INITIAL SET-UP
The LG Tone Free app installed easily and without issue on my Galaxy phone. The app opened and immediately recognized my ear buds, pairing them and syncing without issue. As an added bonus, the ear buds shipped needing no immediate firmware update to operate properly. This was a huge win, as I cannot remember the last time I got tech that didn't need an update before use
The iOS implementation of the software was lacking. Even after unpairing the buds from my phone, it took me several attempts to get my iPad to recognize and pair with the LG's. After a few attempts and and app restarts, the buds paired and I have not experienced any additional issues. One great feature of the LG Tone Free app is the ability to switch between previously paired devices from within the app. It still needs a little help getting all the bugs worked out, but it works decently and it is very convenient when it does work.
USE
The LG Tone Free T90 ear buds have a lot of built in technology compared to their competition. Some of it works better than others, so I'll start with what works well.
First is the ability to charge the ear buds wirelessly or wired. I wish all manufacturers included this feature with their ear buds, the added versatility and convenience is great. LG claims a playback time of up to 9hrs with the buds and up to 27 hours including the charging case.
Speaking of charging case, the LG design is impressively small and lightweight. Smaller than any other ear bud cases I currently own. On top of that, when the case is charging with the buds inside, LG has included a UV-C light that cleans 99.99% of the bacteria that may be growing on the tips.
The Active Noise Cancellation built into the T90's works well. The LG app includes a test track to ensure proper fitment of their buds. After completing the fitment test, I found the ambient noise cancellation worked very well at drowning out most outside annoyances. They eliminated almost 100% of the ambient hotel room noise during testing, effectively drowning out the droning from the A/C from my hotel room. The T90's are impressively light and comfortable during extended use.
The T90's include audio technology engineered by Meridian. Meridian is a long established company in the audio business. LG tapped their expertise in creating custom EQ and ambience settings. Some sound better than others, but I have found the Immersive setting to be a great compromise of increased spaciousness of the sound stage without too much over exaggeration of the environment.
NEGATIVES
As much tech as the T90's have packed into them, some of it just isn't quite ready yet.
I'm a fan of Dolby Atmos. The ability to add height information to the audio stream is great. The added spaciousness it adds to a movie or game can take it from average to extraordinary. I use it whenever it is an available option in my home theater and during gaming sessions with a good set of headphones. The T90's include Dolby Atmos and Dolby Head Tracking technology, which should be a great addition, unfortunately, it sounds better on paper than in actual implementation. Turning on Atmos doesn't do much to improve or increase the sound stage. Worse yet is the head tracking technology. I was excited to try a set of ear buds with this feature thinking it would be an awesome experience. Less than 30 seconds into the test, I was over it. The changes to the spatial positioning are too aggressive with just a little head movement changing the sound stage too drastically. I am always searching to get that sweet spot back.
I don't know how LG got up to 9 hours of battery life. It must have been with no Active Noise Cancellation and with the sound being barely audible. I listened to 3 songs with Active Noise Cancellation turned on and my battery life had decreased from 100% to 86%. 14% in less than 15 minutes does not equate to 9 hours. Battery life is poor.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I really wanted to like the T90's. They have a lot of features packed into them and include some impressive technologies. Meridian designed audio, Dolby Atmos, ANC, wired / wireless charging, germ killing UV light, etc.
However, when it comes down to it, sound is everything. The LG's just don't have the audio quality that their competition has. I am fortunate to own headphones or earbuds from many different manufacturers from many different price points. The LG T90's fall short of the similarly priced pieces from other manufacturers. Had I not had the opportunity to audition many of the other products from LG's competitors, I may feel differently. While my other ear buds may have less than half the tech baked into them that the T90's have, they sound drastically better and much truer to the original source. Add poor battery life to the T90's mediocre sound quality and this one is a miss for now.

The LG - Tone Free T90Q are very good. The sound quality is clean, crisp and clear. The set up was very simple, and Bluetooth picked it up very quick. The LG Tone Free mobile app makes it very simple to control the sound quality. The Dolby head tracking is very cool depending how you move your head it makes it seem like the sound is coming from a different place. Bass quality is awesome and sounds great it doesn't break up even when loud. They look very nice and with the color they have can be easily concealed. They fit the ear very comfortably and can be set up with noise canceling if needed. I often use them when outdoors mowing the property and the noise from the machines no longer bothers me and i am able to enjoy the music while doing yard work. The machines can vbe very load and these earbuds really do make a difference. The charging case is nice and small that it can be carried in your pocket with no issue. The one thing that I really enjoyed is the sound quality and how simple it was to set up to my phone. I less than 5 minutes I was able to use the earbuds to answer calls and listen to my favorite music. I would say these are one of the best earbuds i have owned so far.

These wireless in-ear earbuds are competitive to other wireless earbuds in the market. They fit comfortably in your ear and the sound quality is excellent. I have small ears and finding earbuds that fit my ears comfortably is difficult for me. However, these in-ear earbuds fit my ears perfectly and don't feel uncomfortable for me to wear on a daily basis. They are great for when I'm on the treadmill and I don't want my earbuds to slip out, or when I'm running errands and want to take some wireless earbuds along with me! The battery life is typical of most wireless earbuds of the same nature. One charge will last you a fair amount of time. The charging case is a bit on the larger side, but still compact enough to store in your purse, bag, backpack, etc. I enjoy using these earbuds for casual music listening or even for listening to audiobooks. I feel the quality is superb for anyone who wants to purchase their first pair of wireless earbuds and doesn't want to compromise on quality or aesthetics.

Best true wireless earbuds I've used so far

The LG T90Q "Tone Free" wireless earbuds are the 9th pair of "true wireless" earbuds that I have used so far. They are the 3rd LG bluetooth headphone set I've used, including the original Tone and the Tone Flex from a few years ago. After a bit over a week with the LG Tone Free earbuds, I'm happy to say these are the best "true wireless" set that I have listened to, and the best LG Tone headphones I have used as well.
The T90Q Tone Free earbuds pack a ton of features into their tiny little box. The case itself is notable in that it packs a ton of features including some I haven't had before. Wireless charging isn't a unique feature of course, and it's almost a requirement on a pricey set of wireless earbuds. The T90Q works just fine with a few different brands of wireless charger throughout my house. Two features that stand out as unique on the T90Q case are the built in UV lights which sanitize your earbuds while they are charging. UV may not get rid of any earwax, but at least it's killing any bacteria that may be living on your earbuds. Kudos, LG! The T90Q also has the ability to connect to non BT 5.0 devices by using a special cable included in the box, which connects the case to a standard 3.5mm headphone jack so you can use your earbuds without having to pair them to a device. I think this could be a great feature for those who might want to use their earbuds with an older device, or with the seat audio jack on a long flight. Finally, the low latency game mode is AWESOME and easy to activate. I love using these with my gaming laptop.
I found the overall sound of the Tone Free T90Q to be remarkable for a wireless earbud set. I did have a little trouble getting the right size earpads for my ears (helpful feature in the app for this, which will tell you if there is not a good seal and recommend changing the pads). Once I got that part dialed in, and played around with the various EQ settings, I ended up deciding that the Meridian "Immersive" setting was the one for me. My favorite demo song for earbuds is "Shame" by the Avett Brothers - the earbuds should have a nice wide, airy soundstage in the opening of the song. They should be harsh or tiring with the vocals and banjo. And when the upright bass comes in, there should be a deep bass that you can feel, not just hear. The T90Q earbuds met all these criteria easily. I even did a torture test with Kendrick Lamar's "DNA." and was surprised that they could handle the constant 40hz tone of the back half of the song. They aren't going to win any SPL competitions, but they still managed to reproduce the bass as well as any earbud could expect given their size. Kudos, LG!
The Dolby Atmos and Head Tracking feature was a bit of a mixed bag for me due to my own mismanaged expectations. The head tracking feature DOES work, and quite well, and it's a great mode for streaming Atmos audio from your phone. For some unknown reason I was hyping this in my head as an amazing gaming feature. I was disappointed, at least with Windows gaming. The head tracking doesn't seem to work in conjunction with the Atmos for headphones feature that you get with the Dolby app or games like Overwatch 2. It basically ruined the Atmos "3D sound" effect when enabled. With my phone watching movies that include Atmos tracks, it was a very different and cool experience. I was tempted to take points off for the lack of synergy with Atmos in Windows games, but I don't think that's something that LG is actively pushing in the marketing so I think it's just my own expectations which were wrong.
So all that said, perfect score from me. I love these earbuds, and I finally feel that I have a set which are completely without compromise for travel. Bravo, LG!

Perfect fit for my ears

Putting on the ear buds for the first time already gave me a good impression. I have an odd shaped left ear canal that makes a lot of earbuds cause pain after 30min. The way the LG Tone's fit, I knew these were going to be very comfortable for me.
Pairing was simple after downloading the app - kudos to LG for not forcing an account to be made to use the earbuds. After pairing, I was good to go. The initial profile is waaaay heavy on the bass so it gives a bad impression that they're marketing these buds to a non-audiophile crowd or they would have picked a better default. For me "immersive" was the sweetspot. I didn't tweak the EQ and played everything at default.
Immersive seriously had me thinking I was wearing open back headphones instead of IEM's. The soundstage opened up and surrounded me in sound. The other settings put the sound in front of you, but immersion put you in the sound. What ever wizardry they came up with is impressive.
ANC is decent. I was able to dull the sound of a window AC and floor fan running at the same time. Using passthrough was nice also where it allowed me to hear everything going on while having music in the backgroud. Prefect if they allowed us to listen to music at work.
The Atmos directional sound is neat, but I can't really find a use for it. The sound is as good as Immersion, but if you turn your head the sound stays where it was. If you turn your head to the right, the sound will pan to you left so it still sounds like it's coming from your original position - kinda like if you were really listening to a speaker. After a few seconds it'll recenter itself to your new position. Like I said, it's neat but I can't think of a use for it yet.
Definitely one of my favorite earbuds. I'm almost looking forward to spring to see how the ANC handles a yard tracker's sound.

Product didn't last a year

Good when they still worked. I bought these having had good experiences with LG products in the past. I was disappointed when the left earbud stopped working and factory resets did not work. After looking online, this is a common problem with this model (left bud stops working). I expected this product to last more than eight months at the time of purchase.
