The included software is comically out of date (2014), and the current version of the software costs an additional $60. The new software seems to be required for this to work. Every disc I try to play shows a error pop up that tells me that the disc is corrupted, despite them working fine in other blu ray players. This is after installing the software on multiple computers and updating everything imaginable. Do not buy this product.

I've been wanting one and this one was on sale and was reasonable. It can be used as a player or burner. This one is a good build quality and I've placed over 60 discs over the past 5 or 6 months and its still working like it did day one.

Many software titles still ship on DVD and you might not want to wait for a digital download. And if your HDD crashes, kiss your digital download goodbye. Great tool to create physical backups (as opposed to cloud-type backups). Oh yeah, and you can watch DVDs/BluRays with it ;-)
