Customers value the CordZero Cordless Stick Vacuum's powerful suction, long battery life, and lightweight design, making it easy to use and maneuver. Many appreciate its quiet operation and effective performance on various floor types, along with the convenient attachments. While some find the dustbin size to be a minor limitation, requiring more frequent emptying, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive.

I love this vacuum. Was sick of having to deal with a heavy wired vacuum. Most people moved on to these battery ones and of course, I had my doubts. After much research, I came across this LG and it was one of my best purchases yet from Best Buy.

Very good vacuum because it is very light and handy. Also powerful despite its small size. The only disadvantage is battery power is not standing long enough to finish my floor clean, however, an extra battery pack is good to cover the rest of the cleaning work.

So far, so good! Small house with 1xcat 1xdog. Owned one stick vacuum prior by Shark and it was terrible so i was hesitant. I'm about to put my ol' reliable in storage as this seems to do just as good if not better.

Love this new sweeper. Far better than a Dyson. Two long lasting batteries...each up to an hour depending on the speed. Great on carpet and hardwood. Like the storage stand too. I would highly recomment

Great vacuum with extra battery. Never had issue with battery running out. Only issue I see is the filters are quite expensive to replace and there is more than one of them.

I have 2 German shepherd dogs, and use this at least every other day. Very versatile and easy to use. It's lightweight and won't wear out your muscles quickly. Makes light work out of stairs.

Pros:
Decent suction on its "normal" mode. Built-in compartment for the extra battery is nice. Lightweight and has plenty of battery power to do something tedious like the stairs.
Cons:
The stand is a little awkward to put the vacuum back into after use because you have to lower to its shortest setting to fit. Hard to tell turbo mode(s) do much more than normal mode. The height of the ground is a bit too low because some small items, like cheerios, don't always fit under the roller to get picked up without lifting up the vacuum.
Indifferent:
The extra battery was overkill for our house and daily use. We use this on one or two rooms tops, so never run one battery all the way down.

So far this thing is great. I have no complaints. Great warranty for the motor. It does suck that battery life isn’t super great but being able to have two batteries helps with that. Obviously you have to do your due diligence and maintain the vacuum and not just pick up whatever is around. A lot of people complain about clogging from what I’ve been seeing but if you clean the filters and keep it in good shape I don’t think that should be a problem. So far I’m not sure what the bad reviews are about and what they’re doing to ruin their vacuums but so far I’m super happy

TL;DR: The model A916 of LG’s CordZero A9 stick vacuum line provides ample suction for tough jobs and usable run time among the top features of this entry-level vacuum. It’s an ideal main vacuum for a 700-1800 sq ft apartment or home (or as a quick clean-up tool in any size home) that has mostly carpet or tile flooring. This bundle does not include a dedicated soft hard wood roller and I hesitant to use a stiff bristled “universal” nozzle on wood floors. LG does have other A9 bundles with the soft hardwood floor nozzle so if you have hardwood look for one of those. The included two removable batteries is a rare find at this level and is a major “added-value.” The A916 is uncomplicated to use requiring just one button tap to increase or decrease suction power.
Full Review:
Many consumer products come in “good,” “better,” “best” to help simplify the buying process. Each higher tier model adds to the features of the lower model. LG appears to market its stick vacuums this way as well with three lines: the CordZero A9 (Good), CordZero Kompressor (Better), and then the “plain” CordZero (Best). Unfortunately, once you jump this hurdle the buying decision options get more complicated because the CordZero A9, the line I’m reviewing, comes in multiple accessory bundles, designated by the last two digits of the full model number. I’ll try to untangle this for you.
This review is for the CordZero A916, with “A9” the model and “16” the bundle ID. (Technically, the model is A916BM, but BM only indicates its color, “black matte”). But it’s also loosely about the CordZero A9 line generally because no matter which CordZero A9 bundle you choose, the top notch suction power and operation for all of them is identical. The only differences from one model CordZero A9 to another are the included accessories, sometimes the color and whether it works with LG’s app ThinQ. (The A916 is not ThinQ compatible).
In the A916 box you find two batteries (I’ll comment on this major differentiator in more depth later), a dock with integrated dual battery charger, floor stand, “universal” power nozzle, mini power nozzle for pet hair (specifically not for use on hardwood), and two washable pre-filters (but not durable enough for an unlimited number of times).
LG says the “universal” roller works on any type flooring, however, I’m hesitant to test that because one side of this roller has stiff bristles, and also, LG makes a soft roller specifically for hardwood floors. This roller is available in other CordZero bundles so if your home has hardwoods you might want to look for one of those models. The A916, though, is a great fit for anyone living in a 700-1800 sq ft apartment or home with flooring like rugs, carpet and tile.
Operating the CordZero A9 is uncomplicated. The control panel has just three buttons, one for power, lower suction (“-“) and increase suction (“+”). There are also three suction levels – normal, high, and turbo. The A916 starts on “normal”. From there tap “+” for “high” and then hold “+” again for 3 seconds for “turbo”. To illustrate the power of each level, on “normal” the suction grabs the palm of my hand’s skin but it’s no effort for me to break away. At “high” I have to use a bit of force, and at “turbo” the suction is almost strong enough to hold itself on my palm.
Many other stick vacuums have a finger trigger rather than a power button. Having used both styles I personally prefer the trigger so I can go floor to floor without continually pressing the power button. With a trigger, release and it’s off. But really, how a vacuum turns on and off is not a top buying factor regardless. Above all the question is – does it clean well and fast.
Since I don’t have the hardwood nozzle I only use the A916 on carpeted areas, tile, and area rugs. I find “normal” does the job “90%” of the time. It easily picks up dust and small debris without repeat sweeps. For context, all my carpets and rugs are of the low loop pile kind. If you have deep cut pile carpet “high” level could be your default. I only use “high” for larger items, like packaging or food scraps or a kitchen disaster like spilled flour. And turbo is for stubborn cobwebs, heavy scraps like cereal or the messiest “emergency” situations. Use that one only briefly as it’s a battery killer.
Let’s talk about batteries. Battery life has many variables here based on 1) attachment used -- the carpet and mini nozzles (and any other powered attachment) will deplete the battery faster than the non-powered ones like the crevice or combination tool. And 2) combination of suction levels used and for how long.
As mentioned, this bundle includes two batteries, which is a tremendous value for an entry level stick vacuum. The A916’s box advertises “up to 100-minutes,” of run time with an asterisk: when used with non-powered tools. Of course any good house cleaning requires the powered roller more than the crevice or combination tool plus some use of “high” and “turbo” levels. Realistically that combination provides about an hour of run time. While an hour is 40% less than 100-minutes, it’s still plenty of time for 700-1800 sq ft. and certainly a quick clean anywhere.
The run time here also isn’t the complete story. What sets the A916 apart from competitors are the two included removable batteries, a feature usually only available in higher end models of other brands. Most of those competing brand’s entry level models have a single “permanent” battery, removable only with a screwdriver, if at all. When power fades in those vacuums, go find something else to do for a few hours. Hopefully you aren’t expecting guests. In contrast, the A916’s dual batteries let you finish the job. If you were wondering about charge time, the batteries take about 3 hours. Both batteries can be charged simultaneously in this time.
A built-in battery meter on the vacuum helps you keep track of approximate run time left. Three white indicators lights illuminate when the battery is full. As you vacuum they extinguish, one by one. When the battery is near kaput the final light blinks indicating about 5 minutes of “normal” suction is left. This type of light-based battery meter is standard on entry level stick vacuums in general and it works fine here.
Pushing the A916 around a room has a good feel; perfect heft and control, but not so heavy it feels like pushing an elephant. It maneuvers effortlessly around sofa, table, and bed feet, and is excellent at the limbo too – easily sliding under hard-to-reach areas like beds where dust loves to hide. Also unique (I think) to LG stick vacuums is the ability to adjust the height of the main extension tube – at least I’ve never encountered this feature before. It offers a more personal fit that fixed tubes cannot. It’s also handy when vacuuming stairs, drapes or blinds to get the proper angle.
Like other stick vacuums, the A916 can be used as a handheld vacuum for easy cleaning of cars, boats, and such where using the main extension tube would be awkward or impossible. All the included nozzles and attachments work in handheld “mode” too.
The A916’s noise level is typical for a vacuum. On “normal,” I measured an average of 70 dB directly behind the vacuum. For people four feet away from the vacuum it drops to 60 dB, and on the floor below where it’s being used in an open floorplan home, it goes down to 50 dB. For the higher suction levels I measured an average 80 dB on “high” and 86 dB on “turbo” directly behind the vacuum.
Gross weight is not an issue here and the weight distribution is even too, not top heavy. The vacuum + stick + carpet nozzle weights is in the 5lb range so on the light side of average for stick vacuums. I’m an average middle-ager and it was no effort to go up multiple flights of stairs with the vacuum.
One of the unique features of the A916 bundle, compared to its competition, is the included free-standing dock that also charges the 2nd battery. The dock can be screwed to the wall too if that is your preference. Competing stick vacuums in this segment typically only come with a screw-in dock which is useless for people unable (or unwilling) to drill holes in their walls. That also makes storing a stick vacuum frustrating since it can’t stand on its own like a traditional vacuum.
One difference, however, between competitor’s docks and LG’s is that LG’s doubles as the battery charger. There is no way to charge the A916 without it. The downside of this is that it limits portability and versatility if, say, you wanted to take it on a long road trip to keep the car clean. Other brands have the charging port in the vacuum rather than the dock allowing you to take the vacuum and charger and leave the dock at home.
Staying with the dock, the storage compartment for the non-powered attachments, like the crevice tool, is here rather than on the vacuum itself. The “better” and “best” LG stick vacuums do have a storage clip on the stick so it’s odd LG omitted this for the basic A9s. In terms of workflow, this missing holder on the vacuum itself means you must carry around these attachments separately while cleaning. That doesn’t make for the best user experience especially if you have multiple floors. Perhaps it’s not as big of a burden for a single level home or apartment.
Another differentiator between the “good” CordZero A9 and the “better” Kompressor model is how the dust bin is emptied. Where the A916 relies on gravity and shaking the canister, the Kompressor’s bin has a lever that will push stubborn debris out. For the A916, when dust and debris get caught up in the collection bin the removal options are using a finger or a pen to loosen the debris or to free the debris by twisting off the cyclonic mesh filter. Either way you are likely getting a taste of dust. I’m not sure why the Kompressor’s lever isn’t a standard feature on the basic A9 too. No one wants to get near the debris they just removed from their home. This is the one aspect w
