I never knew I needed this mini-washer, but it's great if you want to run a small load when the big washer is busy. PROS: Styling matches similar LG washers and dryers. Unit is quiet. You can add an optional IR remote control. CONS: The IR remote control should be included, but it's not. No WiFi. Separate supply hoses, drain hose, and electrical cord make for a busy space between wall and washer (plastic y-connectors for drain and water supply are supplied; should use metal for supply) This pedestal washer is surprisingly heavy, especially after mounting the heavy front loader on top.

I purchased an open-box sidekick in fair condition. I've used the sidekick a few times. Installation was relatively simple. Moving the sidekick and placing the washer over it was a P.I.T.A. The washer needs to be screwed down onto the sidekick to prevent the washer from vibrating during a wash cycle. I wish there was more vibration dampening on the four top corners of the sidekick where the washer's feet rest. The washer vibration is still loud and harsh even after the screws are placed to secure the washer to the sidekick. But this isn't an issue with the sidekick itself. I ran into some issues with the sidekick's setting buttons. I have to wait a minute before I can select the "handwash" setting, which requires a few button presses. This isn't normal, but although an inconvenience, it's not serious enough for me to take back to Best Buy. I purchased the three-year geek squad warranty so I hope I don't encounter any other issues. So far, I'm satisfied with the sidekick. The operation is quiet and it works very well for what I bought it for--to wash socks and active wear every week.

So far we have had this LG Sidekick for 3 months and its great having an option for smaller loads and separating just socks or underwear from the main loads. Imagine just a sock load where you can wash and dry and sort instead of all mixed up with everything else. Streamlines sorting. Also you just want to wash a sports uniform or delicates separate at the same time you do a main load its worth spending a little bit more for an extra washer than just a plain Pedestal.

Such an amazing idea. We constantly have athletic clothing or smaller loads (reds, baby clothes) that don’t require the full washer. I do wish detergent companies had a smaller size detergent pack for this to save on amount of detergent need. Highly recommended. We use this almost every other day after working out. They did a great job to ensure this matches color and specs for the drawer of the dryer so it looks the same.

One big knock against this that really frustrated me that doesn’t have anything to do with function is that the manufacturer sticks a huge brightly colored sticker on the top door. When you try to remove it it leaves a ton of sticky residue that is almost impossible to clean off without scratching the heck out of the window (it is a plastic window). We ended up putting another bumper sticker over top of the disaster I created while trying to clean the adhesive off. With regards to the actual washer itself, it doesn’t seem work quite as well with stain removal as the main full-size washer but it is OK for straightforward laundry like undershirts, underwear, socks, etc. It helps speed up laundry day by getting an extra load running at the same time. Keep in mind that although another load is getting done, you still probably only have one dryer so that might limit the rate at which laundry is finished but if you hang dry a lot of stuff like my wife does then maybe it doesn’t matter for you. One other minor critique is that you have to leave the door open to dry the unit out at the end of laundry day otherwise moisture gets trapped and it begins to smell like mildew if you aren’t careful. We usually leave it open overnight and it dries out just fine and is ready to close and stow away until the next use. Overall, a neat concept and handy appliance to have.

Top-rated, clever, slightly overpriced, fully automatic pedestal washer from LG — as long as you understand the limitations. First, it only holds 1 cubic foot of laundry (and full-size washers are typically over 4 cubic feet.) So, don’t overstuff it and don’t use too much detergent (easy to do when you first buy it). It’s fine for gentle-wash items as well as normal items. The standard warm-water wash-spin cycle takes 39 minutes (and the cold-water only setting takes 47 minutes.) Other wash modes are available, and they’re all surprisingly quiet. Actually the mid-wash add-fabric-softener alarm/chime is the noisiest part of the entire wash cycle. Like the newest full-size LG washers, changing cycles or adding an extra rinse is easy. If you have the vertical space to stack it, this is a recommended complement to your regular stackable LG washer.

My husband scoffed at me because I wanted this. He thought it was silly. I USE IT ALL THE TIME! I LOVE IT! If you're thinking about it, do it! Put the dryer on the pedestal for storage and get the sidekick, you won't regret it. So handy to be able to was 2 loads at the same time!

    Get Laundry Done Quicker

I like the LG Side Kick pedestal washer. It's nice to be able to wash smaller loads that would be normally too small to run in the big machine. I like the fact that you can wash two loads at once saving time. There are a couple things I think are worth mentioning. First, unlike the main washer, the smaller washer does not have any ports for adding detergent and bleach, Which brings me to the second thing I want to point out and that is because of this if you need to wash whites, you'll need to pour the bleach in either before adding your clothes or after. Why do I bring this up, you ask? It's because on the bleach bottle label it says, "Do Not Pour Directly On Clothes". All in all this was a good purchase.

This had caught our eye from the time we saw this for the first time. This is an amazing buy for us. We can wash all smaller clothes or our new born baby clothes in this one without mixing it with the regular cycle. It is just the size of a pedestal and does wonders. This was the best part about getting the LG washer dryer
