple of years as an option to replace my Pioneer plasma, which still has a better picture than most LCD/LED TV's. OLED, and specifically the B8, has the black levels & contrast ratio, while doing 4K and HDR, that finally compelled me to make the switch. I am glad I did! The entire family is impressed with the picture. If you are interested in seeing movies as they were intended to be seen, and watching sports in incredible detail and contrast, then an LG OLED is the set for you! If you can find these on closeout, there is not much, if any, difference between the B8 and the 2019 B9 in terms of picture quality.

I bought a 65 inch Samsung KS8000 4K HDR tv less than 3 years ago and was overall very happy with it. It had some dirty screen effect and some minor light bleed, but overall had a great picture and was awesome for games. A few weeks back while on a work trip, my wife texted me that 4 black spots had appeared on the screen. It had somehow developed 4 pinkie tip sized splotches of dead pixels. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I had purchased direct from Samsung and forgone the extended warranty. I was unable to live with the black splotches and went out to look for a replacement. I decided I wanted to buy from a local store and ended up at best buy where they've always treated me very well. I'd known that OLED TVs provided a better overall picture but previously wasn't willing to shell out what at the time was close to twice ad much money for one. Also I did have some concerns about the potential for burn in. This time around, the sale price was almost the same for the 65 inch OLED LG B8 as for the competitors LCD models, and in some cases cheaper. I decided to take go OLED this time, and it's so much better that it almost makes having to buy another expensive tv years sooner than I wanted to worth it. I was able to compare the old and new TVs side by side and there really is a massive difference in picture quality. Blacks are perfect, and colors are very deep and realistic. Everything just really looks more rich and real. And Dolby Vision on Netflix is as good a picture as I've ever seen. It really is fantastic.
I went ahead and bought the Geek Sqaud protection as I didn't want a repeat of the last go round, and the extra nice thing is that the it covers burn in.
Very happy with my new OLED TV, even if the upgrade came sooner than expected, and the local best buy was great to work with once again.

I love my new tv, it was a bit pricey but totally worth it. Very deep darks and beautiful colors. The magic remote is fun to use and the menu is streamlined. I do have a couple of gripes with it still, and it may seem like nitpicking but nevertheless these are things that bother me. First is a pro and a con, the tv is paper thin and mainly glass but when I reach around to add or remove cables the bezzle seems to scratch my arm. Second is the fact that I dont have cable.... for some reason the tv always starts up on channel search and is blaring static, this may be fixed once I hook up an hdmi device but still, it's a little annoying if you dont. Third is very very subjective but the LG store does not have crunchyroll and I love my anime. Even still screen mirroring to this TV is streamlined with no lag and full quality from phone to tv.
Overall I am extremely satisfied there is a huge difference between this and my sony bravia when it comes to the menu and functions.

We purchased the 65" version of this television. Very easy set up straight out of the box, lightweight and the remote is fantastic. This tv has the sharpest and clearest picture! One of the sales pushes on the tv is the black- no light bleed through and the colors are so vivid. The downfall was that when watching a show that takes place at night and the character has black hair, you can lose the contrast somewhat. Still a beautiful picture!

I was a devoted Samsung product guy. Led Tvs, blueray players and cellphones. I loved the bright vivid colors of the Samsung TVs and the overall performance. A good friend of mine purchased an LG OLED and i went with his recommendation. I am really glad I did because the picture on the OLED B8 is amazing! The dark sceens are amazing as well. The colors are very vivid and crystal clear. The speakers on the TV are very adequate, especially in my livingroom with 9ft ceilings. Exceeded my expectations! My hats off to LG!

Picture Settings Won't Hold
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This is our 3rd LG OLED and, more than likely, our last. The first one simply died in its 14th month and had to be replaced; the 2nd has a bunch of dead pixels and will be replaced; the 3rd one -- which is our home theatre TV -- has an odd, but unacceptable, problem: The picture settings will not hold. They change as much as 20 points or more in either direction and have to be continually reset -- mostly brightness, contrast, and saturation levels for the most part. Geek Squad replaced the main logic board with no improvement. It's very disappointing. The picture was great the first couple of months, then one evening the contrast and saturation levels changed dramatically like someone turned a switch on or off. Since then, the set has not been able to hold settings. Sometimes you can see the picture quality change from very bright and washed out to okay in the space of a couple of minutes. Sometimes it just remains washed out. The problem is documented online, but the online suggestions either do not work or are unacceptable (such as turning OLED backlight down to 35 or below (very unacceptable), or, turning CONTRAST down to 80 or below (not too bad, but did not work to resolve issue). Online discussions claim problem is due to a part called Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL), which was developed supposedly to help prevent burn-in issues, and cannot be disabled. Thus far, there are no software updates to resolve issue. It seems that either the picture remains great or it won't; it's risky. In either case, we are now zero for three. I'd suggest you not purchase this set for at least several months or until problem is recognized by LG and resolved. I will call Geek Squad again for another service call and will ask Geek Squad to contact LG engineers for advice. Will follow up with another review if there is anything to add. Sorry about this, LG. When it worked, the picture was great, but not any more some of the time. Am very tired of having to reset picture settings on an almost daily basis. If someone from LG could contact us, that would be appreciated. We would like to have the issue resolved so that we may enjoy the set. See attached screen grab from a discussion thread regarding a similar problem. There are other discussion threads online, as this appears to be a documented issue.

Researched OLED vs. QLED TVs before doing this purchase, for weeks. Every time I compared TVs a BB's demo floor, this was the model that always seemed to have the best picture. (There is a newer model, C9, I believe, but I could not distinguish any difference compared to the B8.) I was more expensive, though, than QLEDs.
I am giving it 4 stars because: 1) it has the potential to have a burn image, so it adds a little concern for its reliability over time, and 2) I really wanted the 77" version, but it was $4k more, so no thanks, pass!!
Really recommended for people willing to pay extra for the close to best picture, are careful on how to avoid burn image, and will utilize it in a not too bright environment.
As PROs, I will quickly list its magnificent streaming options (no ROKU needed!), its large viewing angle, and how thin and light it is.

I have a qled and this. I prefer this oled for most things, but also enjoy my qled. Where the oled stands out the most is it's obvious pro. The perfect blacks. Horror movies and sci fi movies shine on this TV. Dolby vision and hdr also look great. Only weakness, but not as bad as people say it is. The peak brightness. Some say watching an oled in a bright room is difficult. I'll tell you from experience that its only been an issue once or twice. Not everytime I watch in the daytime. Definitely worth the money.
