Customers are saying

Customers value the ease of use, Blu-ray functionality, compact size, and compatibility of the 8x External USB 2.0 Blu-ray Disc Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Disc Rewriter. Many appreciate its performance and the affordable price point. However, some users have expressed concerns regarding the included software and the noise level during operation. The positive feedback on ease of use and Blu-ray playback outweighs the negative comments on software and noise.

First, Cyberlink playback software included with the bundle crashed my computer. Which was odd, because the Cyberlink Ultra HD Blu-ra Advisor software (also included in the bundle) had proclaimed that my computer passed all requirements to play Blu-rays. OK, let's not blame the LG drive for that. I loaded a free Blu-ray playback software and found that the drive would load some of my blu-ray movies but not others. It would huff and puff for five minutes before giving up. In case the problem was my old desktop computer, I tried everything on a new laptop. Same problem: some movies loaded and played; others did not. That was not good enough, so I took it back. I'm giving this two stars instead of one because the blu-rays that worked did so immediately, and playback was fine. But I didn't pay over $100 for a drive that offered only a 50/50 chance that I could watch my movie.

The only problem I had was I had to buy Cyberlink PowerDVD 22 Ultra to make it work with windows 11. After I did it works great. I wish I would have know that before I bought the external drive.

Certainly not an elaborate piece of equipment and maybe not the highest quality one on the market but you cannot beat the price. We actually bought a much more expensive Apple Pay is to go with her MacBook and we couldn’t get it to work with some software bugs that were going on at the time with the new iOS. We bought this alternative and it worked right out of the box. We were only wanting to play DVDs, it does not play Blu-ray but I don’t own any so I don’t really care. I actually don’t wanna own any DVDs anymore when it comes down to it, lol.

Decent blu-ray player for newer macbook pro that does not have a CD drive. easy to move around and take with me to various locations. Now and again it has a slight delay in starting up but for the most part this is a good product.

To FINALLY enjoy blu-rays on my computer

I had been searching for a blu-ray player a year past that connected to my computer. Unfortunately for me, same such devices were not available in store for me two months before The COVID-19 Pandemic. So during the following mass sequestration, I stuck with my computer's built-in DVD player and my DVDs. It was passable but when new physical media is sometimes released as only a blu-ray, it became a hindrance for enjoying new releases. It was lucky for me to find that external USB blu-ray player when I did because I did not expect to find it. Nowadays, I can finally enjoy blu-rays on my computer.

The LG - 8x External USB 2.0 Blu-ray Disc Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Disc Rewriter is a great quality product for the price. Although a higher cost than others, this represents the best available for an external USB Blu-ray Rewriter.

This is a good value, compared to what we used to pay for Blu-Ray DVD players. So far, it's been able to read everything I put into the drive without a single glitch. That is worth alot to me!

I bought this product to use as a Blu-Ray player for a laptop instead of a DVD writer. No instructions on how to do this & my bad - tiny writing on box that said "No software included". Even the salesperson didn't know this. A Geek Squad rep mentioned that you needed to download a player & that any would work, but the device still does not recognize the DVD format. It may work for it's primary function, but having trouble using for a secondary one.

Very good portable blu-ray burner. It is fast and quiet. The only option that I wish that came with this portable blu-ray burner is USB 3.0 interface because a lot of portable dvd drives have the USB 3.0 interface included.
