    Great Value for Solid Phone

If you are looking for a new affordable Android phone that comes with newer technology and updated software, then the Nexus 5X is the phone for you. When my 2-year contract with AT&T expired on Black Friday, I started looking around for a new phone to upgrade to without having to pay an arm and a leg with the new NEXT plans. Buying a new phone outright is the way to go now because you get a discount on your plan when you bring your own phone. The new Nexus 5X has everything you need in a new smartphone. The camera is great for low light pictures and takes excellent video, in 4K too. The phone is not bulky and is only slightly bigger than my older Galaxy S4. The construction is plastic and lightweight but is otherwise solidly built. The straight clean version of Android directly from Google is a huge plus because you don't have to deal with all the manufacturer bloatware that each company puts on their own phones which also leaves you with more free space. It has a fairly strong Wi-Fi adapter and reception radio. Plus the phone does not seem to get that hot after prolonged usage. Also has a fingerprint reader on the back for people who like that feature and with a third party app you can control the LED notification light that's built into the bottom microphone grill. Battery life is good as I can manage to get 4-5 days on my phone but I only talk, text, and check email mainly so it will be different for people who watch a lot of video on their phones. (I disable a lot of apps that I don't use.) Now for the negatives. The screen is not as bright as an AMOLED screen but the IPS screen is fine by me as it doesn't need to be set as bright to see. In order to get files (other than photos) off your phone, your only 2 options are either Google Drive or a USB-C to USB-A cable which you must buy separately since it does not come with a micro USB slot for expanding storage a la Apple. I'm not sure if this phone has wireless charging capability since I never plan to use it. Overall, I am very pleased with the Nexus 5X for the value I am getting out of it.

    Excellent device running pure Android

While it doesn't have the specs to match the Nexus 6P, the Nexus 5X is a perfect device for someone who doesn't mind a smaller screen and wants a lightweight workhorse of a phone with a very decent camera. In my opinion, the 5.2" screen is the sweet spot for smartphones: It's big enough to see everything and get work done, but it's not overly big (like the behemoth Nexus 6 was). If you're used to AMOLED screens, however, you'll probably be a little let down by the IPS screen here on the Nexus 5X. It's not terrible by any means, but the colors do look a little more washed out than on an AMOLED. That being said, the camera on this phone is the best I've seen on a Nexus device so far. Very good, sharp image quality that looks decent even in low light. No lag or crashes to speak of so far. Of course the main reason to own a Nexus device is the pure Android experience. There is no bloatware whatsoever here, and everything runs speedily and snappily. No problems with more demanding games such as Goat Simulator or Republique'. The fingerprint reader works exceptionally well, but to me it seems a tad slower than the reader on the iPhone or iPad. Still, it gets the job done, and that's a minor quibble anyway. Finally, another bonus of this device is that it is compatible with Google's "Project Fi" network, which is the reason I originally purchased this phone in the first place. Project Fi is just awesome and has saved me a ton of money so far over AT&T's data plans. In short, the Nexus 5X provides a relatively smooth, trouble-free experience overall and is a wonderful device for anyone needing (or wanting) a pure, bloat-free Android experience.

    Great All-Arounder

This phone is in one word solid. With a much improved camera, bigger screen, and reliable performance, it is an improvement to its namestake in almost every way (even in the battery territory, although that comparison may not be entirely fair). The 5x is a great phone for those either on a budget or in the mood for a more pocketable phone. Also, please ignore the review from MarioP, he clearly has not actually purchased the phone and is rather intent on bad mouthing Android products while glorifying those made by Apple. Petty fanboying aside, if you are in the market for a phone in this price range/ size range, the 5x will fit your needs perfectly. If, however, you have deeper pockets (both in a size and cash sense), you are better off going with the nexus 6p, iPhone 6s plus, lgV10, or the Samsung Galaxy note 5.

My first smart phone. I chose this phone because I have a Google Nexus tablet and figured I'd have less of a learning curve, which proved to be true. I like the size, weight and feel of it. Takes good pictures, quick response and good display. I have only two minor complaints: 1)The fingerprint security feature is cool, but it does not work when your finger is too cold, too dry, not dry enough, not clean enough, etc. I finally disabled it out of frustration. 2) Because this phone is neither an IPhone nor a Samsung, it is difficult to find cases, chargers, accessories, etc. except on-line. Still, I really like the phone

Great product by Google and LG. Pick this if you want to use your phone with one hand, Nexus 6P is huge for medium sized hands. Pros: 1)It is Nexus(fast OTA updates and smooth software) 2)Takes great pictures (on par with IPhone 6S, even better in some areas) 3)Battery life, and "Rapid Charging" (better then average) 4)Performance is great 5)Display (lifelike colors, AMOLED screens are supersaturated ) Cons: 1)Storage (pick 32gb version if you keep all your data in your phone, I use cloud storage for some type of files) 2)Speaker (It's average, nothing special)

Great phone and I love the size it is between the size of a iphone 6s and iphone 6splus. The phone is easy to use, the finger print scan on the back does take some getting used, kinda preffered it be on the front. No complains on the camera or video. Oh yeah the USB C charge is nice, but it is new technology so you will need to buy extra charger-here is a hint buy adapters so you can still use your old chargers.

same processor as blackberry priv, but with a lower resolution screen. this phone has the latest version of android (may require updates out of the box), and doesnt lag like the blackberry priv. nexus devices are the closest to pure android as they get, and google maintains the updates, not your carrier. finger print scanner runs perfectly as well. pros: timely android os and security updates fast processor, no lag cons: low storage (16gb and 32gb), no expandable memory.

Got this phone on sale for $299 couldn't miss the opportunity. When I received it I was so excited packaging is beautiful and so is the device. The OS is smooth and I love Android 6.0 It's not so powerful which is the downside since I do a lot on my phone and It doesn't always handle it well but if you don't do a lot it'll be a good phone for you. I've gone through a bunch of phones, G2 S4 G4 S6 and 2014 Moto X but this one is my favorite so far and is the cheapest of them all at well the times that they were released. I love it

This phone is definitely one of the best "middle-class" cell phones. For the price, the speed is competitive with many flagship phones. The camera has excellent HDR quality and the phone receives updates as they are released. As an unlocked phone, most carriers are compatible. An absolute Best Buy!

This was the second Nexus 5x I have purchased. This is a great phone, especially at the $300 sale price. The fingerprint reader is fast and extremely useful. The camera is great, especially compared to my Nexus 4. Pure Marshmallow is clean and smooth, and quick and reliable updates make it worth every penny. I love my Nexus devices [4,7 (2012), and this]!

I love everything about this phone. Android seems to have surpassed Apple and the kicker is you have all these hardware companies competing with each other. There's a reason why a top-of-the-line iPhone is $600 vs. $400 (or less) for Android.

It's a good piece of hardware, but included charger and cable is only USB-C to USB-C. There is no USB to USB-C cable in box, so can't charge or sync it with any laptop - you need to buy extra cable...

I got this phone 3 months ago and it's great, I'm very surprise at the battery there's a feature on it called Doze that puts the phone to sleep when it's idle so it doesn't burn the battery and so far I only have to charge every other day.

I purchased this as gift for a family member. It works better than expected, especially considering the price. Phone is fast, light weight, battery last all day on a single charge, call quality is excellent and its running stock Android.

This Nexus 5X had performed flawlessly on Verizon. The only and I mean only downside is that Verizon does not offer a visual voicemail app. For me that's OK. I use Google voice for that. :)

This is a good basic level smart phone. It does everything I need with none of the un-needed bells and whistles. I don't play games, view movies or do social apps. I use this for work and it is almost perfect for that.

Finally broke down and decided to replace my Nexus 5. While this phone isn't as stylish as the 5, it's loaded with a lot more features. I really like the fingerprint reader fir extra security.

This is my 3rd Google Nexus phone. It replaces a Nexus 6, which I dropped. I am happy with the 5x so far, although I only really ask it to be a phone, access the internet and take simple photos.

Using Android stock version with no added apps like what the carries do, the phone is fast and smooth for 299 and last a day and half without charge.
