The laptop manufacturers have determined that we really don't need optical drives anymore, and besides, they can make the laptops really thin since they don't need to put the drive in. BUT I still have hundreds of CDs and DVDs that need to be accessed once in a while. This LG External Drive came to the rescue. It's as thin as it could possibly be, it's light, and it works.

While I miss having an internal CD drive in my desktop, this LG was a great companion purchase with my new HP tower. Thanks to a special bundle price from Best Buy, I have used this new drive a great deal during the new tower setup and later with other CD data. It's fast and quiet - a great product.

in the days of computers no longer having such a drive, this was an inexpensive option. Its easy with plug-in-play set up. Simply wanted to digitize my CD collection, and with a USB 3.0 connection, transfer was a breeze. Cant beat the price. Cheaper that installing a drive in a desktop. Plus I can use it with my laptop if needed.

This is one excellent unit which is very reasonable priced. Small and thin in size which doesn't take-up much space. This LG unit works flawlessly, and it is as quiet as a mouse! For the small price of this LG USB Double-Layer DVD+RW/CD Drive, it is definitely worth every penny. If your looking for a external DVD Drive for your Laptop or home computer, this will definitely work for you without breaking your wallet.

New laptops do not have CD RW drive for quite a few years already and yet I still have a need for CD drives. This could not be easier. I plug it in and I use it. That simple. I use it to install programing like Norton and TurboTax. The price was not bad on this either. Highly recommend.

I haven't had the need to use the drive that much since purchase, but every time I have needed it, it worked fine. This is a good little External drive since most computers today do not come with an optical drive as standard.

I needed this asyblaptop does not have a built in CD/DVD player. I found this to be a easy plug and play option. I have had no issues at all with this device.

Computer I bought was an all-in-one, so it didn't have a CD/DVD drive. I guess I'm old school, still using CDs & DVDs, but this added item took care of that issue.

small format but helpful if a dvd drive is needed. since many laptops and computers now do not include dvd drives the ability to easily plug and play with an external dvd drive like this LG drive is helpful and at a low cost. seems well made.

External drive works well also. My hobby is making greeting cards on my computer, so the drive was needed in order to use the print software.
