I got this to burn music with and save my laptop all that work and what a great product I found here. This thing makes short work of music CD's, it will burn your average length cd in about 8 to 9 minutes. It really just rips right through them can burn an entire library so fast. Solid product works great, comes with power cable and USB cable. Stop shopping buy this burner.

It works and needed for my desktop computer to store my backup files.

All I needed was a disc drive that worked for music and installing certain programs. If I'm burning a disc, I keep the burn setting slow, so there's really no issue. Even ripping music isn't so bad, but when I installed Microsoft office, this thing sounded like a jet engine. I know it's advertised as a 24x drive, but it's not worth using it at that speed. Also, mechanism and plastics just seem a little cheap. This is easily the cheapest 5.25" optical drive I've ever used. Thankfully, it works for my applications.

I bought this as a replacement item. It works. What more can I say? It is both a CD and DVD reader/writer.

It installs easily, and works. Just be prepared to use different software for playing dvd's with windows 8. VLC or XMBC work

A very cost effective replacement for a CD/DVD burner that went bad on my Dell desktop. Good software as well came with the hardware

Reads and writes CDs and DVDs OK but it's kind of noisy and occassionally won't write a DVD correctly.

I thought I ordered a lg lightscribe dvdrw atleast that's what the pic looked like well 4 days later it arrived not the same model as on website doesn't even do lightscribe I paid way to much for a simple dvd burner that should of cost only 20 bucks beware of what you think your buying

Got first DVD drive from this company on 12/5/13. It stopped working 12/9/13 (may have been earlier but this is when I tried to install something again.) Returned it to Best Buy (thanks for the easy return) and picked up a replacement on 12/10/13. This one allowed me to install Starcraft II, but then promptly stopped reading any and all discs/dvds and wouldn't even show they were in the drive. We checked all connectors and tried running a troubleshooter. Connectors are fine and troubleshooter won't run because it says the drive is working fine. Since when is a DVD R/W working fine when it doesn't read DVDs or Discs? Will not be getting this brand again.

All of the specifications in the listing state that this has an EIDE interface while it in fact is a SERIAL ATA interface. Wasted precious gasoline and two hours in NYC crosstown traffic.

Worked great and trouble free for a couple months then stopped burning correctly. Exchanged for another identical model and same thing happened. These are apparently inherently problem ridden or just cheap junk. Not only wastes time but wastes blank discs because of burning issues. AVOID at all costs!
