I bought this to replace my old drive. It works rather well. Installation was easy.

I needed a good DVD/CD player/recorder for a new PC build. While I wanted something that could play and record BluRay, this was the best that was instore when I needed something like right now. Just as any DVD/CD player/recorder, this thing is noisy when recording. During playback, you can barely hear it. The supplied software enables you to record DVD's. Without it, this is just an ordinary CD player/recorder.

Pro: 1. Item is plug and play and no problems installing and hooking up. 2. Perfect color that I needed. 3. Comes with media disc with drivers. Cons: 1. It does not have an ejection socket in the back for my computer ejection cable to plug in. However, disc can be ejected normally from the front button.

The DVD is fast and reliable. I needed to replace a defective drive and this functioned perfectly.

My DVD read/write drive went wonky on me, wouldn't write. I got the replacement from my nearest Best Buy, brought it home, and installed it. Except for figuring out how the covers came off the computer, it was a very simple job. Remove the mounting screws, unplug the two cables, install the cables on the new unit, put the screws in, put the covers back on.... It worked first try.

Although we still use CD-ROM as a means to install programs from manufacturers, play DVD's on our computer, or otherwise, I do believe its days are numbered ... but STILL a necessity today. The read speeds are largely maxed out on these drives and the technology has reached its cap. I still believe prices will come down more in the future due to their obsolescence prospectives.

A good quality CD player I recommend to a friend easy to set up

It’s a good DVD/ CD Drive I had it nearly 8 months. The only downside of it is the noise coming from it while working beside my 5 fans noise is annoying that’s the only reason I give it only 4.5 stars but I still recommend it for doing its function well and it’s good price.
