Other than the very helpful LG customer service rep who basically told me I was on my own, it's been ok. Have not burned anything yet. Rips fine with third party software. Oh, you have to find it on your own, but once you find one it might work.....first three didn't. Using MacX DVD ripper.

Macs don’t play Blue-ray out the box so it would have been nice to have the Mac software. This is the second one that I bought because the first one stopped playing DVDs and only Blue-ray. But overall it works as one would expect a player to operate.

Cant figure how to work proper will read reg. disc

Then I put the same disc in my Xbox (purchased the Xbox after the external reader) and it works just fine. I might just be dumb, but otherwise it does work with regular discs.

But, the connecting USB cable between laptop and drive has a double USB connection on one end. My Elitebook doesn't have 2 USB ports on the same side of the laptop. Fortunately, the drive still works with only one of the USB connections on the drive cable plugged into the laptop. Does make it somewhat inconvenient to have the 2nd USB connection on the cable dangling when using the drive.
