Reliable write speed. Played the recorded blueray video on a sony player and no issues at all.

My CD player, on my computer, gave out so I was not for sure about getting this but I am so glad I did. I works great!!!

This Blu-ray player is very durable and clean but a bit loud

Works better than an internal drive for ripping. After a firmware swap was able to rip UHD blurays easily as well

This device unlike another I purchased a few years ago do not need software to work. This was what I wanted and needed to help burn pictures.

The unit did what I expected....simple to use.....

Shopped for an external BR player for my laptop, saw good reviews on LG. The issues were multiple, starting with the fact that the software (Cyberlink) had to be upgraded right out of the box. For some reason that wasn't a straightforward matter, but once done, the unit either wouldn't register on the computer or if it did, didn't play the disk. After going back and forth troubleshooting on line, I consulted my IT coworker. Additional software was downloaded (Leawo) and additions to the VLC library. Leawo got it to play but only if the computer was online, which seemed unnecessary for a plug in unit. Ultimately I don't use it to play blu ray disks; it does well with dvds. My first choice was the Buffalo Industries BD player but ordering was a hassle. The problems could have originated with the laptop or the player, and other users had the same issues although most appeared to finally get it going. So it's not a total loss but disappointed nonetheless. I have to say no to recommending this unit not because it's junk but because it seems too unwieldy to get it to work.

It works as it should, and that is an honest evaluation, as far the units hard shell the tray is flimsy and should be handled carefully. You can hear it spin up but its works smoothly. I am happy with it but would like to have seen a firmer tray. I get no kick backs for any of my reviews. So you just have to weigh in the price and the quality to judge if they are in line. I personally expect a hardy tray in these but this is a slim line, a half of inch thick perhaps I am being too critical for it's size. You will have to be the judge about my complaint.

My built in does not do blu-ray and this fits the bill. Had some driver trouble but got it fixed quick.

This is the best player I have ever had and it does everything fantastically! If you get a chance pick one up. I recommend.

I use this on my PC mainly to watch Bluray movies. It's super simple to use and works great. You can plug it in to anything really.

This Blue ray has worked flawlessly. I bought this to transfer Blue-ray disc to my I-pad. It is working as intended. I have not burned any disc so I can not speak about that function.

The LG 8x external blue-ray disk double layered dvd +/- rw device is great for backing up large amounts of data. Bought it on sale at a good price.

I got this because I needed to play some Blue-ray disc. It works well and I haven't found anything it wouldn't play yet.

Great Blu-ray DVD player The one thing I would've appreciated knowing at time of purchase is it needs software to be able to function.
