This unit is probably as good as any out there. It's a sorry state of affairs that these things don't come standard on all CPU's and laptops. How long has Blu-Ray been around? Going on 12 years now?

The only thing that keeps me from giving a 5 star is the price. It was the most expensive external blu-ray drive available at the store that time when we bought it.

This works just fine for that purpose. Picture quality is great in combination with HP laptop. Software is included, so don't forget to install. Otherwise you will go on a hunt for paid apps.

It took a while to get used to using the arrow keys instead of the mouse but other than that it is quiet and the image quality is siper.

So far it hasn't failed or giving me problems burning mostly double layer DVDs and occasional Blu Rays. I bought it together with a new PC for an excellent price.

I dislike that this drive is a USB 2.0 with 2 connectors instead of a USB 3.x with an adapter for 2.0. They probably did this to save money, but how much did they really save?

So I've had jury-rig a patch work of extension cables, or plug it into a wall adapter.
