This is a great plug and play external for Mac. USB 2.0 cord is included along with a separate power source cord. Setup was simple for me; just plug it in. I purchased this drive primarily for Light Scribe as I was getting tired of writing labels with a Sharpie. Burn speed and accuracy for DVD and CD is great; I've burned 20 discs in the past few days with no problems. Light Scribe quality is better than I expected, however, burn times with graphics or pictures are longer than I would like. Simple text burns like album titles and tracks is very quick.

i purchased this external dvd burner to play dvds on my old xp cpu. i then had installed it on my laptop (8.1 windows). i placed a dvd movie in the unit and nothing happened. my toshiba laptop said regional error (which means not compatible with this external unit. i did not give up hope. i then went online and downloaded a highly rated media player called vlc 64 bit. it says will play dvd/cds, even damaged discs. i then placed a dvd movie in the lg external unit. and to my surprise it worked. the sound and picture quality is even better than my optical drive dvd player on this laptop. so yes , this external lg optical drive does play dvd movies at high quality.

I recently was throw for a loop when I discovered on the packaging and documentation that the system requirements were for a Pentium 4 3.4 GHz or higher. My PC has a Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.93GHz. I went through with the install and found no problems after burning several DVDs. Everything works like a charm and I am extremely happy. You might have to download a codec for it to function properly but after that it is very easy to use.

This DVD burner is awesome. I burn hundreds of DVDs and the DVD burner in my computer started to fail and was producing coasters. So I purchased this item and the problem is resolved. I use mostly dual layer discs to record movies. All of the recorded discs now burn successfully with no errors. I am so excited. No more wasted discs. A+++

This driver takes up very little space, it is real easy to use, and it quick to start the cd or dvd.

I plugged this into the USB port, used the tray button to open it, placed a DVD into the tray, closed it, and it immediately sensed the drive and began playing the movie. Since I just hooked it up, I have yet to burn a disc, but I thought you might like to know that it is iMac compatible.

The drive works fine, reads very fast. The included software bundle is junk though.

Haven't had a chance to use it much yet. Plugged it into my MacBook and it works. No software needed, just plug it in. Burned seven disks with it and no problems. The unit is quite compared to the last burner I had. This thing is built well and easy to use with Mac.

This is the 3rd DVD player I have purchased for my laptop, hopefully the last. It works great so far and seems sturdier than my prior portable players.

Good solid external drive. It's powered by an adapter but it works amazing.

Record using memorex dvd. It wouldn't record, and kept shutting off. Was going to return after calling LP. Saw a review here that memorex disks don't work. Thought I would try update memorex firmware/drivers from web. I have no trouble recording now and update was free.

Bought as aux hardware for laptop without a DVD-R. Unit works fine so far.

OYE! I needed a way to Light scribe Music Cd's in a pinch between my Studio & Others... Lightscibe image works best in Normal mode. Draft image too light, and Best takes too long. Found it works best in 3.0 connector. -The Blond One-

Works fine. Had to buy this to go with a laptop that had no optical drive. Does the job.

LG has great products and if you're someone with a Mac or PC without a Disc Drive, Lg's got the perfect External Drive at a great price!

I purchased this burner for my older to make DVD's. It did the trick and was easy to install and the added software was also easy to use. Great for the price!! I would recommend this to friends and family.
