Customers are saying
Customers value the ease of use, Blu-ray functionality, compact size, and compatibility of the 8x External USB 2.0 Blu-ray Disc Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Disc Rewriter. Many appreciate its performance and the affordable price point. However, some users have expressed concerns regarding the included software and the noise level during operation. The positive feedback on ease of use and Blu-ray playback outweighs the negative comments on software and noise.

Excellent Reader/Writer. Highly recommended.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used LG Disc writers in the past, both internal and external to a pc. All have been proven to work well. Great to have should you be using a computer that does not have a similar internal drive; and wish to use a disc.

Useful for mass storage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This drive's value is its ability to store large amounts of data such as photographs, music, videos on Blu-ray disks. I have used it on 50GB disks. It is powered from USB which obviates the need for a power supply.

Overall Good Quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Disc Rewriter is light, works well with laptops, and made the trip from California to Colorado easy. Makes for easy traveling. Only downside is the drive feels a little flimsy and "cheap", but have not had any issues with it since purchase.

Recommend
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second purchase of the same drive. I beat the crap out of the first one, hundreds of hours of use. When it finally started to malfunction, I had no reservations about replacing it with the same exact thing!!!!

Great External Reader/Writer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Faster than I expected even though it's USB 2.0 instead of 3.0. Read/Write speeds are consistent with specifications. Opens and closes as smooth as any laptop CD/DVD/Blu-Ray drive.

Works. Better work for $100. ;)
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well enough. Can do everything from Blu Ray on. Not sure it needed a USB cable with two USB adapters (presumably one for power). I wound up using a blue-tipped 3.0 USB cable instead and it works just fine.

Compact and Easy to Use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The BR drive is very light, and very functional. Uses only USB drive port to power and installing the enclosed software is fast and simple. So far it is only recognizable to the computer when there is a disc in the drive. CyberLink soft ware works great.

Uses 2 USB Slots
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Takes 2 USB slots to run the Blue-Ray. A little disappointing. Maybe that's common but I did not realize that. Won't work on Surface or Lenovo Ultrabook

Love it!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have bought this over 3 years ago and used it weekly. It unfortunately broke on us and we had to buy a new one. We bought the insurance just in case it breaks again. Well worth another $10 to get a new one, especially since it is heavily used.

Hardware works but software is a pain
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Drive works and reads discs, but the software disc that came with it does not install on Windows 11 and when reaching out to the company they do everything they can to not address the issue.

Good purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed an external drive and I purchased this one. So far it has done everything that I needed it to do. Only needed to use one USB drive and no issues. The only thing negative is the power USB is too short to reach my second port. Luckily I do not need to use it.

Believe it is a good buy
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It seemed to work well. However, it would crash my computer after a few minutes of reading a disc's info. It is possible it could have been the computer.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this drive to share between my laptop and desktop it works well as a DVD/Blu-rays playe,r but with Blu-rays it seems a little slow to start up but other wise works fine.

Works as advertised
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I am really enjoying this. Was intending to just buy an external dvd-rw drive but decided to get this. It is really handy to be able to store so much data. Got home and immediately backed up all of our photos on three dics.

Perfect for what it is
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Macbook that doesn't include a disc drive, and I was needing an alternative for a project that required discs; this ended up being a great investment because it not only works for Blu-Ray discs but also regular CDs as well. Works great, no problem whatsoever.

Buyer beware.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im giving this a fair rating which I will explain here in a minute. Thinking that LG would be a safe bet, I had no issue paying a higher price tag for this drive. Drive worked as expected for 6 months or so. Now my computer was not recognizing the drive all of a sudden. Spent several hours running diagnostic tests, reinstalling drivers but to no avail. Windows kept listing it as a USB storage device. Come to find out after scouring the internet it appears to be a power issue which floors me as it worked fine for 6 months prior to all of a sudden have this issue. I no longer have the USB A y cable it came with so I can not accurately test if it truely is a power issue or of this device is defective. I am also not going to buy one just to prove it. I have an old LG cd drive I use that works flawlessly. This is a major fail by LG. If you buy this drive maybe hold onto the y cable because it may require some more power for whatever weird reason as a drive does not draw much power and should be capable of receiving that power over USB. I will now go look gor a cheap drive else where because this was disappointingly a bust.

The design is great and product is convenient
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The issue comes with the program attached. It feels cheap and outdated for such an expensive product. It works but just feels outdated.

Get the extended warranty
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good product but the first one I bought stopped working about four months after purchase. Purchased another of the same model and it's working well. This time I did purchase the extended warranty. Learned my lesson.

Works great for what I wanted
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this portable DVD drive I can hook up to my laptop. I’ve only watched DVDs not burn any and I do see the cord is way too small to plug both in- so when I’m ready to burn I’ll need to look for a solution for that.
