Bought this to use as a computer monitor but the text was not sharp. Ended up returning.

This LG monitor was a perfect pairing for my laptop. Put it on an adjustable VESA table mount and it’s like a dream. Everything was working fine up until I decided to test out the abilities of USB-C on this monitor (formerly using HDMI). Upon the first 10 minutes of plugging it in to my laptop, smoke started emitting the top of the unit. Quickly unplugged it, and will be returning it as soon as possible.

With WebOS onboard, this monitor can run any app from the LG App store. LG has an extensive selection of apps that can stream all the online services like Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Paramount+, YouTube, Spotify, etc. Hundreds of LG Channels and IPTV from around the world is available along with Games, Entertainment, and Education. In addition to Internet content, you can also connect to your Smart Home devices using the LG ThinQ App on your cellphone. Of course, this is also a beautiful computer monitor which can be connected via USB-C, HDMI, or wireless Apple AirPlay or Bluetooth. The screen surface is anti-glare making for a wonderful viewing experience. Full 4K HD resolution ensures that everything is crisp and sharp, you can fit so much content on a small screen. The monitor comes with an LG Magic Remote allowing it to be interacted with like a television. The bottom line is that this monitor is so much more than a computer monitor, it is an information and entertainment center.

I got this monitor for productivity & office work - lots of text on white backgrounds. I also have a Macbook Pro so I needed a secondary monitor that would look decent next to the Apple display, and this is the only monitor at the store that could stand up next the Apple. The clarity is excellent at many different resolutions. The color is good. The onscreen menus are easy to use and offer good customization options. Haven't used the smart TV functionality.

I am using this monitor with a Mac mini, and after setting it up, I installed the BetterDisplay application that allows you to control monitor brightness and volume through your Mac keyboard controls. It is much easier to control monitor brightness and volume this way rather than having to adjust them using the remote or controls on the monitor itself. BetterDisplay uses the DDC/CI protocol which is included on most monitors sold today and allows you to control monitor settings right from your computer. Unfortunately, after trying to use BetterDisplay to control the brightness and volume of this monitor, I discovered that this monitor does not support DDC/CI. Without this capability, you can only control the brightness and volume using the remote or controls on the monitor itself, which is a pain. I reached out to LG support and confirmed with their engineering team that this monitor does not support the DDC/CI protocol for controlling the monitor brightness and volume. It is very unfortunate that such a common and useful protocol was left out on this monitor. The next disappointment I encountered with this monitor is its speakers. While it does have built-in speakers which is a plus, the audio quality is not very good. On a monitor that is advertised to have Smart capabilities for streaming content, you would think it would have good speakers. To make matters worse, this monitor also does not have an audio output jack. So, the only way to use better quality speakers with this monitor is to connect a Bluetooth speaker, which will have a delay and will not have the same quality as hardwired speakers. If you are interested in using the Smart apps and want good sound quality, I would not recommend this monitor. If you are just using this monitor with a computer and don’t intend to use the Smart features, you can connect speakers directly to your computer for better sound quality as a workaround. But, there is no way to plug external speakers into the monitor itself. When trying to use this monitor with my Mac with HDR enabled, I experienced flickering and a buzzing sound coming from the monitor. I was not able to locate a setting on my Mac to fix this, so I had to disable HDR altogether. I also tested this monitor with an Apple TV and experienced the same flickering issue with HDR enabled, which wasn’t resolved until I adjusted the Chroma setting, which is not an option on my Mac. Not sure what is causing this, but it is unfortunate that this monitor does not appear to play well with Apple’s default HDR settings. There are some things that I do like about this monitor. It has a USB C port with 65w power delivery, which allows you to connect a laptop to the monitor and charge it at the same time. The display is also good quality. Since this is a Smart monitor, it has capabilities similar to a LG TV. It has HDMI CEC which allows my Mac to turn the monitor off immediately when I put the Mac to sleep. This monitor also has a setting you can turn on that reduces blue light, which is nice. And like any LG Smart TV, you can install and use streaming apps directly on the monitor, as well as stream videos to it via AirPlay. Overall, I am not impressed with this monitor. It seems that LG has sacrificed some essential and standard capabilities you would find on most monitors in place of “Smart” features. I would much rather this not be a Smart monitor and have the essential features that most monitors have. If LG had all of the essentials covered on this monitor, then the Smart capabilities would be an added bonus. But, that is not the case since LG sacrificed essential features. It is very unfortunate that LG did not include support for DDC/CI and did not put an audio output jack on this monitor. Given all of this, I find it hard to recommend this monitor unless the missing features outlined are not important for your particular use case.

4K picture quality is very clear, and it is convenient t with the webos system.

I previously purchased a different monitor for my wife's new Mac Mini M4 and the view was not what she wanted. We went back and saw this LG 27" Smart Monitor and she was very pleased with how this one worked. Once at home, she connected it to her Mac Mini and she loved it...

Good monitor I just had trouble with the WiFi lagging on the gaming side of it!!!

One star for delivery and customer service experience. I ordered one day delivery service and still haven't received the order. I called customer service three times and it's still not resolved. They told me they don't know why Roadie canceled the delivery and they have been unable to do anything to reship my item a different way. Customer service also disconnected me twice and made no attempt to call me back. it wasn't because I was rude either, I was very nice to the agents. I will probably not receive the order as it's stuck in a glitch and they don't seem to have a way to fix something as simple as a delivery change. I will reorder somewhere else. Unfortunately, it will cost me more too as the item was on sale when it was purchased and I'll probably have to wait forever to get a refund. Very dispointed!

I can't see how its a smart monitor when it cannot seem to connect to a wifi connection to save its life. I get cell phone connections in about 15 seconds but have spent hours trying to connect this monitor. Connected its awesome and when the connection lease is up forget it. Even with connection issue why dont they patch a fix?
