A great phone except for a few things

When this phone first came out, and I saw people saying many positive things about it, I thought it was great. I never really listened to the whole there is not much innovation here story that some reviewers put out there. Yet, now some time has gone by and we now have some new information that needs to be provided so people know what it is that they are buying 1. We have to take off a whole star because LG decided to use permanent glue to glue the battery to the phone. This decision makes it almost impossible for any phone repair person to change the battery for you, without endangering himself (break the battery or have it explode). It is superglue almost. This becomes a problem if after 2 to 3 years you want a new battery. If you never change the battery ignore this. 2. We have to take off another point because of the awkward speaker setup where you get one speaker at the bottom and a second speaker which is vibrating through the screen, in the middle of the screen. This has confused a lot of people as they don't know how to properly hold this phone, and they don't know where the sound is coming from. Some have also said when they talk on the speaker phone, people on the other side say I can't hear you. Some have also complained speaker not as good as last year's lg g7--you can see vidoes about that on YouTube. Aside from these 2 issues you have your standard LG stuff-hardly any software updates, and in the past few years their phones have had screen problems--that is why you get a 2 year warranty now on the hardware. No one said anything about screen problems this year thank God. I would still recommend this phone-everything else is great. reviews are good, screen is nice, battery life is nice they say, face unlock is there; there is just a lot of good things here, and the price on some websites has now dropped significantly--but when you go to buy it right now, put it side by side with last year's Samsung S9+...they are about the same price right now. And then you decide.

These phone reviewers are very very jaded they find things gimmicky that are new and exciting ideas and they slam these phones if they're not iPhones or Samsung this is a great phone with a great operating system I've had Samsung's to be honest never had an iPhone this is a phenomenal phone one of my favorites. Found my Samsung's to be very glitchy the LG phones that I've had are not glitchy and have been some of my favorite phones the last phone I had from LG was in LG G3 and I went to a Samsung phone next because of the price and did not enjoy it as much. If you're buying any of these top-of-the-line phones you're going to be happy he's reviewers just rip these phones apart for personal preferences it's just that it's their own personal preference if you buy a top-of-the-line LG top of the line Samsung or top-of-the-line iPhone you're going to be super happy with your purchase. I did get my LG phone at a drastically reduced price the funny thing is I was going to buy it anyway I got it for $240 through Best Buy so I even added a line and got another one thanks Best Buy great phone even comes with a two-year warranty

I decided that I wanted a phone that didn't cost in the thousand dollar range and the LG G8 does just that with little compromise. Its fast, light, has a nearly all screen design with a minimal notch cut out and excellent audio quality. While the camera quality is not the best out there, they are still pretty good and I love the wide-angle lens! The default launcher is not the best but there are third-party ones available that improve this area. The screen is great and bright. The notch is smaller than similar ones out there, and I defiantly prefer it to punch-hole displays. Ok, the audio quality. The speaker sounds great. The sounds are nice and clear, the sound speaker setup is very impressive. By laying the phone flat on a table, the boombox speaker can use the phone's sound chamber with the surface of the table to amplify the volume and bass! Without that though, it might sound a little weaker than other devices. The real standout feature I think is the Quad DAC and DTS:X Surround sound. You'll have to give up wireless headphones for this but if your after the best audio quality in a phone, it's well worth it!

Great phone with one of the best screens I've ever seen along with one of the better sounding speakers I've heard in a while. All of this while being hundreds of dollars cheaper than the Samsung or Apple alternatives.

I do not understand peoples infatuation with this phone. For the good points. It is fast. It has yet to bog down with all the large processor consuming apps i have. However, the negatives dramatically outweigh the pros and these are not nitpick negatives. First off. This phone is ususually annoyingly slippery. Im talking wet eel slipping out of your hands. No joke. It is so rediculously slippery it will probably slide out of its case. Also with it being so slippery when typing on the keyboard my fingers slide from one letter to another. Forget about even holding the phone without a case. Of course since a case is necessary, it pretty much makes how slim the phone is not matter. In regards to how slim it is. Perhaps the fact that i owned a wonderful v40 previously, this phone seems rather small. Even friends have commented on how small this phone is. I might as well own one of those midget iphones. Cameras... Well, they are very unimpressive. Absolutely no match for my v40 or v20 or my blackberry even. I have no idea why people are content with them unless they lived under a rock and never used a quality phone b4. Battery life is ok but nothing to brag about. Real life using the phone with screen 60% brightness im already down to 10% after using the phone for a couple hours online. So 90% gone. Sound.... The speakerless design of transmitting sound thru the glass seems wonderful for waterproofing but the reality is it doesnt work well. Im constantly moving my ear on the phone trying to get it over the speaker which doesnt exist. My friend who owned one had the same complaint. And last... I think... The rounded edges which are some sort of trendy fad for god knows what reason are difficult to get any screen protector to actually cover to the edges so it is highly likely to get smacked in an unprotected area. Besides, they provide to improvement on my viewable screen area. Purely some trend setters fad that doesnt help it be a functional phone. Maybe its some "cool" look for the millenials but it doesnt work. Im getting rid of this thing and looking for a v50 or 60

Sad to see reviews slamming this phone because some other more expensive phones are better. If you get this, download nova launcher app, don't forget to turn on 3d sound when needed and don't forget the 2nd speaker is in mid screen area. Don't hold it like a normal phone.the middle part of the phone goes to the hole in your ear. Lift it up a bit is what I am saying.

I didn't buy the lg G8 from best buy, nonetheless I needed to share my experiences with yall about this phone. I had bought it had not even activated it yet and lost it. Where I live we get snow and let me tell you this phone withstood 4 days under about a 3 foot snow berm and in the end not a single problem with it. Not even. A scratch. Very impressed

My 4 year old Galaxy is just as good

Maybe my expectations for a new phone are too high, but I was quite disappointed in this phone. I've been holding onto my Galaxy S7 as long as possible because it doesn't seem like these newer phones do anything special to warrant the price tags of $600+. I did a little research and this phone seemed okay so I pulled the trigger and bought it. Was every disappointed. Some reviews said good battery life and some said bad battery life. Battery is terrible for a new phone in 2020. After a full charge it was down to 85% in 15 minutes just from browsing the internet and getting some apps set up. I couldn't get it to pick up some blue tooth devices. I took my old phones and they all found the devices just fine. Phone seems awkward - too tall and skinny and the glass construction is slippery. The phone was always sliding off things and falling. After 1 day of this I said no thanks. No point in having monthly payments when these newer phones do nothing better than a 4 year phone from 2016. These companies throw in a few completely stupid gimmick features to get people to think they need a new phone. Not going to work for me. Unless your phone is inoperable, what is the point?

Neat phone and idea. Almost never get more than 1 bar due to dual screen case blocking antenna. Poor design....phone gets bogged down a lot. Can't have more than 3 apps running in background or it gets laggy.
