I bought the phone outright for $400. The G6 is coming out soon, but the G5 just got an upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat and it still has specs comparable or better to phones being released in 2017. The Snapdragon 820 with 4GB of RAM is perfect and the 16 Megapixel camera with 2160P recording capability is fantastic! This phone is modular and designed to easily let you swap the battery for a spare. Best Buy had an online special when I ordered, so it came with a free spare modular battery and an extra charging dock for the batteries as well. The battery itself lasts me almost all day. From snapping random pics for Google Maps to playing Pokemon Go randomly throughout the day. The phone also charges through a v3.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector and sports USB On-The-Go (OTG), so I can plug in thumb drives to access my data for work on the go or fast charge the battery to over 80% in thirty minutes. It also supports keyboards certain hard disk drive, a mouse and various other peripherals via USB or Bluetooth. The calls are Crystal clear and it supports Wi-Fi calling for a better, clearer phone call experience. 10/10 would but LG again!

I have now had this phone for a few weeks. I have had a very good opportunity to fully check it out. Here are my thoughts. I have not tried any of the modular accessories, so I can not comment on them. I am totally sold on the "knock knock". Coolest way to get into your phone ever. You can even set up a "knock knock code" for unlocking your phone. The "knock knock" is basically just double tapping the LG's screen when it is asleep, and it wakes up. It also works in reverse. Simply double tap the screen (away from your apps) and it will put the phone to sleep. So efficient and easy. Fingerprint sensor is flawless. I just love it. The fit and finish are very good, considering the entire bottom of the phone comes off. Great to have a phone I can replace the battery. I also love having an SD slot for extra memory. I moved over my SD card and it worked great. The fit in my hand is terrific. My last phone was slightly wider, and it was very difficult to use with only one hand. This phone is perfect for one handed use. It might be a bit big for women to use one handed, but I would think that would be true with nearly all cell phones over 5". The screen is very clear and has wonderful color. The camera takes great pix. I love the selfie cam and front cam. Both work great. I love being able to say "kimchi" and the selfie cam takes a selfie. My nieces and nephews think it is the coolest thing ever. This phone fits inside my pant pockets and shirt pockets so much better than my bulky previous phone. Thumbs up to Best Buy for getting the LG G5 unlocked, even for Verizon! And for having a very competitive price on it. I have already bought a bunch of super cool accessories for it. I love the new "C" usb charging cable and the fast charger. It also recharges wirelessly, but I have not purchased that accessory yet. Bluetooth is super fast. I downloaded the LG transfer app to my old phone from the Play Store, and all the info on my old phone moved over to my LG, Soooooo easy and fast. WiFi is screaming fast and connects to the latest standards. Love it. My old phone did not have "Smart Cleaning" on it. I use that a lot to keep my phone from getting clogged with unwanted files. The G5 is smooth. It transitions fast and smooth from task to task. Running multiple windows are not an issue. Running multiple apps have not been an issue either. I must tell you about what I DID NOT like about the phone as well. First of all, I had to run down to the Verizon Store to get a new SIM card. The G5 takes a Nano SIM Card, and mine had the old style. Luckily there was no fee or charge for the Verizon Store associate to get me a Nano SIM Card and get me up and running. This was actually an inconvenience, not something I did not like. Battery life is only okay. I am not a heavy user and it will last me a bit more than a day. It is okay for me, but if I was a heavy user, I would be owning a spare battery I think. I was hoping I could purchase a waterproof case that is an actual case, not a glorified zip lock bag. I have not found a true waterproof and shockproof, all in one, case. So now I own a shockproof case and a separate waterproof case that looks like a glorified zip lock bag. Oh well. These are for sure not deal breakers, and honestly, I really don't mind that much. To sum it up, this has been a great experience so far. I have been telling everyone how much I enjoy this phone. It feels very "Premium" in my hands, and when I use it. If you are wanting a last generation phone, for a great price, this phone should be at the top of your list.

I had the LG G3 and loved it, then tried the V10-only complaint there was the battery life being poorly matched to the features on the device. After going through a terrible experience with the Samsung S7 Active and trying out the Moto Z Play I came around to this device and gave it a shot. I am so glad I did, I truly love this phone and the features, while not necessarily ambitious, are high quality and dependable. The camera quality is very nice and the colors are beautiful. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

After my 3 months used brand new phone accidentally gone, I was desperately needed an affordable phone which can fulfill my all requirements. This phone had most of the cutting edge tech similar to flagship phone but in much cheaper range. Thumbs Up: 1. Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Processor (Blazing Fast) 2. 4 GB RAM (Smoother operation) 3. Dual Rear Cameras - 16 MP Standard Angle & 8 MP 135 degree Wide Angle Lens (Excellent Photo Quality), 8 MP super selfie 4. Micro SD card supported, 3.5 mm headphone jack, NFC, Bluetooth all embedded (Convenient Usage) 5. 5.3" IPS Quantum QHD Display with QHD resolution (2560 X 1440) (Glorious Screen and display) 6. Easy Replaceable battery with fast quick charger in the box (Removable battery added bonus) 7. Modular unique metal body design 8. Fingerprint sensor, 8X Zoom with Always ON display feature 9. Tons of camera mode and features to make photos lively, crisp and vivid (Excellent Camera photo quality) 10. Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box for smoother software experience. 11. Universal Unlocked, supports almost all bands across major countries. (Complete peace of mind) 12. GSM or CDMA both network supported (wider options) 13. Plenty of Smart Enhanced settings for ease of use and convenience. Thumbs Down: ----------------- 1. No Water Resistant although hardly any other phone at this price range provides this. All of these flagship features are coming within 230$ only. I can't ask more comparing the price I have paid. It's all win here.. My effort hours and much research before deciding this phone finally paid off. I am highly satisfied and happy with this Phone.

Great phone with good camera and removable battery

I bought this a few weeks ago and and wanted to wait a little bit before posting my review. I am coming from a ATT S5 Active. It was running out of memory because many apps will not let you move them to the SD card. I was also disappointed that it was unlikely to get an upgrade to Marshmallow so I wanted an unlocked phone. People said that LG is very quick in getting out updates. Even though I still have 6 months on the contract, I needed more memory and 32gb seems enough internal memory for me with the microSD card for extra files/apps that can be moved to the SD card. I like the replaceable battery which the Samsung S7 did not have. The S7 has slightly better pictures in low light, but in daylight both do well and I have two real cameras that do better in low light. The wide angle lens will also come in useful. I am glad that my phone did not have the backlight bleed issue of some early T Mobile G5s. The processor is super fast. The battery life seems to be better than reviews I saw online. I use Greenify to decrease battery usage by background apps. Streaming online video for 30 minutes used about 7% battery life for an estimate of about about 6.5 hours to drain the battery from 100% down to 9%. This is without any other apps running in the background. Looking at reviews online and compared to my S5 Active, the AMOLED seems brighter, but the IPS screen is still bright enough for me. Even though it is carrier unlocked, the bootloader is locked. I just hope that there will eventually be a way to unlock it similar to the T Mobile and European versions. I am sure I would have liked the S7 also, but I feel more assured that when the battery starts to get weak in 2 years or so, I can just replace the battery.

It was not my plan to get a new phone until those technicians in a third-party store malfunctioned the SIM card reader of my great Nexus 5 while fixing the power button several months ago (well, thank you, so now I have a great Nexus 5 that can do everything but making a phone call). I had to get a new phone, as soon as possible, even though I knew that quite a few new models were rolling out right after MWC but I couldn't wait. I am always not a big fan of those "fancy" (aka overpriced) phones like iPhone or Galaxy S#, and just want one that is reliable and endurable that gets the job done, like my old Nexus 5. I then realized this LG G5, a used-to-be flagship of LG more than a year ago, was undergoing a then non-negligible (and now amazing) discount ($400 when I got it and now $300), for two reasons: first, the next generation G6 was about to be on the market after MWC; and second, the modular design including swappable batteries was considered stupid both by the majority and even LG itself. Hey, but this was indeed a flagship model: metalic body, fantastic dual rear cameras, 2K screen, top-tier (though not literally the best) processers, Type-C port, fingerprint reader... It was definitely a great deal. Plus, I got an extra battery and a very slick portable charger. (not sure whether it is included now or not.) The downside? LG was bragging about its extendibility because of its modular design such as a camera accessary and such. Well, nobody uses those features (and hence the discounts), and most importantly, the battery capacity has to be compromised for the modular design and there is no way LG can make the phone waterproof while flagships by others are waterproof. (And LG did realize its stupidity so the battery of G6 cannot be swapped.) Of course, for those Nexus users like me, I have to deal with the built-in bloatware, not as pleasant as the original Google experience especially I was really enjoying my Nexus 5 but had to give it up. It took me some time to get used to a phone without Google Now but it is fine now. Another downside, you won't get Android update as soon as it is released. But all these are compared to the Nexus experience, and it should be comparable to other Android phones, but unfortunately I have never owned a smart phone not manufactured by LG so I cannot say too much about the software experience (well, Nexus 5 was also by LG). I don't play games on cell, and so far I have never seen my phone freezing. I do clean up the memory or power off the phone once a month or so. I believe that it is more enough for daily browsing, social networks, emails, mobile banking, online shopping, etc.. I usually charges my phone daily or bi-daily (daily is like I listen to music all day or uses camera or Google Maps too often on a trip). The battery is not huge in capacity but enough for productivity activities. So if you value daily uses than state-of-the-art "black-magic" and don't mind getting an old model, this is a serious option to consider. Do take care of it as there might not be many spare parts available like screens should you break it.

I really like this phone, it has all the performance and features I was looking for without breaking my bank. The phone is fast and had about 4-5 updates when I first turned it on, It seems that LG is good on updating phone's security and Android in general. phone calls are clear and crisp, and the Speakers are loud. I haven't changed any audio volume setting because of factory settings already loud an sound excellent. I did also Purchase and OtterBox, a Samsung 850 EVO plus MicroSD card for the phone to store additional videos and pictures. This phone is just the right size for me, Screen is easy on eyes and colors are great. Features on the Phone Really make this a great purchase for me, I Leave my phone and hardly ever shut it off. Battery lasts a long time, I got on 24 hrs standby with some light browsing, a few background apps, and several phone call for less than ten minutes and the phone was at 69%. I like that it's a world phone as well, I have the option to change carriers.

This phone excels in a few areas and is on par with much more expensive phones in every other area. The cameras are fantastic, they take very detailed photos and having a wide angle camera is a nice addition when taking landscapes. The pop out technique is a little gimmicky but fun sometimes. The responsiveness is awesome, I thought it may not be as quick as an octa core phone but it is just as good. It may be the extra memory that helps it work just as well. You can update it to android 7 nougat as soon as you connect it to the internet. This phone can ruin multiple apps at the same time without any noticeable lag, and doing so is easy with split screen. Being able to remove the battery and replace it is an awesome advantage, since you can replace the battery when it's near the end of its useable life and not holding a charge to well. This may be a previous generation phone but it is still excellent, its nicer than many mid range phones and on par with many of the high end phones today. I do not regret this purchase one bit, an excellent mobile phone.

A Bargain of an Android Smartphone

There is no better value for your money in an Android smartphone than the LG G5 right now! $250!!! In a new era of $850-999 phones, this is a deal that can't be beaten. With the flagship processor of 2016 and early 2017, it's speed is uncompromised, still ranking 25th in major benchmarks including phones such as the Galaxy S8 and iPhone. New phones in this price range such as the Moto G5s Plus lag far behind. The dual camera set up on the LG G5 is superior. The second lens is wide-angle which is much more useful than an additional monochrome lens or a paltry 2x zoom lens. Whatsmore the primary lens is optically stabilized, reducing blur significantly better than software solutions. Not to mention it is an aesthetically beautiful phone without the plastic antenna lines of others. Be unique! Be different. Buy a phone that was underrated in its time but continues to perform. It is speculated that this phone will receive an Android Oreo upgrade as well. LG. Life is Good!

I have had Samsung smart phones for the previous 5 years including Note 4, Note 5 and S7 models. This is my first LG phone and I did alot of research on the model G5 before purchasing this phone. I love that it is an unlocked phone that will work on just about any network. Everything else about this phone is outstanding, the 2nd wide angle camera is one of the best features. I love this phone better than any of the previous Samsung models I owned. I can't believe the finger print scanner for locking the phone actually works perfectly. I could never get the finger print scanner for locking the phone to work on any of the Samsung models I previously owned. Lastly this phone is such a great phone and at a fantastic price point my daughter just ordered one from Best Buy and can't wait untill it gets delivered tomorrow!

I purchased this phone through At&t when it first came out. About 5-6months of having it I left it in my shorts pocket and went into the pool. Needless to say I tried my best to dry it out. It dried out for a couple of days of rice/ oven on low and setting out in the sun. The screen had some water bubbles. Since the water incident the GPS and cell was a little flaky and the front camera was fuzzy, but everything else seem to work fine. I let this go on for a while before I couldn't take not being able to use the GPS, reliably. I went and bought a brand new, "unlocked" @ BB for 280. I really like this phone to buy it twice. Camera, processing power, storage, battery are all great options on this phone. I bought a 128Gig SD card right after I purchased and I'm so glad I did. I store all the pics/vids/ and music. Can't go wrong with this phone and now I'm really glad that I can use my GPS again.

Before this phone, I had a Samsung Galaxy S5 and I thought I'd be disappointed when switching to an LG, but I was pleasantly surprised. The camera quality is better and the processor is way faster. The phone has no issues quickly switching through apps and crashes are rare and usually on the app end, rather than the phone end. The battery life lasts me pretty much the entire day and the screen's brightness and colors are great. The speakers get decently loud and I haven't had any issues with sound quality. Overall, I love this phone. It seems like it'd be fragile and break when dropped, so I bought an Otterbox case for it. I've dropped it a few times since then, but the phone is protected. No matter what case you go with, you should definitely get one because of how thin this phone is.

The specs of the Lg G5 rivals that of the S7 and Note 5 but a $100 more affordable. Great clean dual camera for wide-angle shots, metal casing, fast charging, lasting battery life and amazing display. Having the fingerprint sensor at the back is actually more user friendly. As someone who likes to journal i find QuickMemo is more handy than S Memo imo. Best Buy delivery was a day late but it was worth the extra wait Con: not IP68 water and dust resistant but I bought a protective case.

Pros - Beautiful QHD Screen 4 Gigs of Ram/32 gigs of storage Android 7.0 (coming May 2017) Fingerprint Scanner LG G5 Friends Beautiful Wide Angle Dual Rear Camera Con - Battery Life Other than the batter life (I'm a heavy user) and the fact that Android 7.0 will not be rolled out until May of 2017 for this unlocked device, it's near perfect! The LG G5 is the previous generation and since I don't use all the bells and whistles, I don't miss the latest frill. The phone is fast, has great memory storage capability, extra clear screen, and probably most important, is UNLOCKED, enabling me to use service providers that are most competitive at the time. Oh yes, the cost is less than half of the cost of the most recent phone model release. I'm only glad everyone does not think like me, providing me with First Class service at a Coach price.

I think overall this is the best phone on the market. You can still buy replacement batteries to easily swap out, expand the memory, and the speaker quality is fantastic. I was coveting this phone for quite some time, but waited til the price dropped. My old iphone couldnt expand the memory, and the battery life was shotty. This purchase was money well spent.

My wife's 2 year old Samsung Galaxy 5 died suddenly for no apparent reason despite never being abused and since I didn't want to give any carrier a 2 -3 year contract just so I could overpay for a phone (no real deals there for sure) I looked around for an unlocked phone and found this deal at Best Buy on the LG-G5. Solid phone, great cameras (my wife loves taking pictures), and does everything you'd expect from a smart phone at a very reasonable price.

I needed to purchase a new phone, because the battery on my old phone wasn't lasting an hour, and of course it was not removable. I looked online for a good phone at a good price, and decided on the LG G5. I was a little weary about purchasing it at first because I had 2 LG G4's and the battery life was pathetic. WOW what an upgrade this phone is, battery life is awesome on the G5. Picture quality is great, it's super fast and does anything I need. Also the battery is EASILY replaceable if need be, or if you just want to swap out a battery instead of plugging it int.
