This device is a solid piece of technology. Opens and closes quickly and quietly. Reads quickly, too.

Fundamentally this is a good external drive that works well. However understand that it is BIG compared to other models with fewer features or capability. So if you need to burn higher capacity DVD's at high speed, this is a excellent choice. However, if you only need an external drive to load programs or files onto you device that no longer has a CD/DVD drive included and you want to throw it in your bag, take a look at a lower cost simpler drive.

With new computers without DVD drives, the external drive is a necessity for playing games on old disks.

This was a Buy I could not pass up. My son is building a computer and I thought with the speed, this was a perfect match

When the CD reader/writer broke on my laptop I purchased this "external" reader/writer. It has been easy to learn how to use and works great.

I picked this model not because of its size as there are many that are much smaller, but rather for its speed... my requirement didn't warrant a smaller one, but I might use it more often if it was smaller. That being said, it is performing as needed and I am quite pleased with the product.

Since iMac has no CD/DVD slot, I bought this to enable those functions. It has performed well for over 3 years.

My laptop does not have a built in DVD burner. This one does a great job, no extra drivers need to be installed. Has good speed also.

I am a meditation teacher and needed an easy way to burn CD's for me to sell to my students. I burnt through my internal cd drive in my laptop, an external little one and knew i would destroy another little one. I decided to pay a little more and see how many CD's i could burn before i burnt through another one. So far so good. Ive made about 20 CD's now.

As described, plugged right in and was ready to use in minutes. Does a nice job, good value for the money
