Customers are saying

Customers value the ease of use, Blu-ray functionality, compact size, and compatibility of the 8x External USB 2.0 Blu-ray Disc Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Disc Rewriter. Many appreciate its performance and the affordable price point. However, some users have expressed concerns regarding the included software and the noise level during operation. The positive feedback on ease of use and Blu-ray playback outweighs the negative comments on software and noise.

    Solid and dependable Blu-ray drive

This has proven a reliable BD/DVD/CD reader and burner. I got it as a portable device that I could move to different systems as needed and to give BD burner support for large audio project backup. A single project can easily break 20GB, uncompressed, so DVD just isn't going to cut it. It works well in both PC and Mac. That latter was discovered when my wife had to use a Mac that was provided to her to burn several playlists for performance CDs. I would suggest that you stick with the 25GB single layer discs for now. The 50GB are not reliable. This is a technological limitation, not an issue with this or *any* other BD drive.

    Great little disk drive

So far this has been an extremely easy to use player. Plugged in, connected automatically and was up and running in just a few moments. I’ve used this to install older software that I still use and have disks for as well as watched DVDs and Blu-Rays with it. The quality is very good. It’s pretty quiet except for when initializing the disk on startup. I usually keep in my back pack with my laptop and it makes it very easy to to be able to watch movies while. traveling. Would definitely recommend. My only complaint after months of use is that it takes up two USB ports to operate.

This is such a great blu-ray! I love being able to use it with my laptop or tv wherever I'm at! The software that came with it didn't work originally and i had to go through a long process to get good software but all in all it worked out and I thoroughly enjoy it!

This drive performs as advertised. Ive used it so far to watch DVDs, Blu-rays and to view pictures/burn pictures onto a CD with zero issues. The drive runs mostly quiet outside of hearing the rotation speed change, and even then I dont find it to be an issue. My one complaint with this drive is the continued use of Micro-USB. Because of this choice, you have to have two open USB-A ports close to one another to provide adequate power/data transfer capabilities to the drive. This, in my opionion, is not a deal breaker.

I bought this to go with a laptop I have that doesn’t have a built in drive to play DVDs or Bluray. It does take two USB ports so it’s highly recommended to have a USB adapter that allows for more devices to be connected. It plays whatever DVDs or bluray media I insert. Great option for watching movies/tv shows on the go.

I wish that apple would develop a blu-ray player in the computers. Since they don't I purchase this since it was at an excellent price. It is very easy to use and works excellently with my MacBook Pro. I love it.

This is a nice little Blue-ray drive. I picked one up for when I travel due to not having a Blu-ray player in my laptop. I've tried it with several DVD and Blu-ray movies and it's worked great. Also have used as a second drive for my main PC if I need more than one at a time. It may not be as fast as the internal drive but is more than adequate to watch a movie.

The good: It’s fast, quiet, and slim. Best of all, you can flash it with LibreDrive to do UHD Blu-ray’s (it’ll only do standard Blu-ray’s otherwise). The bad: It requires the highly customized micro-USB cable that has 2 USB-A ports on the other end. Since you can’t use a standard cable, you can’t make it longer or shorter to fit your needs. This would have been so easily solved with USB-C or micro-USB B 3.0.

This works very good. My main purpose was to read Blu-ray discs, I read only reviews about DVDs, so I was hesitant about it. Nevertheless, this worked just fine, speed is ok but if you're transmitting high bitrate video make sure your USB port in your computer can handle that speed. Very portable totally recommend it.

    Great Slim Blu-Ray Drive

I've had this LG Slim Blu Ray Drive for about 4 months now. In that time, I've used it to read dozens of discs (CD, DVD, Blu-Ray). If you flash it with new firmware, you can even get it to play 4K UHD blu-ray discs! Overall, I'm very satisfied--my only complaint is that the cable is fairly short and requires two USB-A ports (one for power and one for data from what I understand). Other than that, it's great, especially if you can get it on sale!

Good thin player for playing Blu-ray. I have used it with a windows 10 laptop and a windows 11 desktop. To date I have only used to play movies and haven’t used the burn capability so I cannot comment on that function. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a portable player.

A Little Player Well Worth the Price

I was looking for an external drive that would let me play my CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray. I came across this little gem of a player. It's very compact; sits unobtrusively right atop my computer, and performs its core functions very nicely. It does take up two USB ports, but I plugged it and two external HDs into a four-port USB hub, plugged that hub into a USB port on my CPU, and all the devices work just fine.

This drive worked perfectly allowing me to copy all the movies I have accumulated over time. Around 200 with a mixture of blu-ray and standard DVDS. Flawless for all.

Like this product & was easy to install with included Cyberlink Media Suite Software. Only problem was I installed in my personal computer which is a 32bit which was fine but then tried to install in my work laptop which is a 64bit & it would not install. I even went as far as downloading Windows XP mode to my laptop which gave it 32bit functionality and was then able to install but it only gave me trial versions of Media Suite. I have sent messages to Cyberlink to address this but no reply back & I am only asking if the software disk was only a one time application, to buy software alone your looking at $70 plus for it almost as much as the drive itself. A reply back from Cyberlink would be nice.

Haven't used it much but so far it's working good. I tried a Blu-ray movie on it and it works on our HP Omen just fine. I haven't tried to burn a disc yet but I'm sure it will work. Nice design only flaw I've noticed is it's very loud when it's spinning at full speed but that's kinda expected but only complaint would be is that it's so light and on a desk surface when it's spinning full speed it tends to vibrate around and move on the desk. Obviously u can sit something beside it to keep it from moving around but it's something to think about

I've had this for over 2 years now and its still going strong. I've had no issues with it and just used it again recently. It has never let me down and has been a great addition to my laptop and desktop when needed. I would buy again if needed and recommend this product to anyone needing a DVD+RW/CD-RW drive.

Add optical drive to your laptop or desktop PC. This plays Blu-Ray or DVD disks or records data to blank blu-ray or DVDs. Most laptops and desktops no longer have optical drives, so this fills that gap with a portable drive that is interchangeable between devices.

If you need to burn blu-rays or dvds, or to just play discs, this unit will meet your needs! All software is included and is quite comprehensive. Can be a bit noisy with some discs, but not terrible. Be warned that this uses a dual USB-A plug, so you'll need 2 open ports on your computer to use it. Since I have ports on each side of the laptop, I just use a usb extension cable to connect the second usb plug. Kinda wish this model used USB-C, rather than micro-USB, though
