Overall ok burner but drivers don't help to play back DVD movies

it works for what I need but it didn't want to set up so easily

This is the second LG unit I have used. The first read or write the first time. This unit will not write to some new disks. Second try or a new disk will work most of the time. Do not understand what the problem is. I am about to return the unit for a new one.

I love everything about this product except , For the writing part. It leaves lines on the back of the disc . Preventing a quality if any playback. Would not recommend if you are going to use it for burning to a disc.

In 2016, this is one of the very few full-sized desktop-style external DVD drives still available. A better bet for handling your DVDs and CDs without having to deal with the clumsiness of slim, laptop drives (some of which can actually lightly scratch your discs). Needs external power and isn't fit for traveling, but a robust drive that knows how to read and burn discs like a champ. Model number is actually GE24NU40. Highly recommended.

I expected a simple to use external DVD player, however, this is to complicated to figure out, it's not a plug and play device. I plan to return this item to the store.

Worked for around a month then it stoped working. I called tech support at Best Buy and the guy told me to try it on another computer. I tried it on my laptop and it did not work.Tech support wasn't much of a help.

Im glad I didn't read any reviews before I purchased this or I would have thought twice. I bought this for my new Touchsmart because I burn a lot of CD's and wanted to go easy on the internal disc driver. I brought this home pluged it in and burned a CD in 3 minutes flat. I download lots of live concerts and burn alot of CD's and this was super simple. Didnt install any programs from the disc. It plugged in and it read the driver and that was it. It DOES come with a USB cord and the power plug has a piece that clips on for the prongs. Its not a foreign adapter. My camera adapter is like that with an piece you clip on for the prongs. You have to turn it on on the back. I dont burn a lot of DVDs but for a CD it took 2 minutes. I was worried that I would have to install something for it to work. Taking it out of the box was the hardest part. It is really plug and go. My computer already had the Power2go burning program and I am getting to like it more than Roxio. Didn't intall anything from the disc. Hope this answers some questions.

Very easy to set up and use. works flawlessly and runs quietly. I have ripped and burned 25 to 30 discs since i bought it back in mid-December, and have had know issues.

Bought it today. Hooked it up to my 27" iMac and device was recognized instantly. Easy hook-up. Inserted a Seinfeld DVD, and played 2 shows. I then burned 45 songs from my iTunes onto a CD to give to a friend who thinks it's still 1998. I did not have to install any software to do this. It's big and bulky by today's standards, but it worked right out of the box.

The header says it all. Despite repeated attempts, my HP wouldn't recognize it as being attached. Boxed it up and returned it to the store.

I'm using this to rip my CD collection. It's plenty fast which is why I bought it. However, I'm mad that the description didn't say that it requires 120V power. The power adapter is included but they conveniently didn't mention that in the list of items included in the box.... or in the specs....

Not working on our new Windows ten update so not able to really use at this point

Powered up but just wouldn't do anything. Not sure but it may have been because I had on a Mac.....Maybe I don't know. Bought the Apple CD drive instead.

Had to purchase a new drive when my internal drive failed so instead of installing a new one in the machine I purchased this worked out great..

Returned to store as it was not what I wanted...Was informed wrong

After some trial-error, realized this LG made more sense than the lower cost, portable burners. The unit is much faster than the portables, and it will no doubt be more durable and stable. Having now used the drive to upload approx 300 CDs in rapid succession, the LG drive held its own without any issue or hiccup. For the few extra $$$, buy this instead of a portable. Your time is worth it!

I have an older IMac and I was very upset because I bought the more expensive Apple USB Superdrive and it did not work....I was told by employees at the Apple Store the previous day that the drive would work even on my older IMac but they lied! I took it back to Apple and then went to Best Buy and purchased the LG....All I had to do was plug and burn! Very happy with the drive and it's fast also!!....I know that its bulky but honestly I'd rather have bulky and sturdy then thin and flimsy!!!
