Broken after 2 years

I bought this microwave about 2 years ago. It worked great for the first 2 years, but last week, the metal plate on the inside of the microwave started making a very loud buzzing noise, the lights started flashing, and it started smoking. I tried it out a few more times and the same thing happened. I've seen other reviews say that their metal plate caught fire, so I'm going to permanently stop using the microwave to prevent this from happening to me. It's a shame that I spent so much money on the microwave for it to only have a 1 year warranty, especially for an issue that I didn't cause.

This is the worst microwave I've ever bought. I bought it twice because I liked the design and thought the first failure was a fluke. However, both failed within 18 months. Ive bought microwaves under $50 that have lasted 5+ times longer. On both microwaves the heat shield inside the microwave began sparking with no metal in the microwave and burned destroyed the inside. Awful LG quality, I would give them another star if they offered my money back or another 18 month reppacement.

LG aka Long Gone, no more! After two years the display on this unit no longer displays the numbers correctly. I called up LG support and basically you out of luck. The warranty doesn't cover it. Very disappointed as I heard LG products were good, but after this experience, never again. Stick with a name brand that is known for appliances!

Its tripping my circuit braker

From day one it was tripping my circuit braker. I thought that it was bad circuit braker and microwave is too powerfull. Then replaced circuit brakers to brand new ones. The same issue. Electric kettle that is 1500Watts never tripped my circuit braker. Even if run this microwave at 50% power it will tripp your circuit braker. I guess i got malfunctioning unit. But realized it only after one year of purchase.

Good with a few observations...

Short answer is it's good. I bought this to replace a broken Black & Decker 900w unit I had for 8 years. Here's my observations from using it for the last couple of months:
It's smaller and lighter than the unit I replaced. I specifically looked for a 900w comparable unit knowing my space constraints and found out it's even smaller than the B&D 900w. Nice. It begs the question if the larger unit of LG might have worked given the size efficient design. The unit is lighter than the old unit so it moves around when you open or close it sometimes. I didn't notice that with the old unit. I have to adjust it during daily use. It's a bother but oh well.
It's an inverter design. I wanted something presumably more efficient and more modern in terms of power consumption and cooking performance. It's difficult to judge either I guess. As far as cooking efficiency, as an inverter type design it's just different. Some foods take a little longer now and some foods take shorter. Could be the ramp up of power and/or the different microwave wave length I have no idea. The top of the microwave doesn't get nearly as hot as the old unit. It's just a learning curve.
Keypad and beeping tone are different. There's no conventional keypad, just a line bar and flat buttons to hold down to adjust time on the outside panel and it has an inside panel as well. Inside panel has other options that will be familiar like popcorn and soup buttons. I mostly use the outside panel though. The start button still accommodates the "add 30 second" feature which is nice. The conventional beeping tone is replaced by LG "singing to you" with a musical tone. I LOVE THIS. No more annoying beeps.
Microwave door is different. So I wanted a handle for my microwave as a personal preference and my wife wanted a sleeker unit. This is both. The entire front is the door incorporating the keypad and the outer edge is the recessed handle (not visible from the front) and has a small window for the display to show through. The door design works however it does collect fingerprints and my kids greasy finger marks that are difficult to remove. It's an annoyance.
So yeah I like it with a few caveats. Given the size efficient design I think I would have gotten the bigger LG unit instead but this works as advertised. Take measurements especially the depth! Hope this helps because the photos won't upload.

efficient, Smart Inverter, Simple yet Modern looking (looks great on the inside also), Super easy one touch 30 sec START and don't have to stop it to modify the time, Easy clean, heats better and is much quieter than my old MW.

I LOVE MY LG COMPACT MICROWAVE OVEN

Not only is my LG - NeoChef 0.9 Cu. Ft. Compact Microwave Oven simple to operate, its stainless steel look is definitely fashion statement in my kitchen. Inside and out, the oven looks classy.
The directions for use are written instructions a child can understand and once I grew accustomed to its operation, I am sorry I didn't replace my former microwave until now.
It's compact size fit easily on my utility counter top with room to spare. The oven exterior and interior are easy to clean and wipe spotless. It's also quiet-operating and when cooking or defrosting is finished, the friendly signal is so far better than hearing a loud buzz. The interior size is just right almost anything you need to defrost, reheat or cook.
The purchase price won't destroy your pocketbook too.
What's not to love my LG Compact Stainless Steel Microwave Oven?

I recently purchased a microwave from BestBuy, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. This microwave has truly exceeded my expectations in every way.
First and foremost, it's incredibly efficient. It heats up my food quickly and evenly, and the different power settings allow for precise cooking. The sensor cooking feature is a game-changer, ensuring that my dishes come out perfectly cooked every time.
The design of the microwave is sleek and modern, fitting seamlessly into my kitchen decor. It's also very user-friendly, with an easy-to-read display and intuitive controls. The inside is spacious enough to accommodate large dishes, yet the microwave itself doesn't take up too much counter space.
One feature I love is the quick-start button, which makes reheating leftovers a breeze. The defrost function is also a great time-saver, and it works exceptionally well.
In terms of noise, this microwave is surprisingly quiet, which is a pleasant surprise. The build quality is excellent, and it feels like a durable appliance that will last for years.
Overall, I can't recommend this microwave enough. It has made my daily cooking and reheating tasks more convenient and enjoyable. If you're in the market for a new microwave, I highly suggest checking out the one I got from Best Buy. It's an outstanding addition to any kitchen.

Sleek looking, easy to use and powerful. Compact and yet surprisingly still holds large dishes on the inside. Plays a pleasant little tune when it is done cooking. Been very pleased so far, but have only had it for a few weeks, so hopefully it lasts.

We bought a microwave when my wife and I got married that lasted like 25 years. Since then, we've gone through three - each lasting only 1-2 years. So this time around we wanted something small that was built well.
So far this LG seems to fit the bill nicely. It has a little more power than some this size, and seems to heat just as quickly as larger units we had in the past. Cooking heat seems fairly even across a plate.
The fan noise is minimal during operation.
It doesn't skate across the countertop when I pull the door open.
The rotating tray on the bottom doesn't seem to make a lot of clattering noises so far, and the wheels it rides on seem a bit larger and smoother turning than some.
The inside surface seems easy to wipe clean. I'm not sure, but it feels like it may be some sort of ceramic coating rather than just paint.
The tune it plays at the end of cooking is a little quirky (about 10 notes long), but it's effective. It reminds me a little of the first bars of "The Entertainer." It keeps playing a tune periodically until you open the door after cooking though, which can get a little annoying if you can't get back to it right away.
The controls on the outside front are simple - just a "swipe" control for cook time, and start and stop buttons. They all seem to "sense" touch, so there's no moving parts or switches. The touch controls seem to work best when I use my thumb. Your mileage may vary. The "swipe" control for cook time lets you pick any time from about 0-2min with each swipe in 10sec increments. Sometimes I swipe past the time I wanted and have to slide my finger back to the left to get it right. It takes a little time to get the hang of it. The increments get larger as the cook time gets longer.
I'm hopeful that these controls last, since they're not mechanical. There are more controls inside behind the door panel for more advanced cooking and defrosting, but honestly we have not needed to use them (other than to set the clock, which only displays if you choose to set it - so no endless flashing zeros or anything). I like the clean appearance with most of the controls hidden away.
We mostly use this for heating soups and drinks, and reheating plates of leftovers, and it has been great for that so far.
So far my wife and I both really like it!

Fantastic appliance with "new school" features

If you're used to "old school" microwaves, this is gonna take a bit to get used to. First of all, you'll notice the lack of a numerical keypad - you cannot manually enter a cook time; there are buttons and a nifty slider that increases the timer in 10 second increments. Yep, 10 seconds - no more cooking things for 45 seconds; better pick 40 or 50.
Also, instead of an alarm-like "beep" when the food is done, it plays a wee little tune vaguely reminiscent of Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer." This was unnerving at first, but now we're used to it.
Apart from those little oddities, it's a fantastic appliance that works VERY well. Intuitive to use, heats foods efficiently and effectively, and is feature-rich with great cooking customizations.

Great little Microwave!

The Hubs and I moved into a new place that didn't come with microwave so we tried to see if we could do without one for a few days. Turns out that's very difficult to do for certain things you want to heat up quickly and not wait for a stove top to heat up.
I had done some review hunting on good microwaves that were under a decent price range and not too over the top and kept coming back to this one.
The controls on it can be a little difficult to understand if you are coming from a standard microwave with a number pad where you can enter your minutes manually and be done with it, it instead has various modes you can select that fit what you are trying to heat up. If you don't want to pick a mode, simply hitting start will make it heat for 30 seconds which is great for warming up drinks or melting butter.
The popcorn setting works perfectly well, it doesn't over pop or burn the popcorn at all and I don't have to wait by the microwave to quickly pull it out to avoid over cooking it. That's a pretty big plus.
It has a lot of power as well, it doesn't take it beet long to make a dish super hot. Oh, and I can't forget how delightfully musical it is. It doesn't have an annoying beep or ding but rather plays little chipper tunes when it's done.
