I decided to see what Best Buy had and I wanted to price see the difference between a regular DVD player and a Blu-ray Disc writer. I decided to go with the LG Blu-ray Disc writer and wasn't disappointed.

One drive has about 1k rips on it and still running strong. Be advised both drives require two usb's each.

The only drawback is that it takes 2 USB ports. I advise getting an adapter that will give you 4 USB off the one port.

I like to watch movies from my laptop. This add on drive does the trick but is another piece I now have to take with me.

However, I am unable to install ANY of the applications on it (they all give "extraction of Data1.7z was unsuccessful" and "Error code: 2". CyberLink Support is useless. So I am unable to use the drive for the purpose I bought it (the BD side).

I believe it is a good player but it doesn't come with any software player, such as Power DVD ect., which cost upwords 75.00. Kinda stinks paying a fair amount for the device not realizing you have to buy software as well

DVD player for new laptop.

It seems DVD/CD players are yesterday's technology and we still need to use ours to view our DVDs. Many of the external DVD/CD players will not play Blue Ray DVDs, this one will do the job just fine.

I haven't had any occasion to use it yet, so my overall "average" rating of is tentative. The price was acceptable.

Be aware that you need two USB ports close to each other in order to operate this drive. (1 for power, the other for data).
