This is an awesome cd-r drive. It is easy to set up and use, and the price is great. I got this to use with a MacBook Air and it works great at the fraction of the cost of the Apple cd-r drive.

I bought this to put my cds on a new Mac. The reviews were all good so I bought it. It is an excellent piece of equipment. It connects easily, looks good along side the Mac, and does what is expected. Can't ask for more.

Great drive. It is recognized by the OS quickly and is up and running within a minute. I like that it only uses one USB cord to both connect and power the unit! It is also very light and compact!

I bought a new laptop, which has no internal CD/DVD drive. That is unfavorable in my world. So I purchased this thinking it was going to be so easy. No, it's not easy. Software is installed, it's setup but getting the program to actually work with what I need is tough. And I want to be able to view DVDs (movies) I've had for years. From what I have figured out, that feature isn't part of the initial install. I have to upgrade, at what further expense I do not know. I have successfully managed to do some file backups. Too much stuff on the screen to do something basic. So this is really not doing me much good. I think LG has a good product. It's truly slimline, portable, plug-n-play. One day, I hope to master this device.

Little known fact - the new MacBooks with the USB-C connection need an adaptor (obviously) to connect to Apple’s CD/DVD drive, which has a standard USB 3.0 attached. However, there are no adaptors in issue that can convert the power needed to run the Apple CD/DVD drive. It is Apple’s way of doing away with peripheral storage and going to full streaming and storing on the Cloud. If you, like me, still need a CD or DVD reader or writer, this unit seamlessly (and for 1/2 the price) replaces Apple’s CD/DVD unit. I have no complaints with this LG unit whatsoever.

What a great little product. My writer allows me to store images and files with confidence. It is ligh, fast, and very reliable. It is also very affordable.

This external DVD/CD writer fits my needs, it's slim, light and takes little space in my carrying case. Good value and functionality.

USB 3.0 DVD R/W. Great drive for computers that don't have one built in. Thin light and easy to take with you. Plugs into USB and just works.

A very good external DVD Player. Note: a tray does not pop out. You put the disc in the slot or you eject the disc from the slot. I hooked it up to my CyberPowerPC and it worked immediately. No issues and nothing to download. As Always I do recommend registering all products due to warranty concerns. Good Day

Was looking for a replacement drive for my existing external CD/DVD drive because it is quite large and requires an external power supply. Came across this drive on the Best Buy website. The specs listed all the requirement I needed and in addition it is USB powered so only one cable is required to carry power and data between the main computer and the drive. Works great, It is very quiet and works flawlessly. Also the price was reasonable.

I have a 13" MacBook Air that's a few years old and did not come with an internal DVD/CD drive. This has been a great addition and filled the gap I wanted to fill by having it. It's fairly fast, but images are a tad slower than regular, other files, but that's fine, I can still review and use the images. I have a lot of older DVD's and CD's used to store older images and data, so the only way to get to them was this. I also waited for it to go on sale, so saved quite a bit doing so to boot. I am very pleased with it.

Awesome product. Works well with Windows 7 and 8. It was very easy installation and has worked well everytime I use it. I definitely recommend this for anyone who needs a CD/DVD driver.

I added this to my laptop, since the laptop did not have a CD-DVD drive. It is compact and portable. For what little I have used it, it is fast and simple to use.

EASY TO USE, GREAT SIZE TO TAKE IN SMALL PLACES & LIGHT WEIGHT

Unfortunately, I can not give this a 5-Star review as it never worked properly. This was due to the fact that the package, although labeled as Mac compatible, was missing the Mac OS disc to allow it to function with our iMac. That problem was only compounded when we returned it to the BB store and they did not have a unit with the correct disc. Ah well. Otherwise the unit itself was slim, easy to plug in and very quiet while operating. IF you need an optical drive and are using a Windows PC, this drive might be perfect for you.

I own multiple computers and had to replace my beloved multimedia desktop. Like many of the newer computers, this one did not have a DVD player/recorder. One of the latest Windows 10 updates wiped out my ability to play DVD's on my old computer. Thus this inexpensive DVD writer/player fit the bill. I can move it between my new notebook, another laptop, my desktop & my laptop. Majority of videos can be downloaded or streamed, but the ability to watch a DVD or install a new program from a disc (rather than downloaded) is terrific. It works perfectly & was inexpensive. To quote another commercial "Who could ask for anything more"? Love this product!
