This is a light-weight, easy to use drive. It smoothly goes between Mac and PC. So far I've only used it to read CD/DVDs and am not sure about its writing capabilities.

After my other DVD Burner died, I was trying to find one at a good price but they were too pricey for me. Well, I found this on sale and it was a really good buy. I had DVD video projects to do for family and to preserve precious memories on DVD, Well, This did the trick. The included software is a basic version without the advanced features. It does have some useful features such as the Virtual Drive, something I did not expect. But if you want to play movies with it, there are plenty of free alternatives out there. This drive is pretty quiet and got what I needed to get done, done. It's a little more bulky in size than the previous slim model I own but built very well. I also got to install my games that I own on DVD again on my computer so it was a joy to get into those again. This is by far a great purchase made from Best Buy and LG makes really good products.

Since new computers no longer seem to have a built-in DVD+RW/CD-RW drive, I needed this in order to load old programs I own on CD to my new PC. Easy to use -- just plug it into a USB port. Works as intended!

I purchased this to burn some cd’s for myself and my grandson. It works perfect. It was easy to set up and get running. It’s a nice size and it’s quite light weight. Overall I’m very happy with it and would recommend it if your looking for something like this.

This LG external CD/DVD drive is very compact. It is perfect for laptops who don't have an integrated CD/DVD drive. It has a USB 2.0 connection and it has a maximum writing speed of 8x. It is plug and play and just perfect in size

Works precisely how I needed it to. The only struggle I had with it, was to get my desktop to recognize the disc in the player. Worked great with my laptop and allows me to get the work done with some dated resources!

I wanted a CD/DVD drive to use with my Asus Transfomer 2-1 netbook. I only had one USB, this drive only requires one available USB port. I checked mostly LG and chose the SP80NB80 based on positive reviews and bestbuy price. For me it was plug and play, but Windows 10 does not have a DVD player. I did not use the included software but chose to download free VLC Media Player and it works perfectly. I have played CDs and DVDs without any problems. Picture and Sound are perfect and the drive is quiet. I am very happy with my choice and would recommend to anyone looking for a portable external USB CD/DVD drive.

This is a perfect external DVD player for my laptop. Inexpensive and easy to use. Works perfectly as designed. Lightweight and compact.

Pleasantly surprised with how great this worked for the price!! Had to load software onto a computer that didn’t have a cd drive. Purchased this and it was plug and play. Super easy and worked great!

A nice inexpensive (as in cheap) DVD/CD drive. Easy to operate. Surprised at how small and light it is. Takes up very little space.

You get what you pay for. This unit is very light weight and somewhat flimsy. It can be difficult to get the disc in and out of the tray. Pushing the eject button can be an issue because the unit is so light. It is a two hand job. It has functioned well so far. It has played video and ripped audio and video to the computer. Doing this and playing media from the computer is a better option as there is a read lag playing from the disc drive.

Purchased this for importing CDs onto my 2020 iMac and it's perfect. I previously had the (overpriced) Apple Super Drive would randomly reject CDs and tell me they weren't recognized or would end up recording skipping/crackling artifacts onto the audio tracks. It was also super loud. This LG is the complete opposite. It's positioned at a fair price, super quiet, sleek, imports CDs quickly and I am amazed at how it is able to import some of my CDs and render over any little scratches that would play as skipping noises on the Apple CD Drive previously mentioned. The only con I can think of with the LG is that it does seem to pick up fingerprints easily but nothing that can't be wiped off. Very happy!

Works exactly as advertised and for a fair price. Idiot-proof plug and play. Needed one to record some old DVDs before donating. Will keep it handy just in case I come across any more during my stay-at-home reorganizing frenzy.
