    I priced the Apple Superdrive USB and this model. This one was HANDS DOWN the better deal. Cheaper, attractive, easy to use, and operates IDENTICALLY. BestBuy needs to more actively promote this item since all iMac models no longer come with built in superdrives

    DVDs and CDs are becoming obsolete except for those few nostalgic users who keep them around. Not to mention corporations/companies who still use them for transferring/submitting data. This external is perfect for on the go laptop users.

    The cdr works with my apple macbook pro, which is what I needed it for ,so I am happy with it so far. It looked like it had an aluminum case but only plastic.

    I especially like the portability and convenience of the player although I did have an issue when initially trying to play back a dvd. The Geek squad quickly resolved the issue and I have had no further problems.

    Good dvd driver to load programmes from disc to laptop, as newer laptops do not generally include built in dvd drives with the move to solid state technology.

    This is the only one that would work for my Dell laptop. It was well worth the money. I can watch DVDs. Transfer files to a CD and play CDs without any problems. Great product!

    Chose this one on recommendation from employee (one that sold me my new laptop) ... if Windows 8 doesn't play DVD movies I am not sure why employee didn't alert me of this issue. Is easy to set up, and is very light weight.

    Have only used the disk drive once since getting my new iMac, but seemed to work fine when I used it; still have some more music CD's to load into iTunes, so I will see how it goes, but so far, so good!

    With the new MacBook Air which no longer comes with a DVD drive, I still wanted the ability to play DVD's and CD's. This unit is perfect--great quality and compact size. Love it!

    The LG USB Ext. cd_rw delivers. It is easy to connect and get online in minutes. The speed is very good considering it is attached to my iMac usb 2.0 port.
