Filters cost $100 each and no third party filter options…making the running cost of this unit higher in a 2-3+ year period than other premium brands in the space

A Behemoth and Massively Effective Air Cleaner

The PuriCare air purifier is a phenomenal machine, combing an eye catching design with filter performance that makes it a great option for anyone looking for a large space air purifier. The design is somewhat polarizing. For one, this thing is gigantic. I didn't have a full scope of just how large it was until the box was delivered. It was slightly jarring. It's not particularly wide, but it's quite tall and employs a monolithic looking style of design. Overall, it's looks bold. How could an air purifier be so large, my wife asked. Well... This thing is an air cleaning machine. The stated 800+ sq ft rating feels spot on in my experience. My house's main floor is a semi open concept living area with a kitchen, dining room, family room, and living room, totaling somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 SQ ft. The majority of this space has had a noticeable improvement in air quality since adding the PuriCare to our front room. Most noticably, various house odors have been cleared up. Our house is a bit older and gets a slight musty smell during humid days. These smells have all but vanished. Features wise, this has what you'd expect; an automatic mode, some controls for air direction, speed and oscillation. It has a companion app that does its job well, and has a front display which gives you exactly as much information as you'd probably want. Finally, the remote attaches via magnetic mount like you'll see on Dyson models and it works just as well here and is an ingenious solution to the problem of keeping your remote from getting lost. Back to the design... It's futuristic and bold. My wife frankly isn't a fan, but it's narrow enough that it's easy to tuck away in a corner. It won't be out of sight, but it'll at least be out of the way. The towering aesthetic feels slightly out of place for an air purifier, but at the end of the day, LG can say they designed something that looks like nothing else and is highly effective. That's the most important part. As a side note, LG has included an additional base attachment that adds a pretty significant amount of stability to the unit. As a parent of a 2 year old and a new born, this is a great addition and earned brownie points with the wife. If you can deal with the design and general hugeness of the PuriCare, you'll be rewarded with a purifier that does a wonderful job of cleaning the air, and does it effectively in some pretty large spaces. It's been a great addition to our house and would be in yours too.

Really just an air purifier not so much a fan. Design is futuristic but thats about where the good ends. Fan doesnt stay on high. It does what it wants. Even at 10 and on turbo it barely puts out any air. A 65 dollar lasko puts out 5 times the amount of air this 300 dollar fan does. Dont waste your money

As being highly allergic to dust and seasonal pollen clean air is always a priority for me. Add on top of that always liking a bit of air flowing in my direction and having a spouse who despises ceiling fans (after I installed one). The LG - PuriCare Smart HEPA AeroTower Air Purifying Fan, seems like a good fit for my household. Having the ability to clean air, rotate the whole unit in oscillating mode, using a diffuser to redirect air up and adjusting it to pinpoint air flow towards my favorite TV viewing spot without annoying the wife is a win win. First off, the unit is fairly large and a bit unwieldy to remove from the box, luckily there is an indentation on the rear of the unit that you can place your hand into to move the unit (while gently holding the top front). You really don’t want to try to drag or slide the unit after it is on its rotating mount, as having is level is integral in ensuring the unit can swivel on its base in room circulating or oscillating mode. The air purifying wants to connect to your Wi-Fi to enable the LG Thin mobile app to work. Now that is great, but it would not integrate with the same app that controls my LG OLED TV. I had a real difficult time setting up the smart app, I wound up using an old iPhone 6s, which I essentially use as a remote control for smart devices. In reality I believe the app was hung up on access to precise location services being enabled, and also tracking your location all the time. I am very cognizant of privacy issues associated with Mobile apps and other than getting the local weather and outdoor air quality I’m unsure why this is even required, especially precise location. And adding the device to an existing LG Thin App without these permissions does not prompt you to add them and/or is not satisfied with not having precise location services turned off. OK, privacy rant over. Otherwise after removing the protective bag covering the filter, I was able to fire up this Air Purifier and start experiencing better air and better circulation of it. The unit has a nice display which indicates current air quality and various modes as you change them. The included remote can also be used to control the unit (and attaches magnetically to the side of the unit for safekeeping). I prefer using the smart app, as settable options are easier to control and you can see the air quality trends in your house over time, as well as room temperature and humidity. As a matter of fact, my daughter unfortunately likes to vape and I prohibit that in my house, the historical data on air quality acts as big brother, indicating if she is vaping and contributing to the degradation of my indoor air quality while I am away, this actually works pretty flawlessly. As for the cooling ability, it has fan speed settings of 1 through 10 and a turbo mode which is the highest speed. Only in turbo mode is the noise from the fan noticeable, otherwise this is one of the quieter air purifiers/fans I have. Inclusion of a UV LED light to disinfect the fan blades is a feature in the model I have, the usefulness of this is debatable, although the concept is similar to a UV light used to bathe air conditioner coils in UV light. I have another air purifier that does something similar while air is pulled through the unit and the science clearly states that the air would need to linger in the unit to effectively be disinfected by the UV light. LG uses a different approach in killing germs which gather on the fan blades. I have another air purifier from a manufacturer of air filters and that unit seems to do a better job at measuring indoor air pollution and has the advantage of its replaceable media (air filters) being substantially cheaper. That unit also has washable pre filters which can larger particles of dust before the main filter. The LG unit only has a single drum shaped HEPA filter which is said to last a year, however the replacement cost is at least $100. However, the LG unit does an effective job eliminating things like allergens, dust, lint, mold spores, bacteria, viruses, and pet dander, just using a bit of a different approach. Pros: - Great job filtering air - LG Smart app, the same one I use to control my LG TV can be used. - Easy to replace the HEPA filter - nice design, and the ability to precisely target air flow direction is a great feature - wife says it looks like a giant bagel slicer Cons: - large size makes it difficult to move, unpack, setup. - Not sure the unit is as pollution sensitive as the other smart air filtering unit I have. - Smart phone app setup, privacy concerns (why do you need precise location access on my mobile device all the time?)

Bought an open box (excellent condition) but arrived in bad conditions (scratches and missing items). Requested a replacement, got a replacement. I've been using it without the option of turning it side to side but now I noticed this item shakes while turning and it also gets stuck while shaking on the same spot. Now apparently I can't even return it because I only had 15 days to return the item. Apart from this issue, I also had problems with the payment methods with Best Buy. Stay away from this item and Best Buy.

It was broken after 4 months of use. I had a really difficult time reaching out to the right department at LG since they did not have the right option for air purifier. They repeatedly transferred me to all the departments at LG. Finally, I was able to talk to the right CS after I sent an email using their "email to president" option. By the way, it fully took 4 months to get my refund after I sent the item to the repair department. This was the worst customer service I ever experienced.

LG PuriCare AeroTower Air Purifying Fan

So I just received my LG PuriCare AeroTower Air Purifying Fan about a week ago and I've been putting it through its paces. Bless that FedEx man for carrying this huge box all the way up my driveway with no dolly. This thing is huge and the box was even bigger. Once I got this thing inside the house, I clipped the straps holding the and slid the top of the box off. Inside is the LG PuriCare AeroTower fan and lemme start by saying, that while this fan is nice, its very tall and very heavy. Also in the box is the instruction manual, and remote control with battery. Be careful and not throw away the bottom styrofoam and cardboard box as there is an additional accessory included in the box which is a base stand that folds out. Following along with the user manual, slide out the vent cover at the bottom on the front (its held by magnets) and remove the filter. Remove the plastic around the filter and you're ready to go. You can download LG ThinQ app from the App Store for iPhones or the Google Play Store for Android and use the app to assist in the setup process with Wi-Fi. There's controls on the top of the left and right panels (same controls are on the remote as well). This fan has become a great addition to my home. Not only does it put out amazing air, but it's purifying it at the same time. It will tell you in big red numbers on the display if its detecting something and will let you know when the air is clean and has returned to normal range. In this day and age of germs and viruses flying around its nice to have a great air purifier while also staying cool. We use this in addition to our AC on those really hot days and in the evenings we just have the LG PuriCare AeroTower running. LG is giving that other major company of purifying fans some good competition. The only that might be a draw for some is the size and weight of this fan. While its not a dealbreaker for me, it may be for others. This fan is tall very heavy. Very solid build quality. Kudos to LG for an awesome product.

    Great Air Purifier

The LG PuriCare air purifier is a great product. Setup is really simple. Once you take it out of the box, there's some plastic and other packaging elements to remove, but after that, it's good to go. If you would like to be able to control it from your phone, you can download the LG ThinQ app, but the filter is still completely functional if you don't want to do that. It even comes with a remote, which can magnet right on to the side of the unit. The filter features 10 speeds and a Turbo mode. An Auto mode. 3 different types of air circulation, and finally, oscillation. It is a very well rounded filter and offers many options, while being very easy to use. At it's lowest speeds, it is barely audible. Only at speeds higher than 5 can you really hear it, with the highest settings being slightly distracting. Setting it to auto will control the fan speed automatically based on your air quality. This is probably the best setting for most people. The different air circulation methods are a nice touch as well. You can have wide, direct, or diffused. Wide gives you the widest circulation. Direct slightly closes the two little window/doors in the center to better focus the air directly in front of the unit. And diffused closes the doors even more, still allowing a bit of air through, but forcing most of the air up through the top of the unit. It's very cool to give these options, and I can see different situations calling for different types of circulation. The oscillation function is also a nice touch. With other filters, they are mostly static, so I really appreciate the option to oscillate, better circulating clean air all over the room. Lastly, there is a color display screen on the front of the unit, giving you useful information like speed, mode, and air quality. It's very useful to have the information available at a quick glance. As mentioned before, there is a smartphone app available, although I did download it, I ended up not using it very much. Since the remote is so easy to use and more convenient, I just didn't see the need to open the app. But it's nice that you have that option. Overall, this is a really great air filter with a ton of options and features. But it is also really easy to use.
