So far, this unit has been excellent for watching blu-ray movies but customers should know that you need software to actually play the disc and I would recommend powerDVD if you can afford it.

Seems to work well in both reading and writing. Speed seems pretty good to considering it's only a USB 2 drive. I will echo others when they say that you need to make sure to plug in both USB plugs into your PC to make sure it gets enough power. Seems to work with most software too.

It's a good Blu-Ray player, the roughly 2ft/60cm cord does need 2 USB ports to plug into though but that shouldn't be a problem for most people. I recommend getting VLC media player which is free online, if you own any DVDs purchased from outside your region, I'm not sure if it works for Blu-Rays since I don't own any from outside my region.

I accidently broke my cd rom drive in my computer and I bought the most expensive external drive they had assuming I was getting the best.. have not been disappointed thus far. I can download music, watch DVDs and Blu Ray and can even read MRI scans

I bought this blu-ray drive so I could convert blu-ray discs (using special software) for viewing on my tablet. I've only used it once, so far, but it seemed to work fine hooked up to my laptop. I like that it gets its power from a USB cable, too, so there's less jockeying for electrical outlets.

This blue ray is simple to set up on pc, and plug n play on Mac. Thin and portable just like I needed.

This thing does what it is supposed to do. It rips CDs very quickly. The bluerays take a little bit longer but the quality is decent. I would recommend this to anyone looking to digitize their collection of CDs or movies.

Works great on my MacPro for burning 50GB dual layer Blu-Ray discs, but note it requires two open USB ports. The included dual USB cable is pretty short, and the construction is kind of flimsy, but considering the price and performance it's not a deal breaker .

Reads blu-ray discs as it should. Can run with only one of the USB plugs if its a powered USB3 port so can be used on things like laptops easily if ports are limited. FYI, on PCs you have to have software that can actually play blu-ray movies, so don't expect to just be able to watch blu-rays on your PC by just plugging it in. No idea if this is an issue on other operating systems because I don't have them.

Works fine with Windows 10. Meets all the expectations that I had with this DVD/ blue ray writer.

Install was easy and it works as advertised. The unit has worked without issue with Windows 10.

I needed this to burn a couple of DVDs and BluRays for a client. It worked out great! I downloaded the software online as the disk that came with the packaging was for PC computers, and I use Apple iMac. Would definitely recommend if you need for burning disks or if you need to own something portable if your computer doesn’t have a disk tray.

Optical disk drives aren’t included with computers any more, which was really a pain for me when I upgraded. My solution was this external drive. It connects through the USB port, doesn’t take up much space, and works great!

I was looking to find a blu-ray and DVD player because the 2-in-1 I bought doesn't have a DVD drive, so after two or three other tries all resulting in needing to buy software before I'd be able to play a DVD, I ended up with this one. While it did feel like I had to download a lot of software for free, it plays DVDs and blu-rays without any issues.
