I bought this to play my DVDs on my laptop, since I am temporarily without my TV & DVD player. I do not have / use Blue Ray, but after chatting with the online help at BestBuy.com, I decided to buy the LG - 8x External USB 2.0 Blu-ray Disc Double-Layer Dvd±rw/CD-RW Disc Rewriter. It was easy to set up, and after just a few minutes of clicking around .... I got the hang of it. Now I can watch my DVDs at my leisure.

Easy tu use. Super lightweight and almos no sound.

Needed a portable DVD PLAYER for my laptop. It’s amazing how much difference a few years makes. Five years ago the quality of a Portable DVD PLAYER as compared in the present. Get the Blu-ray version because a regular player would can’t play blu-ray Versions. While a blu-ray versions can play both regular and blu-ray versions.

REPEAT I purchased this because my laptop no longer has a CD/DVD drive and I thought that this would be good for me to be able to watch Blu-rays. However, I was never able to get a Blu-ray to play, anytime I put a Blu-ray in, it would only show the files as if it was trying to write to a Blu-ray disc. However, if I put a DVD in, it would play perfectly fine. For all of that, if that was the case, I would've purchased the cheaper DVD player instead of the Blu-ray player. I asked the rep if this would play and they told me that it would. But when it didn't I thought maybe I purchased a lemon so I returned it and the next one I bought did the same thing. So this made me realize that it was the player itself. Can't give it five stars because it doesn't do what it should do in my opinion.

This LG Blu-Ray player is an easy to use product - its slim, lightweight, easily portable - just plug in & go. There is one catch that is not well advertised = it does NOT have an external power source and will therefore require 2 USB ports to operate which can be a hassle depending on your device set up. And, it is not guaranteed to work using a hub setup.

There are many newer and faster versions of this drive out now, but this one still does everything I need it to. I basically wanted to watch BluRay discs on my computer which did not have a drive that could support them, and the idea of an external one was intriguing for the other uses. So far I have only used it on my desktop, but knowing I could use it on any laptop I wanted to or even on a television made it quite appealing.

Both of my two LG external drive performed excellently for me during the 8 years I own them. I bought this drive to replace my older LG due to its much smaller size. I did have to add some small 3M rubber feet to it since it sits very low to the ground. So far, everything works well on it.

My son recommended this model for my Mac computer. It’s fast and easy to use.

This external DVD/CD/Blu-ray player work good so far I haven't tested it with any Blu-ray disc yet but it is a great addition to my resent Ibuypower rtx 2060 & Samsung 28 4K IPS 28R55 purchase. Very easy to use just plug into usb port on my PC and ready to play it also came with media Suite 10 disc.

We bought a new computer and it did not come with a disk drive. So we decided to get a blue ray drive and to copy the back up disk for the computer onto blue ray disk. This very fast and it only took one disk. This is a good investment if you plan on purchasing an external drive

I need to down load information from both my computers to disc for back-up when traveling overseas. I can rest on the flights to Asia knowing if my computer breaks I have my disc's that will run on any computer for my lectures. I bought the LG beacuse it works for my needs.

Great for playing bluerays on the laptop. Runs both movies and disks at high speed.

Hard drive has solid performance, is small and lightweight. Very good product

It's my second one. First player saw 1000's of dvd/cd's and still will works, just slowing down and needs a little encouraging to to get started. I liked the old one so much, and it served me well, I bought the same one again.
