I bought this LG optical drive because my new desktop computer doesn’t have one internally and I still have music and movies on disk. It is also handy for loading software on to a new computer. This drive is plug and play, very light weight and easy to use—once you determine where the disk goes in.

This DVD/CD drive works fairly well, but it is noisy. I haven't had any issues with it playing a DVD or a CD. I haven't tried writing to it yet, so I don't know how well that works.

This DVD writer is very small and light weight. You won't even know it's in your laptop case. It is also very easy to use.

Easy to install Light weight Compatible with Apple

This works fantastic! I had an old laptop that I kept because I could watch dvds on it. It finally died and my new mac didn't have a way to watch dvds (saves so much money to borrow movies from the library for free). No software needed, just connect to my mac and watch the dvds?

It works very well with my laptop that I also purchased from Best Buy. I like the feature where you just slide your DVD/CD in the front of the unit and it then just sucks it in too. I never had a laptop that didn't have a DVD/CD built into it before but this external DVD/CD unit is great!

This is a good DVD/CD but you do need a split USB cable to run the this portable R/W. Be aware of the CyberLink programs before you download them, they do not give you a movie player program. You still have to find one. I found the free ALC media player a good choice. This unit runs very quiet and looks great, I give it 4 stars because it does what I want it to do.

This is an inexpensive solution to a laptop that lacks a CD drive. I rarely use a CD drive but I still occasionally need one to upload a new music CD or software that I still prefer to own on CD without reliance on the cloud. This drive is small and light weight. You simply feed the CD into the slot on the front of the drive--no tray to deal with. When not in use I store in in a slot of my mail sorter along with my external numeric keypad.

Before purchasing this device, I compared reviews with a similar product made by Apple. The reviews regarding the LG drive where better than the Apple product. Also, the price on the LG was lower. I'm glad I chose this drive. It's slim, compact, portable, and inexpensive. best of all... it works as described.

I like the size and weight. Fast performance. This device will travel well.

It's small, light, looks good, and it does the job well. I do have two concerns though. The first is that if you plan on traveling with it just make sure it's well protected as it seems a little delicate. The next concern is that it has to lay as flat as possible. I tried tilting it as well as putting it on edge, but you'll immediately here the disc start to really grind. Overall it's a great unit for occasional use, but definitely overpriced.

This was my first purchase of an external DVD/CD unit for a computer. I am very happy with this unit, it works flawlessly, and the software which makes operation very easy. Highly recommended, certainly worth the price. Also, appreciated info on the Best Buy website and sales staff at the store.

I teach elementary music. My principal just got new MacBook pros for the teachers this year. Teaching music without a CD drive in my computer is quite difficult! I need my music! So a wonderful employee at my Best Buy helped me pick this product out. It works fast and it works well. Easy to hook up to my computer, use it for what I need, and easy to store it when I don't. Quite happy with it!

I haven't used this device extensively, I bought it for backup and input for my HP laptop which did not come equipped with one. It has worked flawlessly. Multisession multilayer it doesn't get any better and it's about 1/10th the size of my other external DVD burner. No external power supply either, just plug it into an available USB port and burn. It doesn't get any better than this.

Who would have ever known that we would ever get to a spot where most DVD drive a are WRITE ONLY. This is very nice to have on hand since the vast majority of new commercial grade laptops do not have drives and yes some software still does. This is a must have in every persons IT bag, very handy, reliable, and quick. This is coming from over 30 years if IT experience.
