Customers recognize the UltraGear 27" IPS LED QHD monitor's exceptional picture quality, high refresh rate, and vibrant colors as significant strengths. Many appreciate its value for the price and the effective performance of its G-Sync and FreeSync compatibility. However, some users point to the HDR's dimness and the monitor stand's design as potential drawbacks. A few also mentioned issues with IPS glow, though this is often considered inherent to IPS panel technology.

This is the best monitor I've used. The colors are noticeably better than my old monitors, and the 144 hz works well. HDR is not great on this, but it's been good for SDR content. HDR doesn't look noticeably worse than SDR though.
I don't recommend using an HDMI cable with this as the Variable refresh rate can't go over 100hz. It also doesn't support HDMI 2.1, so this may not be the best choice for new consoles.
The monitor stand is sturdy, but does not swivel. The monitor and stand must be lifed to change it's angle.

Fantastic monitor. Got it on sale for $399. For that price it is a steal. Running this monitor on a RTX 2080. Easily maxing out at 1440p/144. The few games that hoover in the low 100fps run buttery smooth. Below is my list of pros and cons:
Pros:
-Nvidia GSync compatible, works flawlessly
-Highly adjustable stand
-Slick and minimal. The big red ring on the back is not visible so doesn't ruin the aesthetic.
-Fantastic color out of box
-Bright monitor and HDR compatible but not TV level good as this only hits 350nits
-Response time is phenomenal with 0 ghosting running normal from 60-144hz(none of my game dio below 60fps so can't comment on it)
Cons:
-Poor contrast, blacks look dark gray
-Not ideal for content creators
-Some light bleed on the edges especially on the lower left corner
Final thoughts: excellent monitor for anyone using a 2000 or 3000 series cards. GSync is flawless and response time is fantastic. Perfect for console gaming

A little expensive but is totally worth it. The colors are nice and vibrant, the refresh rate makes everything buttery smooth, and the size is a nice step up from the 24's I had before. The only thing that is lacking a bit in the HDR. I may have to fiddle with the setting a bit more but I can't really see a difference with it enabled aside from the screen getting brighter. All in all it may deserve a four star rating but the colors blew me away which makes up for the only downside.
Inside the box are an HDMI cable, Display Port cable, and the necessary screws to mount it to a vesa mount if you decide not to use the stand.

I bought this monitor as a birthday present based on a recommendation from LTT. So far it is great! The HDR struggles at times. It sometimes overly dims a game which requires shifting out of the game and back into it to correct. Playing around with full screen vs full screen windowed fixes the issue on most games. The high refresh rate is great for FPS (Overwatch, Boarderlands 3) and really enjoyable for the casual Minecraft session or MMORPG (WoW, RIft). My GTX 1080 struggles to match the refresh rate supported on some games but the monitor is GSync enable so play looks amazing! I chose between this and a Samsung G7. Owning only Samsung TV and Monitors until now, including a newer QLED, I still went with this monitor as the price per performance sat better with my soul and wallet. GLHF!

For those of you questioning whether or not to invest into this monitor, let me share my whole experience with this product so far starting with the packaging.
-Packaging of this monitor seems more than secure for shipping. Includes an A/C adapter, HDMI/display port and a disk manual which can be found online.
-Setting up the monitor is quite simple as it's more of a "put this here" mechanism when connecting the monitor to the bulky stand. You are only required to tighten two screws for the stands but no tools are required as the screws allow you to tighten with your fingers. From there its practically a "plug and play" experience. Don't forget to enable G-sync (With NVIDIA GPUs) and set the refresh rate higher. Mine came preset at 60HZ.
-The size of the stand measures around 12" wide. I have a 25" wide desk and it almost takes up half of that space with the stand alone. The panel is pushed more towards the front legs.
-You can not push the monitor in and out but are able to adjust the height and tilt the monitor vertically/horizontally.
-Comes with LG's 1 year manufacturer warranty, but you are able to extend this protection when registering the product on LG's website.
-$50 cheaper and uses the same panel as the LG 27GL850. Easy to use control panel and UI with custom power, panel, and audio settings.
I'm not much of a professional when it comes to critiquing displays but it looks pretty dang good to me when I play and watch videos in 1440P. You can customize different presets for games and switch between them through the UI called (Game mode). Presets include FPS, RTS, VIVID, READER, HDR, sRGB. Comes with other adjusters such as picture, game and input adjusters.
In overall, I'd say this is good quality monitor worth the investment for all of those that aren't obsessed with getting 120Hz over 100Hz. I've had a great experience so far coming from a 1080p 22" Samsung TV. Great product for upgrading!

I've been using this monitor for 3 years now and I can say it was worth the value. It was exactly what I wanted to be: slightly lower than 4K resolution for competitive gaming, brilliant colors (thanks to IPS and nano coatings), and a brisk refresh rate (all at a reasonable price).
My only complaint is that the stand kind of sucks because it can only rotate about one axis (portrait-to-landscape, not left to right).

Great gaming monitor, beautiful picture all around at 1440p and decent viewing angles. The stand it comes with is big but sturdy, I ended up mounting it on an arm with another 27” monitor. I only wish the stand it came with was more adjustable horizontally but it’s good.

This monitor is basically perfect for gaming. It has a 1440p QHD resolution, 144hz, 2 HDMI 2.0, a DisplayPort, and it's IPS with beautiful colors. It's exactly the same as the GL850-B just without the USB ports so you might as well get this one if you won't use those and save 50 bucks. It works great with the Xbox Series X and I run it at 1440p 120hz. The colors are really phenomenal and the monitor is actually what it should be. The way I see it, all other monitors underperform and this monitor is exactly what all should be. Great monitor and if you can get it for under 449 then I think that's perfect.

This is going to be a long read so if you just want a simple answer as to why you should get this look at another reviewer. I think for people spending this much amount of money on a monitor that should last a couple of years, a few minutes reading about why they’re spending their money on this vs all the other options is fair.
So After spending weeks researching and learning about monitors and what sets each of them apart, I ended up purchasing this one and I think I made the right choice.
Some background, I play games competitively and for the past year or so I’ve been using the BenQ XL2546 (500$), which is the undisputed king of competitive gaming monitors. It boasts a 240HZ TN panel with <5 MS response times and an exclusive blur reduction feature called DyAc, which makes for a buttery smooth FPS experience. However, the biggest drawback of this king of kings is also its biggest advantage, it’s TN panel.
There are 3 types of panels a monitor can have. TN, VA, and IPS.
TNs have excellent response times, but really bad colors and poor viewing angles (response time is how fast a pixel changes colors. so if you’re in a game looking at some trees and move, a faster response time means the trees go from one position to the next with barely any blur as they move across your screen)
VAs have really great blacks and whites because of high contrast ratio and average viewing angles however they have abysmal response times and ghosting which is why for gaming they are largely avoided. Personally I’ve experienced a few VA panels and they’ve all been a blurry mess, this might change with Samsung’s Odyssey line but only time will tell. (contrast ratio is the difference between the brightest white a pixel can display and darkest black)
IPSs have accurate colors, fantastic viewing angles, and low response times (not as fast as TN), however they generally suffer from really poor contrast ratios and something called backlight bleed which is a bright glow usually in the corners of the screen. It completely varies on how bad backlight bleed is, on some panels it’s non existent and others it’s really bad. Most of the time it’s the former so generally it’s not a concern.
Now that you know about what sets each panel apart, we can get into what makes this monitor so great. Unlike other IPS monitors, this one uses a Nano-IPS display, which at first may seem like a marketing gimmick but in reality is actually what ends up making this thing so special.
First, you get all the benefits of regular IPS as listed above. So great viewing angles, accurate consistent colors and good response times. Nano-IPS on the other hand allows this display to have more saturated, vibrant colors due to it utilizing 98% of the DCI-P3 color space (the cinema standard) compared to regular IPS which only utilizes sRGB color space. Now, some people argue this is bad because a lot of content utilizes the sRGB color space, so most of the content you use on here will end up being over-saturated giving you slightly inaccurate colors compared to a regular IPS. However, LG foresaw this being an issue so they added an extra preset in the monitor that disables the DCI-P3 color gamut and gives you the default sRGB color gamut if you want it. In my opinion, the DCI-P3 color gamut is what makes this monitor shine as colors look so much more vivid and pretty compared to regular sRGB, but if you truly need those accurate colors for photo editing LG gives you the option to disable it. Nano-IPS makes for a colorful, rich gaming experience that you’d be missing without.
Now, for gaming the most important benefit of Nano-IPS is the TN like response times LG was able to achieve with an IPS display. This monitor is able to achieve <5MS response times that are nearly just as fast as the most popular TN panels, throughout all refresh rates. The reason I say “all refresh rates” is because the only real competition to this monitor is the ASUS VG27AQ which has similar specs but with the added benefit of Blur Reduction technology. Blur Reduction or ELMB further reduces blur and makes motion even more fluid on the ASUS compared to the LG, sort of the like DyAc on my 240hz BenQ, however it only works properly at high refresh rates which most people won’t be able to achieve on a 1440p display. Which is why the LG having such fast response times on all refresh rates is so important, and why I think it’s the better choice.
So, what does this all mean? For 500$ you get a competitive ready high refresh rate, high resolution monitor with vibrant rich colors and TN like response times, without TNs weaknesses. Taking all of this into consideration, LG has a clear winner on their hands and it’ll be a while before we see anything better. The only real flaw with this monitor is the lack of blur reduction tech and poor contrast ratios, but the latter is intrinsic to all IPS displays which makes it a non-issue especially considering the vibrancy of the colors on this panel.
For now, my 500$ BenQ will have to suffice as a secondary monitor as I can’t bare to look at a 1080p TN panel again after experiencing this monitor for the short time I’ve had it. I’ve attached some pictures comparing this monitor and the BenQ, mostly for color comparison. I also had an Aw3418DW ultrawide before this monitor but ended up returning it because paying a 500$ premium for 3 extra inches on the sides wasn’t worth it to me.
Buy it.

The HDR feature is pointless, so if you are looking for that to be of use...don't.
But other than that, this monitor fulfills all other specifications as honestly as a monitor can. It looks great, much better than my TN 144 Hz Asus MG278Q, and the colors are even better than my ultrawide VA. The contrast can not hope to match the VA, but I think I lucked out completely, because my panel has very very acceptable contrast for an IPS (especially considering this model's reputation), and there is no backlight bleeding anywhere. No dead pixels either.
Once you spend the time to configure it to your liking, you can forget fiddling around and enjoy the excellent colors and image quality this provides. I use the full gamut on mine, but have the saturation in my Radeon settings set to 85 or so. Gets me visually similar colors to sRGB, and I haven't seemed to notice any inconsistencies in the months that I have used it. Although, I have not verified it using professional tools or anything.

So I wanted a good 2k monitor to go with my RTX 2070 Super and I couldn't be happier with my selection. Not to mention that I was able to get it price matched for under $300!!
Up until now I was gaming in 4k on my LG Oled TV so capped at 60Hz, it was really good but I wanted to see if getting more FPS would be good. Not only is the high refresh rate well worth the price alone the resolution and colours from this bad boy are amazing at this range. I don't feel I have lost anything by playing in 1440p, response is super fast. If you want a good 1440p Monitor look no further, see when Amazon has it in stock and get Best Buy to price match. You won't be sad about it. I just wish I got it sooner (and waited for a 3080 instead of a 2070s but that's for another review).

Being an IPS panel and without local dimming, you can't expect amazing contrast or backlight uniformity but the response time and G-SYNC compatibility is awesome.
The stand is a little lackluster, but for the price this display can't be beat for productivity and gaming.

I got this monitor with my new gaming PC. 27in to me is just the sweet spot in size. It is fully adjustable except for turn (because you simply just turn the base). The Response time is misleading for marketing purposes as you can get 1ms but turning it on will have horrible ghosting and no human would play on that mode. The fast mode which dose not have this problem is about 4ms. I would tell you that there is honestly no difference in feel.
When I brought my monitor home I shortly realized it had a dead pixel. Small deal but for a monitor of this price point I wanted it fixed. Best Buy replaced with zero hassle in a timely manner. New one is great. This Defect is obviously LG's QC not Best Buy's as it wasn't inspected in store.
Gaming is great on 144hz and I highly recommend to anyone who hasn't experienced it.

Absolutely love this monitor. I had an ASUS 1080p 144hz for the last three years and let me tell ya that going from that to this majestic beast was like rediscovering video games for the first time. 27 inch displays are the perfect size for computer gaming. I was on a 24 inch previously and good grief was I missing out.
If you want a fast, 1440p 144hz monitor, look no further. I got this when it was $50 off which made it one of the most affordable displays with these specs.
Most of the cons I've seen about this monitor have to do with the ergonomics, or lack thereof. There's no swivel or tilt.
The colors look fantastic and the presets are great. HDR, based on the more savvy reviews, is a little lackluster.
Overall I'm super happy and would recommend this monitor to any casual/semi competitive gamer.

I've been a PC enthusiast for about 20 years. This is the best screen I've ever owned. Colors are great, calibration is great out of box, when you pair it with a GPU that can run games at 1440p 144Hz it's buttery smooth.
Only thing I wish they'd change is the stand. I've owned Pixio's in the past and I LOVE gaming monitors that look like they belong in an office. I'm talking about the red striped feet and giant back stand.
I would buy again and recommend to everyone.

This is my first 144hz monitor, I have been looking for months between different brands and which Monitor can give me the most bang for my buck.
I was looking between the 27inch and the 32inch version and decided to go with the smaller one to save a few 100 dollars. I have been using it to play all sorts of games(Forza, Battlefront 2, Valorant, Halo MCC, and etc). I mainly play FPS where refresh rate plays a big importance on gaming experience and with the 2K resolution combined with the IPS panel is AMAZING.
It sucks that if you want to use the 1ms response time you get ghosting and that the HDR is not at the minimum brightness, but its a great experience overall for the price.
One big pro for me is that it's not flash and very simple. you have some red accents on the back and at the bottom of the stand which aren't too gamery with lights and gamer aesthetic in your face.

I went back and forth between TN/IPS monitors for gaming. I competitively game (not for money or anything but I play to win every time) and this monitor has gone beyond expectations. The picture is amazing even during intense moments in War-zone. I also had a 1440 144Htz 27" TN from another company and the picture isn't even close in comparison. I'm very happy I gave this monitor a shot. If you are looking for a gaming monitor, in my opinion, you are not sacrificing anything going with this monitor. Movements, pictures, colors, etc. flow together very nice.

This monitor has been great with no significant complaints.
It's bright. In fact, it's so bright that I keep it at around 20%, even during the day with the curtains open.
It's colorful. I didn't break out a color wheel or anything, and I'm not a graphic designer, but it looks amazing on both PC and Mac, in games, and when watching videos. It did take a little manual configuration to get it right, though.
It has the resolution and PPI I need. On Windows it's irrelevant, but Macs are finicky about PPI, and this lands in the sweet spot of ~110 PPI for a non-Retina external display, so the fonts and UI line up as they would on the pre-Retina Apple Thunderbolt display.
It's fast. When I'm on my PC I use it for gaming and it performs great. I use an Nvidia video card and the official support makes the setup for adaptive sync painless. My previous monitor had unofficial support and configuring FreeSync took a little doing, but with official "g-sync compatible" support, it's nearly automatic.
It covers all the angles. This monitor actually delivers on the viewing angles it promises, which no previous flatscreen of mine ever did. It looks great from every angle. The color stays correct and there's no shade effect.
The stand is incredibly sturdy and has some serious heft to it, though a bit over-engineered. The preview photos make it look a little childish, but the red plastic is on the underside of the legs and isn't visible when deployed. The only other place you'll see it is on the back, but if it's against a wall this will be hidden, too. I'll end up mounting the display and not using the stand, though. Not because it's a bad stand, because it isn't. It has great height adjustment, supports rotation into portrait mode, and does everything but tilt horizontally. It's built like a brick house, but it takes up a lot of desktop space compared to other monitors. This is my only complaint.

I had my ultrawide recently go out and went on a trek for a new gaming monitor. I had 2 Asus' with dead pixels before I tried the newer LG line of nano IPS panels. This one blew them out of the water, also no dead pixels. So a win!
I saw a review here that said nano IPS was a gimmick... it's not. Also this is about the range of price a good IPS panel will cost at 144hz. It's not a gimmick because of it's true 1ms response time, that it was puts it above most others. For instance when you move something with text rapidly from one corner to the next the text is still legible. That's not the case on a lot of IPS panels.
The colors are deep and rich, but do require some tuning. It is also capable of a good brightness, I am currently using it at 40%. This will have IPS glow, that is inevitable, but less noticeable in a well lit room. It doesn't affect your viewing experience though, so I don't worry much with it.
All in all, it is a good monitor. For the price especially. It compares to Asus' ROG Swift monitor that goes for 650+, in my opinion it has a better out of box quality and color accuracy, and also better for daily tasks.
The downfalls are HDR. It does not look great on this monitor. It makes the whites too bright and the colors too dark. Essentially doing the opposite of HDR... I would not suggest using it. Also the stand, although better then its previous model in sturdiness and look, has no cable management. Due to its odd shape its hard to hide wires behind it also. I can't tie it to it... because it's simply too wide.
