    I had some HDMI connection issues with this bar. However, my usage of this product was less common that most. I was using this in my bedroom and after the sleep timer shut off the tv at night it would lose its connection when I tried to turn on the TV next day. My Apple TV remote wouldn't turn it on after this happened as it did with every other sound bar I tested. At this point I had to turn it on manually with the LG remote and keep changing the inputs back and forth until it finally reconnected. Forth this I would have to deduct a star. The real problem is LG's reliance on Google Assistant for updates, settings, etc.. This makes me uncomfortable. You can mute the Google Assistant, and the screen will turn orange. It will stay this way most of the time. Then later you walk in and it has un-muted itself. I don't trust Google one bit. Please note that as soon as you try to run the first update through Google Assistant that's it. It can't be defeated. You have to mute and hope it stays that way. Not to mention it will randomly remind you "Your device is muted!" JUST MAKE IT GOOGLE COMPATIBLE, DON'T ADD A MICROPHONE OR RELY ON THE GOOGLE APP, LG!!! It's really disappointing because this was easily the best sounding of the sound bars I tested in the 400-700 range. I was blown away the first time I tested it out. Fix the HDMI and ditch Google and this would get six stars.

    Great LG bar - too bad it uses Google Home

    Paired this bar with 65" LG C8. I did not need a bigger bar as SL8YG delivers plenty of volume and effects for my medium room. Good - good sound, various modes and speaker adjustments. Powerful sub woofer - perfect for a small to medium room. Bad - Google Home. If you are ok with soundbar waking you up every night at 2:00AM and telling you that your microphone is muted and how to un-mute it, by all means go for it. And the reminder is loud! And yes, I tried all possible google home settings for the device (night mode, lowering the volume for night mode, disabling notifications, etc.) Nothing helps, bar keeps reminding with the loudest volume that mic is muted. I guess I can leave mic un-muted but I do not want to. I do not want bar to be listening when I do not need it to. The only solution for now is to not forget to unplug soundbar's power for the night... Frustrating. Other than that it could have been a great bar.
