While we were surprised to realize that new laptops do not come with CD drives, this adjunct was a very nice purchase. Reasonably priced, easy to use, and fulfills what we need.

good speed, plug and play, worked perfectly, fit my laptop and excellent

Most of the very thin new laptops don't have dvd/cd players. I still have embroidery sewing patterns on cd's and needed to load these into my new laptop then to my sewing machine. This drive is a little on the light side and I must be very careful when I place the cd into the ejection rack, which is why I gave it only 4 stars. So far, it reads all the files on the cds perfectly. I've not written with it yet, so can't give feedback on that. It's very thin and can easily fit in a case for transport with the laptop.

I bought this DVD drive for a new laptop I purchased. It works better than I expect, and allowed me to load several programs on DVD that I had used on my ols computer.

In a world of no more CD players, I had to convert all of my CD's... This item came in clutch... Thank you...

Extremely lightweight, compact drive; requires only one USB port for power, very quiet operation. Seems to be robustly built, has had no problems with reading either data DVD's or movie DVDs. Have not tested using it to burn CDs or DVDs yet as I haven't had a reason to do so in the time I've owned it.

This disc drive is compact and easy to use. I just plugged it into my MacBook and it worked. I did not have to hunt down a driver online. I was impressed with how much faster this drive could import songs to the Music app than my last one. I have seen some external disc drives take up two USB ports, one to power it and one to transfer data. This one just needs one port. It includes a micro USB to USB-A cable to connect it to your computer.

desktop had no disc reader, this does the job at reasonable price.

Wow, an amazing and efficient little engine! This read write unit from LG is great; a life saver. Takes up very little space. PC read/write started putting blemishes on my discs; this little thing makes perfect burned CDs or DVDs. Buy!

I got a new computer this year and forgot it didn't have a DVD drive, but I got reminded of it when doing my taxes. The clerk at Best Buy said I had to download some software from LG before I could use this. That was not the case, it's simply plug and play. I thought it would be slow, but that was not the case, either. I think it's faster than an internal. Anyway, great buy for the value.

Hey, a CD-buner and player still comes in handy for a variety of reasons, even in this streaming universe we live in. It was easy to set up with various types of computers and laptops.

This drive is slim and efficient. Self installs and easy to use, with a quick write speed.

I'm very happy with this dvd player, downloaded an app on the computer that works great with it to play movies! Would highly recommend!

Quickly connects via usb. Has read a few cds and a DVD, have not burned a CD/DVD yet. Excellent price.

Great DVD player at a great price! I have a few instructional golf DVDs that I haven't used in years, and the small size of this unit makes it easy to set it up in the garage and actually practice while watching. Pretty cool.

Simply does the job and inexpensive to boot. Very impressed with what I got for the price. Like most laptops these days my new one had no CD drive. I use it primarily to rip my own music CDs to a flash so I can listen in the car. It has operated flawlessly.
