I had C8, so I decided to upgrade. Glad I did. This TV is great in almost everything. The only thing I wish LG would change is the home screen and advertisment.

I received this TV and immediately found the screen to not be flat. There were undulations along both sides vertically and when the glare caught it, it was very distracting. The picture quality is great except for the fact that this flat screen isn't flat! for this much money, I would expect better QC. Pretty much a disappointment. I had BestBuy come out and replace only to find the same issues on the second set

I’ve been through 3 of these TVs and there are indentations/undulations in the screen around the edges. Has nothing to do with the picture quality, which is amazing, but if this TV is going in a room with any window, I would not recommend due to these discrepancies in the screen which are quite visible and cause distortions. Bestbuy has been great throughout this process and LG has been awful. They don’t want to acknowledge a manufacturing defect with the new evo screen. Switching to a Sony. Also see other reviewer with same problem. Some people may be able to overlook this problem, but for $4500 I expect better.

Purchased this LG OLED 77" G1 model and within two months it developed a thin white vertical line down the middle of the screen. Instead of replacing the unit under warranty, LG sent a repair contractor to my home to replace just the screen. Per LG policy, the repair contractor refused to re-hang the TV on my wall mount when repairs were completed, so they left it on the floor leaning up against a piece of furniture. Later that evening, after my son-in-law helped me re-hang the TV without incident, we noticed the screen was cracked and the TV would not power on. The repair contractor claimed I damaged the unit, which I did not. LG has taken the contractor's word over mine and has refused any additional warranty coverage or support. So as a result of LG's manufacturing defect, I now own a $3,000 piece of LG art hanging on my wall. Although this is a beautiful TV, LG's warranty policy and total disregard for its customers makes the Samsung OLED a much better option.

I've had my eye on the 77" Gallery OLED from LG for more than a year, and hoped that prices might drop a bit from the original list price. Once Best Buy put them on sale and promised price matching through the holidays, I decided the time had come.
This TV replaced a 4-year old 65" LG 4k LED model, so I was already getting 4k resolution, but without the true blacks and newer 4k features like HDR.
I've had this running for 6 weeks, and could not be more pleased. The picture, especially on HDR content, is absolutely stunning. I was a bit worried about the possibility of reflections off of the OLED glass, but that has not been an issue at all unless the can lights in the adjacent room are on, but even then, they are barely visible and only when the screen is black or on a dark scene. Turning those lights off eliminates all reflections.
I am not using the TV sound as I have a good audio system, so I cannot comment on the sound quality,
Mounting is a little harder than a normal wall mount because the mount has to be EXACTLY positioned where you want it since it recesses into the back of the monitor. I had reviewed the mount instructions and several videos prior to installing, but still made the mistake of not allowing for the approximately 1 inch "drop" when you place the monitor on the mount. So it ended up being 1 inch lower than I had planned, but still worked. Also, this model is HEAVY, and I would say that unless you are a pro, you really need 3 people to install it - one on each side and one in front looking down from the top to help align the connection points.
The Gallery design truly does look like a work of art on the wall since it sits almost flush to the wall (less than an inch for sure). The bezel is surprisingly larger than some (I'd say about 1/4"), but it looks appropriate for the 77" model.
I have wanted an OLED because we watch a lot of movies, and a lot of movies with dark scenes, so the true blacks were the most important factor in my decision to purchase.
The gap is certainly closing between OLED and the best LED sets, but I say that if you can afford the extra cash, you will not be disappointed with an OLED TV.

First a quick disclosure, my review is for the 2020 77" GX so I can't comment on the improved reflective capability of a 77" G1. Since it's almost impossible to find a GX today this should help potential G1 buyers.
Two days ago I scored a 77" GX demonstration model from my local BB for $2,099. This is intended as a how to for those of you like me who lusted for a 77" Gallery series but couldn't justify spending just under $4,000 (or like me couldn't justify it to your spouse). Two days ago I installed our new beauty on the wall (see pics) and I'm in love.
As other reviews indicate the picture quality is phenomenal. I already have a 65" C9 and the new set replaced a 2019 75" Samsung Q80 in our sunroom (a good TV but not even close to the GX) After dialing in the AVR forum recommended settings the picture quality is stunning. Here's how I scored the TV.
1. Don't be afraid of BB demo models. They are returnable folks. That is the key. You're not on the hook if there is a problem. All three of our current TV's are BB demos (65" C9 $1399 - 75" Q80 $1499 - 77" GX $2099). The GX had 5600 hours on it (about 1.5 years) and that doesn't bother me at all. OLEDs are rated for 100,000 hours. I haven't had a single issue with any of our demo models. Typically BB lists their demo models as in "satisfactory" condition as they sometimes don't include boxes / stands / remotes.
2. Persistence and timing are required. Normally you'll find great demo deals in the summer / early fall but my good fortune this week shows there are always exception. I checked the BB site 2-3 times a week to see when sets came available. You've got to be willing to drive an hour and have access to an SUV that can transport a bubble wrapped TV.
3. Finally don't be shy. The GX was listed in excellent condition for $2624.99. I went into the store and asked how many hours were on the set. The associate checked and we did the math showing how long it had been on the wall. I hesitated and said, "That's quite a long time". Then I requested he ask the manager if they could come down from the asking price. He did and came back with the $2100 figure. The description on the set said "scratched and missing remote". I asked to see the scratch and was told "we just write that on demo sets so we can come down on the price". This nice young man then spent 30 minutes tracking down the included wall mount and a working magic remote.
Hopefully this helps my fellow lovers of quality who don't want to pay a premium for it.

Excellent state-of-the-art 77” OLED TV. The picture quality is outstanding and the best I’ve seen on any of the TV’s I researched. The TV performs very well in bright light, even surpassing its predecessor, the GX. TV controls are a bit quirky, and could be more intuitive. The warranty is very good. 5 years on the panel.
I had the Geek Squad do the installation and it went great. Justin and Austin were very efficient, professional and very technology knowledgeable.
All in all, it is a superb TV and installation.

This TV is stunning. From how ridiculously thin it is, to the quality of the picture it is simply stunning.
I bought this TV to upgrade from my previous LG OLED (2 generations ago) and the upgrade was better than anticipated. The panel is substantially brighter, movement is handled even better and the UI change is great.
Even the new remote is a substantial improvement over the last magic remote.
I wall mounted mine (the way this TV is meant to be, it DOES NOT come with a stand) and when mounted and pushed back flush against the wall, it is thinner than my window frames, and just looks perfect between the two windows it sits. When in Gallery mode displaying art, it is a sight to behold, but everything looks good on it. Imaging processing has definitely taken a step forward to where even my cable looks great on it.
If the price doesn't scare you off, buy it. You will not regret it.

I had a hard time choosing from all of the options out there today, but choose this LG TV based on the great reviews, and because I wanted a very thin TV that could be flush -mounted to my wall. I could not be happier with ease -of-use and the picture quality. I added an LG sound bar and subwoofer as part of the package deal and the sound is also fantastic! The remote effortlessly interfaces with the sound bar and even my cable box. Very happy with every aspect of this purchase.

I recently purchased the LG 77" Class G1 Series OLED Evo 4K UHD Smart webOS TV with Gallery Design, and I must say it has exceeded my expectations in every way possible. From the moment I set it up in my living room, I was captivated by its stunning design and impressive features.
First and foremost, the OLED Evo display technology delivers unparalleled picture quality. The colors are vibrant, and the contrast is so crisp that it feels like you're witnessing scenes come to life. The 4K UHD resolution ensures every detail is sharp and clear, providing an immersive viewing experience that's hard to match.
The Gallery Design is a game-changer, seamlessly blending the TV into my home decor. It's not just a television; it's a piece of art. The slim profile and minimalist aesthetic make it a focal point in my living room, enhancing the overall ambiance.
The webOS Smart TV functionality is intuitive and user-friendly. Navigating through apps, streaming services, and settings is a breeze. Plus, the TV's compatibility with various streaming platforms ensures that I have access to a vast array of content at my fingertips.
The audio quality is equally impressive, providing a rich and immersive sound experience. Whether I'm watching a movie, playing games, or streaming music, the audio complements the stunning visuals perfectly.
Overall, the LG G1 Series OLED Evo TV has truly transformed my home entertainment setup. It's a perfect blend of cutting-edge technology, elegant design, and user-friendly features. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-of-the-line TV that delivers on both performance and aesthetics.

Worth every penny. My first OLED TV and although its pricey, there is no comparison to the amazing picture this TV puts out. Has all of the bells and whistles (outside of 8k) and easily supports 120hz gaming. Install with the included sheet was a cinch and the TV is flush to the wall, just as advertised. I have a Phillips Hue Sync box where I utilize the 4 inputs for DirecTV, AppleTV, and Firestick 4k. Xbox is connected directly to unit since the sync box cannot pass 120hz.
Citi BestBuy financing at 0% over 24 months. Cost was $2899 on sale and I am currently paying $130/m. < ---- offer made this purchase too easy to turn down.

Chose this unit for the vibrant picture and evo gallery frame; best in class and beat Sony with fully integrated manufacturer componentry. But, i too am distrscted by the wavy glass/plexi? screen. I yoo expect more from LG with this high a price tag. Fine as fine can be in a man cave but as others mention, not the best visual reflection in a room full of windows.

My LG OLED 77G1 PUA EVO Review

Sunday August 15, 2021
My review of my LG OLED 77G1 PUA EVO,
Installation was completed on Tuesday August 3, 2021 with 3 installation technicians which did a good professional job.
In my opinion this TV is currently state of the art, very pricey but you get what you pay for. So far, this TV is all it says it is, I like the flush wall mount, the only thing is the LG engineers could have put my thought on the wiring bracket harnesses on the back of the TV that support the wires, I had to recommend and the Geek Squad techs used a 6 inch piece of my duct tape to hold the wires in place while mounting my TV Flush to the wall.
This TV comes with a pattern of the TV where you decide and it should be mounted on your wall, I had to have mine remounted lower, and had to make another appointment and wait 2 weeks. The Geek Squad technicians in the first installation didn’t leave me the wall pattern, make sure you tell the Geek Squad Techs you want this pattern and save it if you need your TV to be remounted to your specifications.
I have to use 3 remotes: 1 for the TV, 1 for my home theater system and 1 for my cable/satellite system. The LG engineers should put more thought to combine and use 1 remote to run Everything, All 3 systems on my TV. With todays very powerful computer processor chips I’m sure the LG engineers can fix this. I don’t not want to use an off the shelf universal remote that costs $90 and takes 1 hour to download the required software to use it.
So far, I am very happy with my TV, I will post more in the coming weeks if requested.
Joe
