Took a leap of faith and purchased this item based on the Blue Shirt recommendation. Works as expected . Simple plug and play. Haven't recorded anything yet, but will put it through its paces soon.

It works like described, but is very loud. I would suggest an internal blu-ray drive as the couple of externals I have owned are just not as good.

No issues with this drive. I am 4-starring it because of value. I am pretty sure if I worked harder I could have found a cheaper drive for playing blu-ray discs off of my laptop.

I can only speak for watching DVD's with the LG, I have not used it yet for a disc rewriter. The picture quality is great on my Asus laptop. I could recommend for watching movies.

Works very well. No problem using it with my laptop. Very fast in writing cd's. Excellent choice.

I love this drive and use it for my new laptop (Dell XPS). I also used it to digitize my entire collection of movies. I would highly recommend.

I used this product to back up thousands of family photos by taking it on the road with me, and not having to “borrow” pictures from family members. With a portable scanner and this device the job was a snap.

Drive makes lots of squeaky noised, poor quality. Cyberlink powerDvd software is junk wouldn't install. You have to shell out another $100 to get latest from them. Instead buy DvdFab.

What can one say? This LG Blue-ray disc unit has it all. It has the capability to play just about every format there is. It also has the bonus of coming with an excellent software package. I highly recommend it!

It reads DVDs and blue rays great just note it requires 2 USB ports to use which is a bit cumbersome

Nice portable blue ray for computer. It will only attach to certain computers. Unable to watch blue ray on TV.

I'm happy knowing I can now watch movies, download items and save music to my laptop/tablet. Glad to see they've thought about making this item a reality for person's such as myself that went this route with there laptop/tablet technology.

Find another usb disc reader. Not only does this one want you to install software using a disc in order to use it, even on a Windows 10 computer where it should be plug-and-play these days, but it still doesn’t even work with its own software. I installed the software and tried to play a brand new bluray disk and it couldn’t read it. After about 4 tries, it finally read the disc, but had a persistent banner saying that it couldn’t read a required part and to try again later (so it never actually let me watch the movie). Look elsewhere.

The drive is of a quality build and does the tasks it was designed to do. I was happy to see it came with installation software despite being easy with plug-and-play.

I've only really used this to burn so far. I have played a DVD on it, and it worked great with the software it came with. I have yet to use it for anything else. I hope I don't have the same problems as the other reviewers.

Works perfectly. However, any potential buyer should be aware that this LG external Blu-ray read/write drive requires two USB ports - one for power and one for data transfer. Not a problem for me, but could an issue for someone else.

I thought by getting this I could rip a blu ray and add it to my library, but I didn’t see that option. Cool product though.

I had purchased another blu-ray player to work with my new Dell desktop that has WIn10. The blu-ray disc wouldn't play smoothly; therefore, I returned the player. I then purchased the LG Blu-ray player and it plays flawlessly on my computer.
