Seems to work but boy it is chunky!

It works as expected and advertised, which is a normal things but also a good thing. If you need a secondary drive, I would recommend to get this one, instead of adding an internal drive. Easy to handle and it can be easily connected to a new PC if you replace a desktop. Internal drives are not that easy, compared to external ones.

Easy to use but lacks software

I plugged it into a laptop and a desktop computer and Windows immediately recognized it. However, there doesn't seem to be any burning software (it IS a DVD burner after all). You get a label printer app and there are trial versions of some other software, but no burning software (the box leads one to think that it includes free burning software of some kind). I paid the extra for this unit over another external burner/drive because I thought this one had the burning software. Now I guess I'll have to go buy a burning app before I can burn any discs.
