    now that laptops are NOT including a DVD/CD drive, this is now an added expense....not real pleased about that. laptops cost enough already and now you have to buy something more that SHOULD be included with it. but it does the job

    I was leery of trying another LG CD/DVD after a bad experience with an ultra thin that never has played DVDs (though it works OK for CDs, its primary use). But I tried this unit, knowing I could return it with Best Buy's policies. Anyway, this unit works fine and was a good value.

    Purchased this dvd burner/drive because my computer didn't have a drive. Does the job fine. It does take 2 usb ports to power the drive which isn't a problem since I already had a USB hub. You do need quality cd/dvd's when burning. Cheaper cd/dvd's tend to fail a lot during burning on this drive. But then it could be that the blanks were the cause of failure.
