I do not have / use Blue Ray, but after chatting with the online help at BestBuy.com, I decided to buy the LG - 8x External USB 2.0 Blu-ray Disc Double-Layer Dvd±rw/CD-RW Disc Rewriter. It was easy to set up, and after just a few minutes of clicking around .... I got the hang of it. Now I can watch my DVDs at my leisure.

Good Product - One Catch

There is one catch that is not well advertised = it does NOT have an external power source and will therefore require 2 USB ports to operate which can be a hassle depending on your device set up. And, it is not guaranteed to work using a hub setup.

Older drive, still a great buy

I basically wanted to watch BluRay discs on my computer which did not have a drive that could support them, and the idea of an external one was intriguing for the other uses. So far I have only used it on my desktop, but knowing I could use it on any laptop I wanted to or even on a television made it quite appealing.

fast external drive

So we decided to get a blue ray drive and to copy the back up disk for the computer onto blue ray disk. This very fast and it only took one disk. This is a good investment if you plan on purchasing an external drive

Great for both Mac and Windows machines

I can rest on the flights to Asia knowing if my computer breaks I have my disc's that will run on any computer for my lectures. I bought the LG beacuse it works for my needs.
