This drive performs as advertised. Ive used it so far to watch DVDs, Blu-rays and to view pictures/burn pictures onto a CD with zero issues. The drive runs mostly quiet outside of hearing the rotation speed change, and even then I dont find it to be an issue. My one complaint with this drive is the continued use of Micro-USB. Because of this choice, you have to have two open USB-A ports close to one another to provide adequate power/data transfer capabilities to the drive. This, in my opionion, is not a deal breaker.

Like this product & was easy to install with included Cyberlink Media Suite Software. Only problem was I installed in my personal computer which is a 32bit which was fine but then tried to install in my work laptop which is a 64bit & it would not install. I even went as far as downloading Windows XP mode to my laptop which gave it 32bit functionality and was then able to install but it only gave me trial versions of Media Suite. I have sent messages to Cyberlink to address this but no reply back & I am only asking if the software disk was only a one time application, to buy software alone your looking at $70 plus for it almost as much as the drive itself. A reply back from Cyberlink would be nice.

Good thin player for playing Blu-ray. I have used it with a windows 10 laptop and a windows 11 desktop. To date I have only used to play movies and haven’t used the burn capability so I cannot comment on that function. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a portable player.

I bought this to go with a laptop I have that doesn’t have a built in drive to play DVDs or Bluray. It does take two USB ports so it’s highly recommended to have a USB adapter that allows for more devices to be connected. It plays whatever DVDs or bluray media I insert. Great option for watching movies/tv shows on the go.

Great Slim Blu-Ray Drive

I've had this LG Slim Blu Ray Drive for about 4 months now. In that time, I've used it to read dozens of discs (CD, DVD, Blu-Ray). If you flash it with new firmware, you can even get it to play 4K UHD blu-ray discs! Overall, I'm very satisfied--my only complaint is that the cable is fairly short and requires two USB-A ports (one for power and one for data from what I understand). Other than that, it's great, especially if you can get it on sale!

I got this as my new laptop didn't have a built in Blu-ray player. It is really easy to install the software and works great. Really small and light weight so it would be easy to take with you on a trip etc.. Speed is quick.

Haven't used it much but so far it's working good. I tried a Blu-ray movie on it and it works on our HP Omen just fine. I haven't tried to burn a disc yet but I'm sure it will work. Nice design only flaw I've noticed is it's very loud when it's spinning at full speed but that's kinda expected but only complaint would be is that it's so light and on a desk surface when it's spinning full speed it tends to vibrate around and move on the desk. Obviously u can sit something beside it to keep it from moving around but it's something to think about

If you need to burn blu-rays or dvds, or to just play discs, this unit will meet your needs! All software is included and is quite comprehensive. Can be a bit noisy with some discs, but not terrible. Be warned that this uses a dual USB-A plug, so you'll need 2 open ports on your computer to use it. Since I have ports on each side of the laptop, I just use a usb extension cable to connect the second usb plug. Kinda wish this model used USB-C, rather than micro-USB, though

This works very good.
My main purpose was to read Blu-ray discs, I read only reviews about DVDs, so I was hesitant about it.
Nevertheless, this worked just fine, speed is ok but if you're transmitting high bitrate video make sure your USB port in your computer can handle that speed.
Very portable totally recommend it.

Add a blu-ray optical drive to your laptop or PC

Add optical drive to your laptop or desktop PC. This plays Blu-Ray or DVD disks or records data to blank blu-ray or DVDs. Most laptops and desktops no longer have optical drives, so this fills that gap with a portable drive that is interchangeable between devices.

Bought this for use with my iMAC and it works great. Note the software inside the box is only for Windows so you will need to provide your own software. Leawo had a suite for about $100 that meets all the DVD/Blue Ray playing/burning/converting on Apple OS. It can extract a Blue ray in about 15 minutes so just what I was looking for. Highly recommend it. 5 stars would have been to also provide an apple OS version.

Nice compact size. Easy setup. Only possible downside is it needs two USB ports to connect it to a computer and may be an issue if the compurt it is being connected to doesn't have any or many free USB ports available. Nice software suite that comes with it.

My only complaint about this, is that you have to have at least two USB ports right next to each other on your computer in order for this to be usable. Or you can always buy a USB power strip, just with this price I would expect it to be a little more user friendly. Also, the fact that you seem to have to download and use only the cyberlink software is kind of an annoyance. Once you get it plugged in and everything installed it works really well, even on uneven surfaces.

Nice Drive, Old Software

I bought this drive because I just bought a Asus G751 and its DVD drive was DOA. I actually opened the drive and extracted and installed it in my Asus and it fit just perfectly,(it is a 9.5mm drive btw). So far the drive has worked great for me and have had no problems with the hardware. The software that is included though is hopelessly outdated, as of this review the newest version of PowerDVD is 15, what is included is PowerDVD 10... It works on Windows 8.1 but with Windows 10 around the corner I am worried that it will have issues.
Over all though, for 85 Dollars this is a steal.

Nice Blu-Ray drive for software & movies

The drive works great for watching movies, loading software that is on CD & writing DVDs. One small thing - the hole in the included CyberLink Media Suite CD (software for watching movies) is too small. I have to force it onto the drive's spindle or else the drive can't read it. I'm using different software to watch movies anyway.

We're glad to hear that the drive is working well for watching movies and other tasks. External Blu-ray drives get spotty performance reviews so I wasn’t sure which to buy. I’m partial to LG products so I went with this one. I purchased this drive to rip my Blu-ray library, and I’ve had no problems with its performance whatsoever. It comes with optional 3rd party video software that runs on Windows, not Mac. It runs on both PC and Mac platforms. It requires 2 side by side USB ports to run, one for power and one for data transfer, so if you want to use it on a newer a Mac you’ll likely need a hub. It’s all plastic so be sure to treat it as breakable.
