The LG – StandbyME 27” LED Full HD Smart webOS Touch Screen with Portable Design is impressive. First off, the ship weight is over 50 lbs. and the box it comes in is around 4 feet long. This is because the touchscreen comes with a stand and a heavy base. However, this thing is very portable. Smooth rolling wheels are incorporated into the base. Once it is charged up, just unplug it and wheel it wherever you want to use it or operate it while plugged in if you prefer. Assembly was straight forward. You will need a Phillips screwdriver to assemble the base. Assembly is simple. But mounting the screen is easier with some assistance. Once assembled, the whole thing stands about 50 inches tall and is amazingly stable. After it is put together, plug the power supply into the base and the other end into an outlet. A small light on the base will glow to indicate charging. Then pop the included batteries in the remote. You can control the unit, from the touch screen (on/off button is on the back and clearly marked), or the remote control. The first time the unit is powered up it goes into setup mode and walks you through setting up the device. Connecting to my wireless network was simple as were Bluetooth connections to my phone and iPad. NFC also works but took a bit more effort. First thing when you tap your NFC enabled phone on the back of the screen it wants you to download an app to the phone and log in before you can do anything. But it did eventually work after the app was installed and I logged in. Additionally, there are two physical input ports on the back of the screen, a Type A USB port and an HDMI port. The screen uses the WebOS operating system and comes with several apps preinstalled. The video is sharp (but not 4K) and the sound is sufficient. I downloaded Plex and viewed a home video served up from my local NAS. I also watched a couple of videos on streaming services I subscribe to. I tried it while having coffee on my deck, in the laundry room and in my home office. It works anywhere my home Wifi reaches. One thing that took a bit to figure out is how to remove unwanted WebOS apps. It’s actually very easy. Just use the touch screen. Touch and hold the app you want to remove until direction arrows appear. Then drag the app to reposition or drop it into the trashcan icon that appears at the top of the screen. Battery life is good. After 3 ½ hours unplugged and on battery power only, it still had 47% battery charge left. So while actively using it (not on standby), it seems to have about 6 hours of battery life. This would work well as a spare computer monitor, guest room TV or both. It’s portable! Another use where this would really shine is in a commercial setting. It would be perfect for video display at a trade show or other event where portability is a factor.

A unique solution for a very niche use-case!

This is almost like answering a question that no one asked. Are people really clamoring for a smallish TV that has a battery and a weighted stand that can be wheeled around (and rotated) so they can watch in every room? I was skeptical, too - but depending on your home's layout and your use-cases, it could be a pretty unique solution. Installation ================== This is a big, heavy box for a 27" screen, but there's a large, weighty base (with a battery) and a pole to elevate the display with an articulating mount that lets you flip it to portrait if you so desire (we didn't). It's a simple process requiring a Phillips screwdriver, but two people make it even easier when you need to "hang" the display on the stand, screw in the cable retainer, and snap in the cable cover. Overall it's easy and shouldn't take you more than 5-15 minutes. Appearance ================== There's nothing to fault here. It's a nice white, soft, rounded-edged device with a sturdy, weighted base and a nice handle to drag it around. I'd still recommend grabbing it below the display's "arm" for better weight distribution, but I'm going to assume LG's engineers have a pretty good grasp of physics and the top handle is still a safe way to move it from room to room. The rear of the display has a nice fabric coating that's a welcome addition and lends the device a bit of warmth. I can see this device fitting into multiple styles of fairly modern decor. Setup ================== Though easy, it will be annoying. Luckily you have a great responsive remote and a touchscreen so depending on how you want to login to your streaming services (Netflix, Disney, Hulu, HBO, AppleTV and more), it shouldn't annoy you too much. Once you've installed and logged into your streaming services, you shouldn't have to worry about it again. I know LG has exited the phone business, but if you have an LG phone (still hangin' onto that v60 dual screen), it comes with LG's ThinQ app which can sync with the StanbyME display and help facilitate application upgrades, remote control, and screen sharing. If you don't already have it, you'll be prompted to download/login/create an account. After spending 10 minutes logging into everything, it was ready to test! Display/Streaming/Speakers ========================================= The 27" display sounds small if you're used to watching 65" or more TVs, but you're probably OK with that size with your PC monitors or similar displays. In this case, since you can move it around (closer to the bed, elliptical, desk, etc.), it's actually a reasonable size. Specs-wise, the 1080p, 60hz display doesn't sound like much in this world of OLEDs and +200hz gaming displays, but for a TV/streaming device, it works very well. I think the point of this specific display is to make it easy to watch TV where you might not normally be able to on a screen this size. For example, you can take your phone or even your 11-13" tablet around with you, but a 27" is much larger and the speaker are much better than any typical phone or tablet. Pick your service, start watching, and any concerns about the validity of this product really disappear. Whether you're reclining in bed, watching the big game on the balcony, or getting some WFH done while keeping up with some shows, you can do it in comfort since you can raise/lower/angle the display as required. The speakers are well above what I had expected from a device this size. If you're used to "built-in" audio from a similar-sized monitor or your tablet, you should be pleased by the LG StanbyME. I couldn't crank it to the max without discomfort and if you're in a relatively quiet room, you'll probably be on the lower end of the volume scale while enjoying a pretty rich sound that does justice to deeper voices. From dramatic movies, anime, rom com, or epics like The Lord of the Rings (which I've enjoyed on much larger, well-equipped home-theaters), this display/speaker experience won't leave you yearning for more. You can connect HDMI devices (see the rubber flap on the rear of the display) or use a USB drive to play audio/video. Additionally, you can use your LG Thinq App or NFC (tap your phone behind the display - if you're facing the front of the display, reach behind to the left of it) to trigger some screen sharing options. I attempted this and got a garbled display once, then an endless "busy" looping circle. I don't know if there's any real practical case for NFC-enabled streaming since all the most popular streaming services were available (and plenty that I never heard of!). Other/Miscellaneous ====================== You get an odd phone clip that attaches to the top of the display and can clamp your phone into place while streaming from it (or vertically holding your phone just over the lip of the display so you can video call while streaming your phone's screen to the display). I would firmly classify this into "answering a question that no one asked", but you do you. To really value and appreciate this unique display, you'll need a home or use-case that supports the strengths of it. You'll want minimal carpet and a large, single-story layout so you can wheel this thing around from room to room. Imagine exercising in the morning while watching the news (or workout app), then wheeling it to the bathroom while you bathe, then wheeling it over to the kitchen to check out a cooking show while cooking/eating, and finally bringing it by the couch while you're lounging or "working from home". Does this sound like something that might be appealing or do you already have giant TVs in every one of those spaces? Does your home already have a lot of plush carpeting? If so, I'd forget about this display. Conclusion ========================= Initially, I was very skeptical that this display would be of any use and would end up parked in a single room. Turns out, it's a very flexible solution for the right home that doesn't want to invest in large TVs everywhere. The sound is great, the display is "just fine" and the ability to move it around without leaving it plugged in all the time is just short of a game-changer. If your home is the right layout (lots of flat, uncarpeted area) and you don't want to invest in large screen TVs everywhere, this could be a solution that may be worth the asking price.

This touch screen has just about everything you could want. Vertical, or horizontal. Full edge to edge touch: No dead zones. Sound quality is great and can be set LOUD. You can plug in a keyboard and use it like a laptop basically with its web browser apps. Or just watch tv. HDMI input works great and you can set it up as a mirrored or extended screen. And it doesn't even need to be plugged in to work. It has a built in battery. It can connect to your in home devices very conveniently like Bluetooth audio or media servers. The provided remote has direct buttons for Netflix/Disney/Prime. It's clear a LOT of thought went into his device. It also LOOKS great! Classy off white and fabric backing. I set it up in the kitchen to use as a recipe helper. Perfect use case for it. I used the touch screen to replay youtube videos to review steps while I cooked. There are just a few areas you could improve. Have different sizes for the main column. The it comes with has the center of the screen at 3 foot 6 inches. The resolution is 1080p which is 1920x1080. This would be awesome at even higher resolutions especially to use as a second computer screen. It would be awesome to have even LARGER screens available too. I did find a few issues with its apps. Full keyboard control on the web browser seems difficult or impossible as there's no way to access the address bar "that I found" without also using the remote control or touch screen. The LG videos app also provides no way to exit a video using the remote itself. "Back button doesn't work". It offers two different touch methods, using the side zones for various operations like touching the left edge to go back, or popping up a mini-menu using a three fingered touch. Oddly, this touch method choice, is only found on the homescreen and not in the system menu. It would be nice to access all the choices and options for the screen in the system menu instead of having to hunt for them. All-in-all. Minor issues. There's a LOT of great reasons to use this screen. It's basically both a TV and tablet.

Screen Specifications: - LCD Display (Product Name indicates LED) - Resolution = 1920x1080 (aka 1080p) - 60Hz Refresh Rate - Supports HDR10 - Controlled by touch screen and/or remote control - Dimensions: 14.2" x 24.4" (~26.5" diagonal, viewable) @ 1.2" thickness Operating System: - LG's webOS 6.0 - Ability to download apps from a huge library Dimensions/Weight: - MAX height: 49.8" - MIN height: 41.9" - MAX width: 24.4" (Display width in landscape orientation) - MIN width: 15.6" (Diameter of base, display in portrait orientation) - Total weight with stand: 38.6 lb Thoughts/Review: This is a weirdly specific product that is incredibly useful in certain situations. I think its best uses are for situations where a TV/Monitor is necessary for a temporary situation. Some example: home gym, TV while laying in bed/taking a bath/sitting outside, a secondary monitor when playing video games on your main TV, side monitor in the office for background TV/zoom calls/FaceTime. One amazing use was for using it in a hospital. My uncle was admitted into the hospital right before the 2023 Super Bowl and we brought this over to him to watch it from his hospital bed- we downloaded both YouTube TV and DirecTV apps to be able to stream the game on either app! The possibilities are limitless as long as you can roll this thing around. I think it's important to note that the wheels roll incredibly smoothly on hardwood and low-pile carpet/rugs. Unfortunately, I don't have thick carpeting in my home so did not have a chance to try it out on there but I would imagine it to be slightly more cumbersome in high-pile carpet situations. Loading this into a small SUV (Volvo XC40) was super easy and I could see this being the case for smaller sedans with the back seats folded down. The build quality of this apparatus is solid - the monitor has a cloth lining and the stand mount is wonderfully hidden behind a case. The buttons are integrated underneath the cloth liner and is incredibly sleek. The stand itself has a beige/pinkish hue to is and feels like a scratch-resistant painted metal. Setting this system up on my home wifi (Amazon Eero monitor), downloading updates, and navigating the App Store was easy enough). I would say there's room for improvement from LG's side for webOS 6.0 but it's VERY manageable. There's an NFC chip on the back of the monitor to easily connect your Android or Apple device. I am an Apple user so when I tapped the NFC chip to connect my phone, it automatically routed me to the LG ThinQ app (I had it installed already for my LG dishwasher), which allows for some functionality, particularly using your phone as a secondary remote. I had a chance to play with the AirPlay features and it functions very well, with the expected lag of casting videos and music. One thing to note is that not all of the apps that you download for this monitor can be used with touch features. Because it runs webOS and not and Android OS, it behaves more like a TV. You can navigate around the apps but Netflix, for example, will require you to scroll WITHIN the app using the remote control. One method that LG has applied to account for this switch is that it will show you a pop-up touch-screen controller on the monitor if the app itself can't be controlled via touch; I always reverted back to using the supplied, external remote controller. The speakers are hidden in the back of the screen itself underneath the fabric covering- it is equipped with a 10W- 2 channel speaker, which sends the sounds towards the sides. I expected it to be much worse but it has enough power for good audio. Don't expect earth-shattering sounds, you'd need some sort of mount and a sound bar for that. I would equate the sound to be better than most standard flat-panel televisions and more along the lines of what you get from a high quality computer monitor that come pre-equipped with speakers. My biggest gripe about this product is the screen resolution and quality (hence the 4/5 stars). I was taken aback a bit when I turned the screen on and it was an LCD screen, which inherently has its own issues- particularly viewing angles and backlighting. The resolution is also a bit disappointing as it tops out at 1080p; this is sufficient for most but felt somewhat dated given how prevalent LED technology is these days. In 2023, I would expect the bare minimum monitor quality to be LED, for better light distribution and resolution; better yet would be an OLED but there are major limitations on that technology for a screen this size and battery requirements.

When I saw this the first time, I was thinking what a friend is always telling me about solutions to non-existent problems. Those thoughts faded quickly when I am now able to watch all sorts of content from most all streaming services, plus AppleTV. It seems there's nothing I can't watch on it, and with the built-in browser I can check security cameras, watch auctions on eBay, etc. I was able to use screen mirror from my Apple iPhone 14 Pro, but "Cast" didn't work for my Pixel 5, nor the Samsung S23 Ultra. I didn't investigate beyond the "can't find a device to cast to" or whatever the error was. It would be really great to allow the StanbyME to mirror my phone and control it via the touchscreen. Put that on the wish list too. Setup is easy. They were very smart with the box and packaging, in that the styrofoam in the box helps you install the pole on the base. It made it so easy to align the pole and put the four screws into the bottom of the base. There is a strong warning to only plug the charging cord into the base horizontally, as it can damage the base and/or cord if installed that way. There is an escutcheon around the power plug to assist in reminding you of this. The other end of the power cord is a little wider than a normal plug, so some irregular power plug situations may be a small challenge. I didn't get a pic of that, I suppose I should have. The rest of the installation was simple as well. All the on-screen prompts are clear as to what information is required, and adding a few apps to the home screen, rearranging the home screen, and getting started was all very easy as well. One thing I would put on my wish list for this is a voice remote with speech recognition. Spoken words, numbers, and passwords are so much quicker than the on-screen keyboard (although it works quite well). I took pics of setting it up, assembled, and the remote. It's a very nice looking piece of equipment, and performs just as well. Just goofing around with it for a few days, I only charged it twice including the initial charge. I'm sure I got close to 5 hours of use initially, but much closer to 3 when watching movies from AppleTV. Even so, it was easy enough to plug it in when the battery got low. -

Review of LG StanByMe Unboxing / Setup The StanByMe comes in a large box that is actually used to help set up the device, holding the base and the pole so you can secure those together with the 4 included screws. It made it very easy. The base is heavy enough to inspire confidence that you're not going to be able to accidentally knock it over, and the many wheels on the base make it easy to move around, both on hardwood floor and carpet/rugs. Attaching the monitor wasn't quite as easy, especially getting the single screw for the cable holder attached. It's a small black screw that threads through a small black cable holder into the black back of the monitor. I wish they would have made the back of the monitor white or light gray, anything that would give some contrast. This was my one and only complaint with installation, everything else was a breeze. Testing the device After turning on the device, it connected easily to my WiFi and then downloaded a number of updates both for the system as well as the included apps. After that, it was time to play! I connected to YouTube and watched a number of videos, noting that the video quality is really, really good. The sound though at higher volumes gets really distorted. Not to worry though, it will connect to any Bluetooth speaker, so I connected to my Bose 600 Soundbar and WOW! Now you've got an amazing video screen and top notch audio. I watched a few YouTube videos and then got the crazy idea to try singing along to music videos, which really works out well. The size of the screen makes it easy to read the lyrics, and then with the great sound out of the soundbar, it really feels like a karaoke lounge experience. I then downloaded the LG Thinq app to my Google Pixel 6a phone in order to attempt screen mirroring. Sadly, my phone is not supported for that feature, but the app does allow me to control the StanByMe with my phone (although there is a remote already included). I am considering getting a more recent Samsung phone which I think would have better luck with the mirroring. The base has a built in battery that lasts 3 hours, but of course you can just leave it plugged in. You can adjust the height by simply grabbing the sides of the screen and moving it up and down, and it says where you leave it. You can tilt the device, and even rotate the screen from landscape to portrait mode, or anything in between. The device has all of the expected apps built in: Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, Youtube and Youtube TV just to name a few. It has a fitness app that takes you through various exercises, yoga, and more. There are a few curious shortcomings with this system that I assume they will address in future models: 1) This doesn't include a camera, and I really think it would substantially add to the functionality/use cases for the device. You could then run Skype, Facebook Messenger, and other apps for video calls. Sure, if your phone mirrors to the display successfully you can use your phone, but as noted previously, not all phones work with this device. And then 2) somewhat related to point 1, LG includes a phone holder that clips to the top of the screen, so if you do screen mirroring, you could see what your camera sees. The problem is, the clip that holds the phone to the screen blocks nearly an inch of the screen! They need to re-engineer the phone holder so that the screen isn't obstructed when using the holder. I can think of many use cases for this device just using Youtube: wheel it into the kitchen to follow along on a recipe you like. Wheel it into the laundry room, garage, or anywhere you have something that needs fixing and you've found a video that shows exactly what you need to do, but your phone screen is too small to be useful. Sing karaoke, or play along to a song on your drums or guitar. Use your imagination to unleash the full potential of the StanByMe. Overall, a really fun device with lots of uses, especially if your phone is supported for mirroring. Minor dings for difficulty screwing in the cable holder; the poor sound quality from the built in speakers; and the lack of a camera. A solid 4/5 stars

The LG StandbyME is the ultimate in a flexible viewing experience. Over the past few days, I've had the pleasure of integrating this 27” display on wheels into my day-to-day activities. It's sleek, modern, and easy to use. I've found the LG StandbyME to be most useful in the bedroom, kitchen, and streaming workout activities. The Stand: The pedestal stand was very easy to assemble and provides plenty of confidence. The wheels glide smoothly and quietly across most surfaces. Carpet becomes more challenging since the casters are smaller, so I would recommend sticking with tile, hardwoods, or low-pile carpets/rugs. The screen height and pitch can effortlessly be adjusted using one hand. I do wish the screen had more height but for most use cases, LG has you covered. The Screen: This is there area that could use the most improvement. Viewing angles are fine, and resolution is just, “meh”. I really think this is where a 27” OLED would have been phenomenal. Because of the screen, I would avoid seeking a cinematic experience. But for day-to-day tasks, it works well. The touchscreen is responsive and accurate. The Speakers: For the size, these speakers rock. I've used the StandbyME to stream music and love that I can move it as I move though the house. The Battery: No issues here. The battery will last 2.5-3 hours which is more than enough for any of my use cases. Any time I need to charge, I wheel it over and plug it in. Easy! The Overall: Amazing if you need versatility in a TV. Want to stream content from your phone? Check! Want to watch a show in bed but don't want a tv permanently plastered on the wall? Check! Tired of browsing content on you small phone screen? The LG StandbyME has you covered.

This tv is absolutely nifty in everyday possible. It was easy to set up just need to use the special QR code on the box to watch how to set up. The step to step video made putting this product together on just a few minutes. After setting this tv up it was easy to plug in and also easy to set up with the LG ThinQ app in the Google play app store. With just an app I was able to set up my internet connection and linking my tv with my Gmail account my signing up an account to link all my LG products in one place. With this tv I was able to link my phone to the tv to stream my files to the tv. This tv is great for someone who wants to have a tv moveable anywhere throughout the house without any issues. Great for cooking recipes in the kitchen or to teach your children with. It is like a huge tablet but it was higher quality streaming and you can watch any streaming service with a touch of a button. Easy to move tv and easy to adjust the screen up or down or even sideways. High technology and made with great quality materials. The bottom of the tv is heavy so the tv is secure fully so there is worries about the tv tipping over. The battery is long lasting and recharges quickly. The tv is not bulky so it is easy to store in a room. Great tv and I absolutely love it.

First, the video instruction on how to assemble this was very helpful. The only confusing part is the video looked like you were supposed to twist the pole after you line it up in the base. But what you’re supposed to do is twist the pole so it can line up in the base. Second, the base is the heaviest part. It contains the battery and support so it should be heavy. We don’t have any LG products or appliances so I had to create an account if I needed to install any apps and update. This uses WebOS as the operating system. I deleted apps I didn’t need and downloaded the ones I wanted. I kept YouTube, YouTube TV, and Netflix. I downloaded Plex. There are many other apps available for you to use. The primary use will be to consume content. My wife mainly uses this while she’s trying out recipes in the kitchen. She watches cooking shows and clips on social media. We thought about upgrading our refrigerator with those screens but they seem to be slow and stuck on the fridge door. This StandbyME is mobile. We can roll it around in different areas of the house. The touch screen is very responsive. This also works off batteries so it’s truly mobile and wireless. So far battery life has been fine. The screen can also display in portrait mode for consuming social media content. The 27” screen size is big enough to play games on. When our kids have friends over and we don’t want them inside the house, we roll it outside so they can play in the patio. They play their Nintendo Switch on it. It connects via HDMI plug in the back. What I’m still trying to figure out is how to get karaoke to work on this. We have a mixer and microphone set up. The input in the back is HDMI and USB only. Speakers can connect but via Bluetooth. We have tried YouTube karaoke but no microphone. We just sing out loud but so convenient because we can roll the screen where ever the person singing is. I may try to use our existing karaoke setup and just share screen wirelessly. We’ll have our usual karaoke display and have the StandbyME as a secondary display that will stand next to the singer so the words are closer. This is a great device with many uses. Battery operation makes this so convenient.

A Luxury Tech Toy You Didn’t Know You Need

What is the LG StanbyME? It’s a smart touchscreen TV on a moveable stand with built in battery. The short of it: It does exactly that and it does it well! Let’s start with the set up. The box it arrives in is both large and heavy – the whole thing is roughly 40 lbs. The box is designed to easily help you though, starting with QR code that links you to online videos that guide you through installation. The styrofoam packaging is designed to assist with mounting the polearm to the base – it does this well, but you do need some decent space around you and the box. It comes with everything you need apart from a screwdriver. There are only five total screws for the whole thing. Mounting the screen to the stand itself is also easy and was done fine my be by myself although holding the TV, connecting the power cable, and sliding the TV onto the mount arm would likely be easier with two. I wish the screen at this point had a screen protector on it as I didn’t feel comfortable holding the screen with my hands during this process. However, in less than 30 minutes everything was assembled and charging. After that, it’s your standard new electronic setup: connect it to the internet, update it, download apps, log into said apps. This process is quick and guides you through it easily. Visually, the StanbyME is very attractive. The base, arm, and screen are all well designed and look great. The back of the TV has a fabric covering with an NFT reader on one side and a power button and volume controls on the other. It also includes a cell phone mount that can placed along the sides or top of the unit (depending on your screen orientation – it can do landscape and portrait) and is held in place with magnets. However, the physical remote control seems like an afterthought – there is no holder for it anywhere on the stand or TV. It feels like they could have easily added magnets to the remote to hold it in place on a spot where the phone mount could go. For a TV designed to be moveable, you’d think the option to keep the remote control with it would have been included. Speaking of moving, the wheels in the base make it move easily on hard flooring. On carpet there’s a bit more resistance, but still not terribly difficult to move. You can tilt it while moving for a bit more leverage. The screen itself tilts up and down and moves higher and lower, in addition to change the screen orientation. The whole unit feels weighty, solid, and well built. The screen itself looks great. In my opinion it’s not the best screen around, but that’s not to say this isn’t perfectly acceptable. Along those lines, it doesn’t have the greatest viewing angles, but I don’t think the intent is to have a crowded room all viewing this one screen like a permanent living room television. The sound on it is similar – not the greatest, but nothing really to complain about either. It is worth noting that you can use an external Bluetooth speaker for sound – and via your phone with the LG app, too. There are several options for navigating the smart TV: there’s the physical remote, the touchscreen itself, and if you download the LG app, your phone. The app isn’t strictly needed, but LG does seem to highly encourage its use and it is well designed. The webOS system works swiftly without any lag. Downloads of new apps and updates happened quickly and I’ve encountered no issues with using any of them, although not every app appears to be touch friendly (although you can use the built in touch on screen remote in these cases). If you have an iPhone, you can connect with Airplay and it works flawlessly. If you have an Android, it’s more of a mixed bag. I have a Google Pixel 6 Pro and while I’m able to connect my phone to view media files (pictures, video, photos downloaded on my phone device) as well as cast YouTube videos to the YouTube app, I cannot screen mirror. This is not a problem with every Android phone, but in this case the Pixel phone’s only option for screen mirroring would be via casting your device and the LG StanbyME / webOS is not considered a Google cast device. I can’t lay blame on either LG or Google fully here – both could make their products better to accommodate this. Your Android experience may differ, but it was incredibly disappointing to try to screen cast and see “This feature may not be available depending on devices” pop up on my phone before it, indeed, is not available. If you intended to use that specific functionality, I would do some research on compatibility. On the back of the TV itself is a USB port for media files and an HDMI port for additional devices, such as a computer or game console. I was able to even use my Windows 11 desktop to use it as a wireless monitor, extending my desktop for additional productivity. The NFT reader is designed to quickly get your phone connected for various sharing (screen, media, audio). It works well and is a nice feature. Using the apps, such as Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, etc work exactly like you’d expect them to. There are several built in LG apps, such as the LG Channels that display when you turn the unit on that are fine. The app store has all the major players you’d expect for video streaming. Okay, now comes the subjective part of my review: I think this is a great machine. You would be surprised once it’s in your home where you find yourself using it. Near the dining table while eating, a second monitor for the laptop, near the kitchen while cooking, into the guest room where there is no permanent TV, into the bathroom for videos while taking a bath. It really does solve a problem that you didn’t have. However, I feel this is entirely a luxury item and a relatively pricy one at that. For far cheaper, you could get a cart with a VESA mount to mount your own TV/monitor and achieve nearly the same thing, assuming you also solve the battery part. It, however, also wouldn’t look nearly as nice. I wish that the LG StanbyME would allow you to use your own monitor – as this would give you far more versatility while still maintaining the aspect that shines the most: the stand/battery itself. While I recommend the LG StanbyME, it’s with the caveat that this is purely a luxury item at a luxury price. It’s definitely an item that you could really take advantage of – and it’s fun! My partner has discovered scrolling TikTok on it and I already am thinking about more ways to take advantage of its portability and bringing a smart screen to any area of my home I can think of. It’s a very neat tech toy but also one you can also likely easily live without. If you are thinking this is for you, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

    Elegant Wireless TV on Wheels

LG StandbyME is a wireless TV/monitor that can rotate, tilt, swivel and can be rolled to different rooms around home with ease. It has a built-in 74wh battery at the base that last up to 3 hours. Received it last week and got a chance to use on daily basis for over a week and here is my honest take about this product. Whats in the box: Stand, remote, remote batteries, 27inch LG monitor/TV, power cable, mobile holder, quick start guide. Unboxing / Installation: It comes with a large heavy box(see picture) with handle to move around for installation. Upon unboxing all contents were intact in Styrofoam packing. Stand needs installation with the base unit. Base unit is heavy and when attached to the pole/stand it weigh approximately 28 pounds. Stand attaches to the base with 4 screws(included) and once done just attach the monitor carefully to the stand and attach the cord at the back. Make sure you follow the instructions when attaching the cable on the back and ensure the monitor attaches firmly. Its very similar to attaching the computer monitor to its included stand but with the wrap around cable for wireless functionality. Setup: Once installation is complete and power adapter connected to the base, power the tv on by pressing the power button on the back. It has got a cream color textured soft touch fabric back with white stand that easily complements any room. Once turned on for the first time, it directs step by step inputs like zip code for channels, and QR code for mobile app setup and software upgrade. You can download the apps like Netflix, Spotify, amazon video, YouTube, Hulu and enter the credentials to gain full access. The TV can be adjusted to multiple option. You can rotate to a full 180 degrees to use it as portrait mode or tilt vertically. You can also swivel and tilt for height adjustments. Screen can go as high as 50 inches. Display, sound & features: Display is 27 inches IPS panel with a resolution of 1920X1080 @60Hz, touch capable and supports few features like HDR10 Pro, image enhancing, AI Upscaling. It’s powered by A7 Gen4 processor. Not sure why LG didn’t go for 4K on this model when they have included all the features on this small tv. Clarity of the display is good and no complains. It has got a 2-channel side firing speaker sound system with 10watts of power that sounds good with highs and mids are clear. It does fill the entire room of 15X 15 well and sounds good at moderate volume level. If the speakers are not that good for your taste, just pair a Bluetooth speaker like Bose or Sonos and enjoy the display. On the back it has got soft tab housing that has a single HDMI 1.4 port for connecting media players or firestick and a USB-A 2.0 for flash drive or external keyboard or mouse. Also on the back is a NFC reader that will allow to wirelessly mirror content from your phone, tablet or laptop. Just tap the device against the NFC logo and get connected instantly. Works great on android devices. Back also has few rubberized buttons for power, volume up/down. When it comes to software, StandbyME runs on webOS 6.0, LG’s Smart TV operating Systems. It has got support for apple Airplay 2 where you can just stream your content from your iPhone directly. Battery life is advertised for 3 hours, however even with 70% brightness and medium volume it was around 2:30 minutes and it depends on various operating conditions like brightness and volume. It takes 4 hours to fully recharge. Considering the size of base, LG should have fit more juice in there easily when laptops, tablets and phones are optimized for battery. Touchscreen is not that responsive sometimes and selects wrong list when tapped on. It does happen few times and for most part it works well. Included remote is good to operate if touchscreen is not an option. Watched few movies and the picture and sound quality are excellent. My kids were moving around the house including backyard (we live in a single-story house) and were really thrilled to experience the new gadget. My youngest one used over the weekend for her baking sessions and for watching cooking channels on YouTube. Until now, they were watching it on portal plus (15inch screen) but this one is to next level on wheels. Great use cases if you want to move the display from one room to another in ease. Pros: Elegant and beautiful design Great sound Supports top streaming apps Roll with it from room to room Airplay 2 and NFC support to wirelessly mirror content Cons: Low resolution, wish it had 4k Smaller battery capacity Less ports No camera or microphone. Overall, this will be a great addition to anyone looking for an elegant TV on wheels to watch contents and have video calls using the mobile with included mobile holder. Its fun to use and an obvious choice for entertaining kids.

Best feature is its portability. Its easy to move around and looks great. It looks very clean and modern compared to other options. Apps are easy to install and the picture looks good. Not a great picture but its still clear and i didnt expect it to be amazing for the size of this tv. Your paying more for the option to charge it and to be able to move it around. Battery lasted about 3 1/2 hours on our first use. The speakers could be better. The volume needs to be turned up almost all the way to hear it clearly. You dont hear the sound in front of you like a mounted tv. The sound distributes to the left and righ of the tv, if that makes sense. Overall i think i can put this to use, but still undecided if i will keep it or return it.

The LG StanbyME has quickly become one of my favorite tech purchases. The 27” Full HD display is bright and perfect for everything I need it for. I love the convenience of the built-in battery and fully adjustable stand—I can roll it around the house, tilt or rotate it for the perfect viewing angle.

Was looking for an option for an outdoor / remote TV, and came across this beauty. The design is different, and at first my wife wasn't sold on the unit. However after a week of owning it, and using it on the deck and being able to move it about the house, has changed her mind! Now we have a great option for watching TV on the deck, and it's light enough for us to move around the house. Sound is good for it's size, and it can get pretty loud. Not Home Theater sound, but good enough. Picture quality is great, and we've gotten about 3 hours of use with the built in battery. Overall, we love the purchase!
